julia+dave

We’ve been SO excited to share this wedding with you! Julia and Dave’s day was nothing short of perfection. I mean, it was a destination wedding in Florida… and it rained the entire day… but it really was such an awesome day.  Instead of allowing the rain to turn their day into a bummer, they embraced it.:)See Julia’s answer at the end of this entry to “If you could do it all over, would you change anything?”… that about sums up their amazingness.;)
See that pretty blonde on the right? That’s Nicole… we photographed her Chicago wedding in 2010 where Julia was a maid of honor.:)“So get this…” Doesn’t it look like that’s what he’s saying?;)Transposing his vows from his iPad to index cards. When I arrived Julia asked me… “Should I wear my hair down or should I put it partly up?”

I asked, “How does your hair hold a curl?”

“Really well.”

“Don’t you usually wear it down?”

The bridesmaids chimed in… “Yes, always.”

“Then yes, no question… wear it down!”

On that note, I’d like to take this opportunity to give you all my 2¢ (you guys know I’ll take every chance I can get to give my advice!)… I’m a big believer in looking like a beautiful version of yourself on your wedding day. If you wear your hair down usually, do that. If you don’t wear a lot of makeup, don’t go crazy. I mean, just my 2¢. (For more Bobbi tidbits, be sure to go “like” our Facebook biz page;))

An another note, how GORGEOUS is Ann’s dress?! One of the most beautiful Mother of the Bride dresses I’ve ever seen!
OHHHH JUUUUUULIAAAAAA!!!! You’re SUCH a beautiful bride! For REAL! And the hair down?! Man oh man, you’re gorgeous!None of us had an umbrella on hand… so they improvised!
Julia’s dad met her in the trolly before the ceremony.YES! Mike heard they didn’t have an umbrella and passed one off to the wedding coordinator to get them into the ceremony.Their ceremony was so genuine and sweet. Loved every second.

Reading his vows. This was their back up location to their originally planned outdoor ceremony… REEEEEALLY?! Your BACK UP location?! It was awesome.:)YOU’RE MARRRRRIED!!!!A 2013 addition to the bbmk umbrella collection… white! Hey bridesmaids, we’re photographing all of your future weddings… just thought you should know in advance.;)
DAAAAAAAMN HOT TAMALES!
I’m not gonna lie, shooting in the rain was a weeeee bit stressful… but this team rolled with the punches like CHAMPS!

OH SO enchanting!Dave’s siblings gave a most memorable toast! Mike’s favorite:?:
It’s tradition!;)Dave’s expression? Priceless!
Such a fun reception!
Notice the cups? When the dancing started the bar switched to clear plastic lidded cups w/cute straws; now THAT’S genius. Goodbye spills! The guests spontaneously started singing “God Bless America” right as Julia and Dave exited through the sparklers. It was the most hilariously perfect end to such an amazing day. My favorite:!:

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Julia:   I’ll never forget our big exit from the party. Our friends and family launched into a loud, off-key, impromptu rendition of “God Bless America” as we walked out. We could not have planned a more perfect ending to a day better than we could have imagined.

Dave: Midway through my dance with my mom, I looked over and saw my new bride leading a sing-along with her parents as the entire wedding party encircled the dance floor and swayed, singing along to “Stand By Me”

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Julia:  I’ve got three: 1. Hire Bobbi + Mike! If you wake up on your wedding day and there are 25 mph+ gusts of wind, your beautiful tent has collapsed, and its pouring, you’ll be glad you did! Consider them your wedding insurance policy–your images will be amazing come hell or high water (literally!) 2. Be nice to your vendors! Get to know them, be gracious, and when the wedding day arrives, you’ll be surrounded by your new friends! 3. For every ounce of love you dish out to your family, friends, and new spouse on your wedding day, you’ll see it returned to you ten-fold.

Dave:  Keep everything flexible. Do not strictly follow your plans if it would make the party in any way uncomfortable.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Julia:  Not two minutes after Carrie finished my makeup, I hugged my college-age brother and became irrationally sad that he was going on a summer abroad program and cried it all off.

