Indianapolis, Ind.

Together  :: 1.3.11

Georgia ::  Student  •  Hometown  ::  Crown Point, Ind.  •   five words  ::  Angelic, beautiful, impossible, passionate, and “wiener-dog like”

Tyler  ::  fire fighter  •  Hometown  ::  Homewood, Ill.  •   five words  ::  Charming, genuine, goofy, handsome, and lovable.

How they met, as told by Georgia   ::   I had known Tyler since our freshman year of high school but was too shy to talk with him. In my eyes Tyler was one of the cool kids because he did sports and had a lot of friends; therefore he was obviously too cool for me because I was in Color-guard and did Improv. However, during our senior year of high school Tyler had tried out for Improv and I completely fell in love with his sense of humor; plus he does a killer Irish accent that can woo anyone. After a few months we just kind of fell together and have been that way ever since.  (I totally just realized I described the plot of High School Musical… oh goodness…)

Heeeeere weeeeee aaaaaaare….:D17_indianapolisphotographer_gte15Hi Rachel! 18_indianapolisphotographer_gte15A rarity… both of us in one photo!:DAnother photo credit to Ben.

Remember Sarah and Sam? Of COURSE you do… for the very small minority of people who may not, here’s a quick refresher…

engagement :: wedding :: family

Now that you’re in the loop… I could NOT be more excited to share this session with you. Sarah and Sam hold such a special place in my heart… I’ll never forget shooting their engagement session, it’s been nearly 6 years ago and it’s still a favorite. And let’s not even talk about their wedding… I remember every single thing about that day!

Both times I’ve photographed this family, we did it in their home. The first time they were living in their first home near Broad Ripple. They’ve since bought the house that Sarah grew up in in Carmel.:)

Starting things off with my favorite…:!:01_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15Meet sweet Florence… I think she looks exactly like Sarah and Sarah’s Dad.:DOh, and she happens to be perfect. That image on the right, AAAARE YOU KIDDING ME?! 02_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15But the real camera hog? THISSSSS little one! 03_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15Every photo in this blog entry (except the very last one) were all taken in the same room. You know what I’d like to specialize in? THIS KIND! Lifestyle sessions at home… where you’re most comfortable… where you can look back and remember where you lived, how your home was decorated, and well… what your “every day” looked like. These kinds of sessions fill my photography love tank up.:)Who else in Indianapolis wants one? I’m in!:D04_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15I’m sorry that my camera can’t resist her… but COME ON… how can so much personality fit into one very tiny human?!
10_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15FLORENNNNCE!!!! HIIII!!!!05_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15Sarah, I’ve photographed you four times now…some of the most beautiful images I’ve ever taken of anyone are of you… but you… as a mom… well, there’s nothing more gorgeous.:)06_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15See that floor? Sam did that. Are you as blown away by this feat as I was?! 07_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15“Whatchyoo talkin’ ’bout Willis?!”08_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf1509_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15I love that sweet baby… 11_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15This image of Sam? Well… this is everything! These are the kinds of images that only happen at home… comfort like that just can’t be replicated in a field or in front of a cool door. Sam, seeing you as a dad makes my heart sing… I couldn’t love this image more. Man oh man… now I’m getting all emotional… another favorite:!:13_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15Momma with her babies…12_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf1517_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15I think Florence doesn’t quiiiiite know what to think of big sister Jettie yet… 14_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15Loved their blue walls.
15_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15Oh holy hell…. and then my heart melted into one zillllllion pieces…16_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15…and looooook who made an appearance… Jettie calls them “Nina” and “Great Nina”:)According to Sarah it was a failed attempt at “Nana”:D18_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15

Indianapolis, Ind.

sarah+sam  ::  married 5 years  •  4.10.10

How they met, as told by Sarah  :: Two of our best friends used to date in high school.  They tried to set us up (it didn’t quite work out). After they’d broken up, we ran into one another at a party and started dating. And here we are :).

Sarah ::  hometown – Carmel, Ind.  ::  attorney  ::  five words – thoughtful, artistic, independent, beautiful, loving (stubborn and analytical)

Sam  ::  hometown – Indianapolis, Ind.  ::  construction manager  ::  five words – Driven, caring, humble, genuine, loyal

Jettie  ::  3 years  :: five words – joyful, thoughtful, musical, independent, vivacious

Florence  ::  4 weeks  ::  five words – happy, sweet, lovable, feisty, cheeks

Your perfect Saturday  ::  A lazy morning with bacon and “eggies” for breakfast. Playing outside and going for a walk around a lake near our house. Sewing (for me) and working outside (for Sam) during naptime. Then dinner, a movie with Jettie, and a nightcap by the fireplace on our back patio after story time.

Jettie loved Mike. She requested this pose. I aim to please! 19_indianapolislifestylephotogrpher_ssjf15

Much love friends!

  • SarahApril 2, 2015 - 3:18 pm

    After spending maybe half an hour soaking in this post, I’m sitting here with the silliest grin on my face. From Flore’s “blue steel” pose to Jettie hamming it up for the camera to Sam eyeing Jettie to everyone snuggling up together and then back to Florence dozing amidst the chaos… You have captured so many moments that remind me of our “every day” in ways that we could never do ourselves. So much love. For you, for them, for everything. Thank you.ReplyCancel

  • Megan DApril 2, 2015 - 4:18 pm

    Update — we just showed the pictures to Jettie.

    Us: Remember when Bobbi and Mike came over to take pictures?
    Jettie: Yah.
    Look, there’s all of us, and daddy, and Florence.
    …Where’s Mike?
    Mike’s not in the pictures, Jet.
    (scrolls down to the last image)
    (tries scrolling up)
    Let’s see it again.

    Just went back through their engagement, wedding, and first family session. LOVE being able to watch this couple grow into a family! Yeah, this is what it’s all about. Your “WHY.”

    I adore these images especially since they were all shot in their home. Gushing over that first image (WOW!), the shot of momma and her newborn in front of the blue wall, and the one of all four of them on the bed showing the floor. Sigh.ReplyCancel

When Audrie asked us if we could photo a session at the house she grew up in…. What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Trish:  My favorite memory, by far, was our first look.  We had talked about it before the wedding day and our prediction of how we would each react.  He was so convinced that he wouldn’t be nervous or emotional for our first look and I was scared that I would not be able to keep it together.  We literally could not have been more wrong.  I was (oddly) very calm and Karl was the complete opposite.  He was 110% FREAKING OUT.  When I walked up behind him he was actually shaking because he was so nervous, and I think he fought off some tears (which he will deny forever, but we have pictures Karl!)… Tears or no tears, it was definitely my most favorite moment of the entire day.

Karl: My most memorable moment was also our first look, but I refute all of the above allegations… Alright, maybe it was a little nerve-racking, but how else was I supposed to react when I was waiting to see the most beautiful future wife EVER!!!

Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Have so much fun… we loved being engaged!!  Wedding planning was stressful (duh)… but the most stressful times turned into some of our favorite memories because it was a reminder that we make a good team (translation: groom talks bridezilla down from the ledge) J  You’ll make a billion decisions together about the wedding, and some are more important than others, but in the end they all add up to an unforgettable day that is uniquely yours.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Mommom (Trish’s grandma) doing The Wobble with all of her grandchildren!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Not a single thing!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We cruised the Caribbean!  Belize was by far our favorite place and we can’t wait to go back!

  • KishaFebruary 11, 2015 - 1:09 pm
