andrea+ryan+addison+august

Does this team even need an introduction? They’ve been on this blog so many times they should have their own category! You see those red heads? Those are our god daughters and two of my favorite kids in the world. You see that guy on the left? He’s our art director and best friend. You see that gorgeous lady on the right? She’s the head honcho. Big decisions don’t happen before talking to the HMIC (head momma in charge). Together we’re one big happy Framily.;)
Last month the six of us got together and we all went camping for August Rose’s 2nd birthday. In the midst of our camping getaway, we snuck away and grabbed a few new family photos.:DOHHHH August Rose… you MELT me!They’re incredible parents… and it oozes out of them in every image.
ADDISON NOEL!!!! YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR KID!August is quite the daredevil! Addison, on the other hand, is as girly as they get! We’ve shot this exact image every time we’ve photographed this family. I’m about to hop on my soapbox… so consider yourselves warned!

These images aren’t the most creative ever taken… they’re not shot in front of the coolest background… they’re not full of never-been-done-before-over-the-top poses.

I’ll tell you what  they are though; they’re images of a genuinely happy family who have a crazy amount of fun together. These are the kind of images that we strive for every time we photograph people.:D

Alright… off my soapbox…;)
Can’t you just hear them giggling when you see this one? I know I sure can! Then it was back to the campsite to finish off the birthday evening.:D
This girl was made for the outdoors.I flipping love this family. They make my heart so happy. Random observation: The look on Andrea’s face reminds me of the image of Michelle Obama giving a fist bump to the President. August loves birthdays as much as I do! She was SO hype about this cake!Perfection!

How they met  ::  In high school we were in constant competition and could often be found arguing over who was the best at any given task, test, or skill. We wizened up and decided it would be smarter to join forces and take over the world together.

Their perfect Saturday  ::  Breakfast made by dad. Dance party! Cultural outing of the girls’ choosing (it would sound pretentious if it weren’t true). On Saturdays you’ll find us at the farmers’ market, zoo, library, Children’s Museum, or whatever festival or parade is happening. Mama loves being around people “gathered for good” (or for food).

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Angie:  My most memorable moment of the day needs a little preface. So, I’ll try not to make this too long, but after Tyler and I got engaged, my best friend’s mom, Ruth, became terminally ill. She was truly a second mother to me and her goal was to make it to the wedding. After fighting for months, she passed away in June, just three months before the wedding, but told me she would be there on my wedding day and give me a sign to let me know.

At the wedding, as my dad was walking me down the aisle, a wind chime started going crazy! To be honest, I didn’t even notice it until my dad said, “I think that means you have an angel” (he had no idea what Ruth had said to me). I instantly knew it was Ruth fulfilling her promise to me. I can’t help but smile every time I think about it:)

Tyler: My most memorable moment of the day was hearing Angie trying to quietly walk up to me for our first look, then getting the tap on my shoulder and turning around in awe.

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Angie:  Try as best as you can not to stress out over the wedding!! In the end, what is important is that you are marrying the person you love, not that you now have 100 jars of jam because the favors didn’t get set out at the reception:)

AND hire Bobbi + Mike!!!!! They are amazing at what they do and they’ll keep you laughing the whole day!

Tyler:  Don’t get caught up in the tiny details that may go wrong on the day of.  You will be the only people to know what went wrong while everyone else will admire what goes right.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Angie:  The funniest memory from that day for me was when all of the girls were getting ready.  My older sister was trying to find my grandma’s ring to attach to my bouquet but it was no longer in the jewelry bag.  She was freaking out!  All of a sudden my little sister walks into the room and we ask her about it and she holds up her hand and is like oh, this ring??

Tyler:  Funniest moment of the day was definitely when Angie was trying to put the ring on my finger while reciting her vows and getting lost in what the Pastor was telling her.  She had to start the whole thing over again as I shoved the ring onto my own finger.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Angie:  Honestly, there were little things that went wrong, but to me, the day was still perfect! So I’d have to say no.