Dave: My nephews, ages 9, 7 and 5, in an epic dance-off with several bridesmaids.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Julia:  No. It was perfect! Turns out that rain can only put a damper on your wedding day if you let it and can make your day even more awesome if you are open to it. And, I married a total hunk,  so it worked out.

Dave: Not even a little.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We spent a few days in Napa and Sonoma counties then headed to Maui:)

Mike torqued to ensure that he got both the bride’ sand the groom’s reaction to the walk down the aisle.;)Oh man… that hairdo?! My hair and the rain are NOT friends. I actually have pretty curly / wavy hair naturally so I knew that wearing my hair up was the only option. Though I felt like a hot mess all day. bride+groom+bobbi+groomsmen with umbrella+two videographers.:)

Julia, Dave, family, friends… thanks for making the most out of what many would have allowed to put a damper on their day. You guys are an incredible bunch and we can’t wait to see you all again!

Much love friends.

When they became engaged, they gave us a call. So now you know.;)You two really were made for one another.:)Mike’s favorite:?:The patriarchs of each family…

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Jen:  The first time I saw Geoff right before the ceremony when it was just him and me.

Geoff: Greeting everyone around the dinner table and standing up to look at the people we love most in this world, all gathered together at a single table for a moment in time. I will always remember how happy everyone was – chatting, laughing, enjoying one another’s company to the fullest. It will stand as a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life.

 Any advice for future Bride/Grooms?

Jen:  Hire a wedding coordinator so you don’t have to sweat the details, set-up or clean up on the day of.

Geoff: Hire Bobbi + Mike! They were absolutely awesome, from start to finish and added a lot of smiles to everyone’s day. Note: I was not paid to say that, we really thought they made the day a blast. Geoff, you rock. Thank you sweet friend.:D

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Jen:  Our two year old nephew trying to climb up on the ceremony platform with us during our vows.

Geoff: Our ring bearer (our nephew Tyler) brought the rings to us, one at a time and then decided to hang out on the altar with us for a little while. It brought a smile to everyone’s faces and made for a fun memory.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Jen:  Write more details down for the coordinator so that everything gets laid out as you envisioned (she set up our chuppah canopy that our family hand made up upside down so you couldn’t see any of the important embroidery).

Geoff: Not a single moment. It was perfect in every way and stands as the best day of my life.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Hawaii! (we visited Maui, then Kauai)

Damn my husband is hot hot HOT!Jen and Geoff, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for evvvvverything!

Much love friends!

katie+henry  ::  married 5 years  •  5.17.08

How they met, as told by Katie  ::  We met at IU (Bloomington), where we were in a higher education/student affairs grad program together. I was helping to plan our prospective-student welcome weekends and Henry volunteered to help on the committee.  The weekends had traditionally been called “Outreach”, but I renamed our committee meetings “MAKE-OUT reach fun” because I’m crazy and thought that dorky joke was hilarious. On the last night of the program, Henry and I kissed, so I guess my joke worked out for someone (Nora).

Henry  ::  hometown – Cabot, Ark.  ::  Attorney practicing communications law  ::  five words – Loving, Silly, Hard-working, Handsome, Voracious

Nora  ::  9 months  ::  7.9.12  ::  five words – Sweet, Expressive, (Silly) Goose, Adventurous, Happy

This one cracks me up! Katie’s clearly showing Nora how to ride a motorcycle… “Vroom vroom!”Peekaboo…!

SarahMay 2, 2013 - 12:41 pm

Gosh. So talented. Is it bad that one of the (strike that, the only) reason in my mind to have another baby right now is to have an excuse to host you two for a photo session? I think that’s bad… but hey, 2014 or 2015…that’s fair game!

MombaMay 2, 2013 - 1:01 pm

Hey Bobbi,

You and Mikey have not lost your touch. What a lovely family. Baby Nora is a baby doll. My favorite photo is the big sky picture. By the way, Katie and Henry have a beautiful home.

Love you,
Momba
