05_bobbimike_km14Our personal rules for ceremonies (when no one has approached us with any restrictions) is to stay respectful of the ceremony and to not cause a distraction. If at any moment I feel that people are paying attention to me then I cease fire.

Here I discretely snuck behind the stage and went for the ten.:D…..I’m pretty sure very few noticed that I was so close…. It does help that I’m short and wear dark clothes.:)

bride+groom

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Rebekah:  Walking down in the aisle!! Turning the corner and seeing everyone I love in one room (and a handsome groom at the other end of the aisle) was priceless. The whole moment probably lasted about twenty seconds, but to me, it felt infinite.

Marcus: This is pretty cliché, but the first time I saw her walking down the aisle. I don’t really know what I was expecting, but man was I blown away. She looked so beautiful and elegant.

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Marcus: Make sure to just have fun, the details all seem to work themselves out! Also, if your rehearsal is an absolute mess, that is good, you can get those mistakes out of the way before the real thing.

Rebekah:   Hire Bobbi + Mike. Just do it. You know you want to! And like Marcus said, don’t sweat the small stuff, especially in the planning process. Focus on preparing for a marriage instead of planning a wedding!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Rebekah:   Nothing makes me laugh like walking into a dressing room and seeing a life-sized Amy Poehler cardboard cut-out sitting in a chair. Let’s just say, my maid of honor knows me well! I also need to mention that Gram may have taken the cake on this question with her dance moves at the reception…

Marcus: The groomsmen, as well as some of my family, went laser-tagging in the morning. We had a pretty epic time, and it was decently competitive. Each match, when there was about 20 seconds left, it would become pandemonium as everyone rushed into the middle of the arena. A lot of good men died out there…multiple times.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Marcus:  I would just do it again. It was just such a fun day, and it was truly amazing to share it with our family and so many of our close friends.

Rebekah:  Agreed. I would live that day again in a heartbeat without changing a single thing!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We went to Canada for two weeks of hiking, exploring caves and canyons, and enjoying the gorgeous lakes in and around Banff National Park.

20_bobbimike_km14bobbi+mikeHey Mike… you’re in my shot. Hey Bobbi, you’re in my shot!  Who meee?! 23_bobbimike_km14I sure do love him.:)
24_bobbimike_km14After the bride and groom had left and we were cleaning everything up I noticed that I still had her veil in my bag… so I did what any sane photographer would do… I grabbed the maids of honor, the bride’s bouquet and I posed it up! :D I posted an iPhone pic of this shot on the back of my camera to my Instagram account captioned, “…alllllways the photographer…”:DThanks for having fun with me ladies! Rebekah, I think that this expression is one that our homie Amy Poehler would be proud of! 21_bobbimike_km14

Rebekah and Marcus, I know how much you appreciate / value art and I know how sacred / important your wedding was… asking us to photograph your wedding was something that we will forever appreciate. :) (I already said this to you in an email but it was worth sharing again).

Much love friends!

katy+josh

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Katy:  I have 3 strong contenders… 1) walking up the aisle to Josh. Seeing him standing there (he looked so dashing!), me smiling and trying to keep my emotions together all while mouthing to him “don’t you dare cry.” 2) After we were pronounced and kissed, we both turned to our guests and just took a moment to look around. It was like we both inhaled and exhaled together. I remember seeing where my friends and family were sitting. 3) My father/daughter dance. I knew I was going to lose it, because I’d been waiting for this moment since I was 5 years old. The song that my dad had sang to me my whole life came on, and I was complete waterworks. AND our sparkler exit! That was more than I ever imagined and definitely memorable!!

Josh:  The whole day!  Probably seeing Katy walk up the aisle and walking back down the aisle as a married couple.

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Katy:  Decide what’s important and entrust that to reliable people (ie: photos–Bobbi and Mike!)  It will take the stress off and allow you to be in the moment instead of micromanaging details.

Josh:  Go with the flow, and just enjoy everything about the day. Oh, and get on the dance floor!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Katy:   Watching Josh’s side of the family dance to The Tootsie Roll.  They were hilarious and actually quite good!  Everyone in the room was loving it.