Tyler: Nope.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We went to Jamaica and stayed at Couples Negril!!  We had the perfect week there.  Great food, great drinks and the nicest people you will ever meet!  We are hoping to go back sometime for a future anniversary.

Thank you guys for everything! You sure do know how to make a couple of photographers feel loved!!!:D

Love love love!

laura+lance

Here it is friends… the wedding we shot in South Dakota!:DI actually met Laura at one of our workshops in 2011… she said to me then, “When the time comes, you’re going to be our wedding photographer!” She definitely stuck to her word!On our way to the church Laura found some sunglasses sitting in her friends car. She rocked them! PS. Where’s Waldo?!;)Laura and Lance had the perfect wedding day for them. Not the usual huge all day – late night affairs that we here in the midwest are accustomed to. One maid of honor, one best man (the Lance’s dad), a ceremony that started at 11am and a day that ended with just the two of them heading to a park to spend the evening basking in their marriage glory.:D

They chose to see each other before the ceremony where they exchanged gifts… and it was perfect. Oh, and FYI, their first site was at 9:30am.;)Then we shot a few portraits of them in that incredible morning South Dakota light…Oh my gosh Laura, could you BE any more beautiful?! BAM!

At 10am we photographed the family portraits…:)Then badaboom badabing, gettin’ married time! These two were so dang cute up there at the altar. Exchanging rings…I love the look on Laura’s face… “WE DID IT! WE’RE MARRIED!”I asked her at the beginning of the day what she was most excited about… her answer: seeing Lance, marrying him, and eating these cupcakes.:)So it was only natural for me to photograph their rings on said cupcakes! I do have to say, they lived up to their hype! After their mingling reception and before they headed off into the sunset (literally), we took the two of them out for 30 minutes to a spot Mike and I found the night before. LOVE this one! My favorite:!:
I’m ridiculously honored that you asked us to photograph this day for you two. I love being around your love.:)Mike’s favorite:!:

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Laura:  Seeing Lance waiting for me at the first look – I couldn’t WAIT to hug him, show him my dress, and get married!! That and Padre’s homily – having a priest who knew both of us before we were ‘us’ made for a great story.:)

Lance: Seeing Laura for the first time.

 Any advice for future Laura/Lances?

Laura:  Plan the day however it makes sense to you and enjoy it!  Also, Bodyglide works great for lace dresses that scratch a little.

Lance: Be cool, calm and collected.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Laura:  My nephew wanting to take photos alongside Mike. Having girl talk before the ceremony with my maid of honor, personal attendant and Bobbi, and later finding out everyone was waiting for us. Hearing all the rumors that people had started within those few minutes “Maybe she passed out! Maybe this is like a real-life runaway bride!”

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Laura:  Not a thing!! We had perfect weather, good food, lots of family and friends to hug and now we’re MARRIED!! The day was a success.

Lance:  Have someone make sure Laura was ready to walk down the aisle.

What did you go for your honeymoon?

After the reception, we drove through Spearfish Canyon and had a picnic supper in the convertible and talked about how well the day went (minus those few long minutes before the ceremony.):-)We’re planning on going to Hawaii this winter!!

Hey Mike, I love you.:)

Laura and Lance, we adore you. We can’t thank you enough for including us in your perfect wedding day!:D

Much love friends!

HELLOOOOO SOUTH DAKOTA!I teased this image on Facebook a few days ago. Jamie Stoia, a photographer in Minnesota, left one of my favorite comments on the image. How I love me a good dad!Love Kate’s face in this one!

How they met, as told by Kate  :: We met at a college campus group volleyball game in the summer of 1998, and admittedly both saw something we liked in the other that day….I referred to him as “the cute boy” when I got home that evening.  We had the same large group of friends throughout the remainder of our college lives, but didn’t start to think about dating each other until May 2000.  After that is was only a few months before there was a ring on my finger and a year later a walk down an aisle.  The rest has been a blessed, crazy, fun, unexpected life! .
