We’ve been SO excited to share this wedding with you! Julia and Dave’s day was nothing short of perfection. I mean, it was a destination wedding in Florida… and it rained the entire day… but it really was such an awesome day. Instead of allowing the rain to turn their day into a bummer, they embraced it.
See Julia’s answer at the end of this entry to “If you could do it all over, would you change anything?”… that about sums up their amazingness.

See that pretty blonde on the right? That’s Nicole… we photographed her Chicago wedding in 2010 where Julia was a maid of honor.
“So get this…” Doesn’t it look like that’s what he’s saying?
Transposing his vows from his iPad to index cards.
When I arrived Julia asked me… “Should I wear my hair down or should I put it partly up?”
I asked, “How does your hair hold a curl?”
“Really well.”
“Don’t you usually wear it down?”
The bridesmaids chimed in… “Yes, always.”
“Then yes, no question… wear it down!”
On that note, I’d like to take this opportunity to give you all my 2¢ (you guys know I’ll take every chance I can get to give my advice!)… I’m a big believer in looking like a beautiful version of yourself on your wedding day. If you wear your hair down usually, do that. If you don’t wear a lot of makeup, don’t go crazy. I mean, just my 2¢. (For more Bobbi tidbits, be sure to go “like” our Facebook biz page
)
An another note, how GORGEOUS is Ann’s dress?! One of the most beautiful Mother of the Bride dresses I’ve ever seen!
OHHHH JUUUUUULIAAAAAA!!!! You’re SUCH a beautiful bride! For REAL! And the hair down?! Man oh man, you’re gorgeous!
None of us had an umbrella on hand… so they improvised!
Julia’s dad met her in the trolly before the ceremony.
YES! Mike heard they didn’t have an umbrella and passed one off to the wedding coordinator to get them into the ceremony.
Their ceremony was so genuine and sweet. Loved every second.

Reading his vows.
This was their back up location to their originally planned outdoor ceremony… REEEEEALLY?! Your BACK UP location?! It was awesome.

YOU’RE MARRRRRIED!!!!
A 2013 addition to the bbmk umbrella collection… white!
Hey bridesmaids, we’re photographing all of your future weddings… just thought you should know in advance.
DAAAAAAAMN HOT TAMALES!
I’m not gonna lie, shooting in the rain was a weeeee bit stressful… but this team rolled with the punches like CHAMPS!

OH SO enchanting!
Dave’s siblings gave a most memorable toast! Mike’s favorite

It’s tradition!
Dave’s expression? Priceless!
Such a fun reception!
Notice the cups? When the dancing started the bar switched to clear plastic lidded cups w/cute straws; now THAT’S genius. Goodbye spills!
The guests spontaneously started singing “God Bless America” right as Julia and Dave exited through the sparklers. It was the most hilariously perfect end to such an amazing day. My favorite

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
Julia: I’ll never forget our big exit from the party. Our friends and family launched into a loud, off-key, impromptu rendition of “God Bless America” as we walked out. We could not have planned a more perfect ending to a day better than we could have imagined.
Dave: Midway through my dance with my mom, I looked over and saw my new bride leading a sing-along with her parents as the entire wedding party encircled the dance floor and swayed, singing along to “Stand By Me”
Any advice for future bride/grooms?
Julia: I’ve got three: 1. Hire Bobbi + Mike! If you wake up on your wedding day and there are 25 mph+ gusts of wind, your beautiful tent has collapsed, and its pouring, you’ll be glad you did! Consider them your wedding insurance policy–your images will be amazing come hell or high water (literally!) 2. Be nice to your vendors! Get to know them, be gracious, and when the wedding day arrives, you’ll be surrounded by your new friends! 3. For every ounce of love you dish out to your family, friends, and new spouse on your wedding day, you’ll see it returned to you ten-fold.
Dave: Keep everything flexible. Do not strictly follow your plans if it would make the party in any way uncomfortable.
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Julia: Not two minutes after Carrie finished my makeup, I hugged my college-age brother and became irrationally sad that he was going on a summer abroad program and cried it all off.
Dave: My nephews, ages 9, 7 and 5, in an epic dance-off with several bridesmaids.
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Julia: No. It was perfect! Turns out that rain can only put a damper on your wedding day if you let it and can make your day even more awesome if you are open to it. And, I married a total hunk, so it worked out.
Dave: Not even a little.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We spent a few days in Napa and Sonoma counties then headed to Maui
Mike torqued to ensure that he got both the bride’ sand the groom’s reaction to the walk down the aisle.
Oh man… that hairdo?! My hair and the rain are NOT friends. I actually have pretty curly / wavy hair naturally so I knew that wearing my hair up was the only option. Though I felt like a hot mess all day.

Julia, Dave, family, friends… thanks for making the most out of what many would have allowed to put a damper on their day. You guys are an incredible bunch and we can’t wait to see you all again!
Much love friends.

What a sweet thing to have engraved… if I can recall this phrase was also part of Jen’s vows to Geoff. So dang sweeeeet!
…meanwhile…
Holy WOW to this gorgeousness.
Jen, I know you were a bit disappointed that your chuppah canopy was tied on upside down, but LOOOOK what happened when the wind blew!
IS THIS REAL LIFE?! Psh, we’re moving to California… k? k. My favorite!
…the reading of the Ketubah.
Mazel Tov!
The trees at Holman Ranch were out-of-a-magazine beautiful.
Have I mentioned that we’re moving to California? Because we are.*
One of our most commonly asked questions when we go to out of state to a wedding is, “So how did they find you… being that you’re so far away?” Welllll… each time the answer is different.
You two really were made for one another.

I’m in Sacto and I would love to have you guys photograph my family some day. We love Carmel/Monterey; it holds lots of memories for us as a family. I would have so twisted my husband’s arm to drive and meet you guys ANYWHERE — and photo hater he is, he grudgingly admits you guys MIGHT make it fun. These are stupid beautiful, as usual. You guys rock.
She definitely gets that expressiveness from her momma!
Beep beep beeeep!
This is my favorite one of the bunch.
Ohhhh Nora Jayne… you’re just the perfecto baby!
We photographed their wedding five years ago… and it’s still one of my all time favorite weddings.
GAH! Another favorite!
The sky this day was impressively blue!
This one cracks me up! Katie’s clearly showing Nora how to ride a motorcycle… “Vroom vroom!”
