Texas session #6 of 8.

Here it is, what many of you have been excited to see…. Sarah Q and her amazingly cute family:)

If you don’t know Sarah… you should! She’s a ridiculously talented photographer based in Austin, Texas.

Technically, it was HER who got the whole ball rolling with us being in Texas to photograph all of these family sessions.  She insisted that it was us who photographed their FIRST ever family session… and she wouldn’t take no for an answer;)So, we did a search through our inbox for the word Texas… emailed all of those who inquired… and badaboom badabing… we started making plans.

We photographed their rock star themed Halloween wedding back in 2007.:DBack then, they had Roxy and Kai… and Kai was a toddler then.:)They’ve since added another one to their rockstar family… Meet Miss Marley Mae:)

I ADORE this family!!!!! Don’t you?! My favorite:!:

These kids are cooler at four then I’ve been my entire life.  Mikey’s favorite:?:Hello amazing wall:)Thanks for being there.

Wacky Mike!

We ended the session at their house… making s’mores:)

whatchoo lookin’ at?!;)

Sarah… I’m afraid that, though this was your first family session, you’re now going to have to get them every year. SEE YOU IN 2011!:)

In all seriousness, you have no idea how much it meant to us to be asked to photograph your amazing family. I love you guys… Thank you for everything.

Much love!

~bobbi+mike

I don’t care that this photo is out of focus… I love everything about it… even the scared look on Marley’s face;)

Mike, of course, can’t resist rolling down a hill :)

Have I mentioned that we adore this family?!

Texas session #5 out of 8:)

If we were to ever specialize in one type of photography… families would be it.  Well, preferably families like the amazingness that we met in Texas.  These guys are certainly no exception.

WACKY BOBBI STRIKES AGAIN! Mike’s favorite:?:

This makes me want to be 3 years old again.:)

I have a feeling that Seamus is going to grow up to be like just like Mike… intelligent and charming:)(which is the ultimate compliment… Mike is, after all, my favorite guy in the world!)

Are you kidding me with the adorableness that are Seamus and Finn?! (by the way… Seamus… pronounced Sh?-muss)

If only Indiana were this awesome in December!

I love their faces in this one:DMy favorite:!:

…and one for the grandma’s:)

If we lived in the same city…. Katherine and James would be the kind of friends that we’d play cards with every Tuesday.:)James and Mike could talk about science-y smart stuff while Katherine and I would talk about everything… unfiltered:)

See… told you he’ll be just like Mike:)I didn’t even set it up this way… it just happened:D

our awkward family photo, 2010

Hi friends… and happy holidays:D

Now, if you’ve been following this blog for a while… you know that Mike and I go a little crazy with our holiday card every year.  What started out as something goofy to send to family members is now something that people ask us about all year… “so, how are you going to top last years?!” or… “we cant wait to get your holiday card, I’m sure it’ll be awesome!” So, we brainstorm what we’re going to do for months.:)

Here are some of our past cards…

2009

2008

2007

This year… outta nowhere… “MIKE! I KNOW WHAT WE’RE GOING TO DO FOR OUR CHRISTMAS CARD!!!! …AN AWKWARD FAMILY PHOTO!” (For those who aren’t familiar with the awkward family photos website, you HAVE to click here. Be prepared to pee your pants laughing.)

He immediately loved the idea… and we started brainstorming.:)

I jokingly suggested to Mike that he should shave himself down to a mustache.  “YES! I’LL DO IT!”

“Uhm… I wasn’t serious!”

You see, Mike has shaven off his facial hair only once since I’ve known him… and, if I’m being honest… I’m NOT a fan of a beardless Mike.  Furthermore, growing it back to the state that it was in… that’ll take months. The hair on his face doesn’t grow super fast.

Mike took dedication to a whole new level.

On the day of the shoot… he was in the bathroom with the razor… “Mike, I don’t think you should do it. It’s not worth it!”

Ryan, on the other hand, disagreed. “Mike, you have to! It will make the card go from kinda funny to hilarious!”

Before Ryan could finish his sentence Mike had taken a huge chunk out of his beard.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

By the time he was done, I knew Ryan and Mike were right… It was TOTALLY worth it! He looked RIDICULOUS!

While shooting this… well… we’ve not laughed this hard in months! My abs hurt the next day from laughing so hard!

Won’t lie… of all of our holiday cards, we think this is our best yet:)

I’ll shush and get to it!

The cover of our card. :)

Inside.

Back.  Notice the logo?:)That was my favorite touch.

Because the photos on the inside printed so small… here are a few of them a little larger for your viewing pleasure:)

SO sexy!

Addison and August Rose (our goddaughter) had to get their own awkward family photo. Don’t worry, Ryan is holding August up from the back. It’s too bad that Addison is way too cute to be awkward.

For those who’ve asked:

  • The clothes and shoes… we got those at a thrift store (except for my sweater… that’s Andrea’s moms.  She wears it when visiting nursing homes because the residents think it’s pretty:))
  • The hand painted muslin background… that came from ebay.
  • My nails are really that long… all natural. Don’t be mad.
  • Mike’s hair and mustache… real. (I’m pretty good at Photoshop… but not THAT good!)
  • The cameras, those are fancy film cameras from the 80′s.
  • Of course I bought the glasses that have my prescription, why wouldn’t I?! I might start wearing them.;)
  • That’s Ryan on the back. He helped art direct and he photographed it.
  • Yes, I tried to process the photos to make them look like they were taken in the 80′s.

Hope your holidays have been perfect in every way:D

MERRRRRRRY MERRY FRIENDS!!!!!!

Love,

~bobbi+mike:!:+:?:

PS. we’re in Kansas City for the holidays… won’t be back until right before the New Year.  Regularly scheduled blog posts will resume then:)

angela+matt+ava+cal

Texas session #4 out of 8.:)

This family is, to date, the most energetic family we’ve photographed. As a matter of fact, if you look up “fun parents”  in the dictionary… you’ll find  a photo of Angie and Matt.

Cal and Ava, though 3 years apart, are the best of friends.  Usually with a little brother/big sister situation… the big sister is totally annoyed with her little brother.  Not Ava though… she thinks Cal’s hilarious. Though, that may be a different story when they’re not getting their photo taken;)

Matt could throw Cal higher than I’ve EVER seen a dad throw a kid…. EVERRRR!

Mark my words… Cal, someday, is going to be a very well paid comedian.  He spent the ENTIRE session trying to make me laugh.  It worked.

My view and my favorite!:!:

…and Mike’s view… and HIS favorite:?:Whose side are YOU on?!?!?

Told you he was hilarious!

yes yes yes… that’s Austin’s famous “Hey Cupcake!” trailer behind them:)

Angela and Matt, you guys have no idea how honored we felt to have been asked to photograph your family.  You two are the masters of it! So, from the bottom of my big red heart… thank you:)

Much love friends.

I couldn’t get my eye close to the viewfinder because I’m a girl;)I won’t lie… getting up and down from there wasn’t comfortable… nor was it pretty/graceful (I skinned my shin coming back down)… but it was TOTALLY worth it!

He’s a professional stand-in for light testing.  Clearly, he’s been practicing in front of the mirror.;)