Josh:  When Katy dropped her communion bread.  It landed by my shoe, and neither of us knew what to do.  We both looked at each other with questioning eyes.  Do I pick it up and give it to her, do we get a new piece?  I ended up bending down to get it and she ate it like nothing happened.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Katy:  Not a thing–except making the day last even longer.  I didn’t want it to end.

Josh:  I wouldn’t change anything.  It was perfect, even the unexpected moments.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We took a mini-moon to Traverse City, MI and then spent 8 days in Maui, Hawaii.

I’m only blogging that photo on the left to show you how tall they are! …or to show you how short I am… whichever… they’re both accurate statements.;)

  • JoyceJuly 30, 2014 - 8:39 pm

The best decision Katy ever made was saying “Yes” to Josh Hembrough. Her second-best decision was reserving the talented team of Bobbi+Mike for their wedding day. Bobbi, your “eye” is both artistic and emotional. The shot of Katy and her dad right before he escorts her down the aisle gave me chills, thrills, tears and sighs. Your photos not only capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments, they also capture our imaginations as they tell their stories. Thank you both for giving us such a wonderful experience that day. Your talents are awe-inspiring.
May God continue to bless you both. Thank you. Thank you. Mama EshReplyCancel

Insider note… The picture of Katy holding her bouquet shows a blue crystal pin attached to the stems. This pin belonged to Katy’s grandmother Grant (my mother). Circa 1940′s. Grandma Dicky passed away one month before Katy ‘s twelfth birthday. I was so honored that Katy wanted to carry a memory of my mother on her wedding day. Grandma Dicky would be smiling too. 09_nikaelanick_bbmk10_nikaelanick_bbmkWuv… twuuue wuv…. 11_nikaelanick_bbmkThen it was time for a few portraits of just the two of them. 12_nikaelanick_bbmkThose amber waves of grain sure didn’t disappoint!13_nikaelanick_bbmkNikaela’s mom and her attention to detail is unmatched. I’ve never seen a more detailed wedding… and that’s sayin’ something…. after all, we’ve shot over 300 weddings!  Side note: I’m sure that many of you have noticed that I don’t blog a lot of detail shots… I usually only blog 25-30 images from a wedding… our specialty is telling stories and that’s what we prefer to do with our 30-ish images. That being said, we DEFINITELY shoot plenty of them… you just don’t see too many of them here.:)
14_nikaelanick_bbmkLOVE! THIS!15_nikaelanick_bbmk17_nikaelanick_bbmkOhhhhh happy dayyyyyy!18_nikaelanick_bbmkWe’ve had a BEAUTIFUL summer here in good ol’ Indiana!

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Nikaela:  Walking into the ceremony was the most emotional, and seeing Nick and our family and friends standing in front of me was so humbling and unlike any feeling ever, simply amazing!  I also loved the serenity of our last dance, I couldn’t believe that it was all over and I will never forget the bliss I felt in those few minutes dancing with Nick.

Nicholas: The decision to not see Nikaela on our wedding day was highly debated leading up to the wedding. Now, I am so glad we didn’t see each other because the image of her in her wedding dress coming out of the field will stay with me for the rest of my life.

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Take your time in choosing who to surround yourself with on your wedding day. It makes all the difference and will allow you to relax and enjoy your Wedding day!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

We both loved the impromptu hoe-down during the Devil Went Down to Georgia. It was so much fun to watch everyone take their turn in the middle of the circle dancing to a song that was out of our dancing comfort zones:)

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Nikaela:  Our wedding day was amazing and I wish that it could have lasted forever but lighting the paper lanterns and worrying about everything catching on fire was a little more stressful than I would have liked.

Nicholas: Not a thing, except maybe the paper lanterns.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We were so lucky to be able to spend 10 days sailing around Italy and Greece along with a few days in both Florence and Rome. We had the best time together and neither of us wanted to come back to reality!

Mike is the best looking photographer I’ve ever seen in action. He also happens to be my husband. BONUS! bobbi+mikeLet me hear you say HEYYYYY…. 24_nikaelanick_bbmk

Much love friends!
