the priest was Irish… as in.. FROM Ireland… as in… the most awesome accent I've ever heard! It was like Bono officiating the ceremony… but cooler!

LONG ISLAND, NY. Alicia and Chuck, as you can clearly tell… had a FABULOUS day! Not ONE detail was overlooked… Alicia planned the entire event perrrrrrfectly!

Right before the ceremony started… it was just Alicia and I in this back room. She looked over at me and said, "I'm so happy you're here photographing our wedding…" I teared up a bit and gave her a big hug… talk about making a girl feel loved!

In New York there are lots and lots of Irish families… Irish families that all stay together and don't move… Irish families that are deep in tradition… Irish families that like to dance… Irish families that look JUST alike! I sort of felt like I could be everyone's sister… little noses, pink skin, big eyes, freckles, auburn hair, rosey cheeks… it was awesome. They even did an Irish choreographed dance!One of the BEST parts about our jobs is that we get to see so many different traditions… traditions that we never would have seen if we weren't wedding photographers…

You know, different parts of the country do weddings differently. For example, in Indiana… we usually have really long dancing receptions while in Kentucky, they're much shorter. In New York… they spread the events out throughout the entire reception. For example, Alicia and Chuck walked in and immediately did their first dance… then… EVERYONE got up to dance for an hour…. THEN we had dinner…. then lots more dancing (this was a DANCING group!)… THEN toasts…. and of course more dancing…. THEN father/daughter, mother/son dance… etc, etc, etc. The reception just had a great pace to it and really kept the energy high.

Emily is OH SO sweet annnnd… thinks I'm the "cutest thing ever" …and I'm okay with that!Ryan… he just rocks. We all kept leaving Emily's flip flops anytime we'd be on the move… so, off he ran to grab them. I think Ryan did enough running back and forth to get in a full workout!

So, we left location one… and as we parked for location two we saw that it wasn’t going to work out without an accidental trespass… and we here at bobbi+mike are rule followers!Shelly said,”we know you’ve got PLENTY already, we can just be done.” To which I responded, “No, I like the new outfit… we’re going to work it out right where we’re parked” So… that’s exactly what we did.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Back in April, I spoke at a photographers event (Mike was in Florida)… Shelly attended.After I gave my little presentation… she came up to me and after we exchanged big hugs (we’ve been friends for a while) she said, “so, I’m pregnant… and would love for you to photo Brian and I.” I think I squeeeeled! “AYKM?! SHELLY!!!!! YOU’RE PREGNANT??!?!? YAYYYYY!!!! I’D LOOOOOOVE TO PHOTO YOU!!!!!!”

As Shelly and I discussed her maternity session she said something along the lines of feeling silly for getting them done.. but so many other women she knows has had them done in the past, and were so glad they did. Now, I’ve clearly never had children… so I can’t add anything to that… but I can tell you that there is one photo of my mom pregnant with me… that I hold so close to my little heart. Now, in that photo… her eyes are closed, it’s out of focus… and my dad is probably taking the photo. So, it’s far from perfection… but I’ll take what I can get. I would just love to see what my parents were like then. Know what I mean?

Photographing those two was full of fun. Shelly and I are both uhm… how do I put this… uhm… we’re a little ADHD… so we can have full conversations about 20 things all at the same timeI’m guessing we drive our men nuts… oh well.Adds to the charm, right men?! right! And Brian… he’s fantastic in every way! These two were MADE for one another. He’s so ornery… so sweet and… has some SERIOUSLY aweseome blue eyes!I cannot WAIT to meet your baby girl… I KNOW you’ll be amazing parents!

Shelly, you’ll never really know how honored I was the day you asked me to photo you… as an artist that I truly respect… thank you.

WHOA!!!! No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you… and nope…. no Photoshopping.It was taken on the bevel of the mirror. Yes, I’m a photo genius.

Ashley gave Chris the sweetest gift in the history of the world. After a few months of dating, Ashley started keeping a diary… a diary that I presume was all about him.So, right before they walked down the aisle… he opened it as a gift. For the rest of the time, he couldn’t quit reading it.

This is SO Chris! And quite convincing, too!

ESTES PARK, Co. Ashley is an aspiring photographer herself… freshly graduated from Mizzou’s photojournalism department. I asked Ashley how she found us all the way in Indiana…. “Darbi introduced me!” You see, she often assists Darbi G., a wedding photographer, in Columbia Missouri. :) So… thanks for the introduction friendo!

When Ashley and Chris became engaged… next came the task of picking a place to get married… They both live in Missouri, Ashley’s family lives in Illinois and Chris’ family in Texas. So really… anywhere they went, lots of people would have to travel there. So… what do they do… they plan a destination wedding in Colorado! Why there???!?! It’s their favorite place… and where they got engaged.PERFECTION!

What I LOVE about destination weddings is that your ENTIRE family is in the same place at the same time… just one big ol’ family vacation! Oh, and let me tell you… they, along with their families were just incredible people. So, when we arrive Friday… and start getting to know everyone… we IMMEDIATELY feel like part of the family (when’s the next family reunion?! we’re in!). The whole event just has such a comfortable energy. By the way, is that an oxymoron? “comfortable energy” Whatever.. you guys get what I’m trying to say… right???!?

We feel completely honored that you guys chose us as your photographers… we had such an amazing time… and cannot thank you enough for EVERYTHING!
