allie

Meet my beautiful cousin Allie :) She’s a senior this year, and was of course in need of some fun senior photos!

With this session came a small dilemma though…

Dilemma: My G-mom and Aunt Kay (Allie’s mom) both prefer traditional backdrop/studio photos with everyone pleasantly smiling at the camera. Well… Allie isn’t a traditional teenager… She’s colorful, she has attitude, she’s quiet, she dyes her hair black, etc. She’s not a smile by the pretty fountain in the park type of girl. So, how do you balance what the senior would like (they are her photos after all) and what mom likes (let’s face it, we’ve gotta make momma happy!)?

Solution: Fun, funky photos in a unique location for Allie… combined with well lit, straight on, smiley face shots for G-mom and Aunt Kay. We think that we captured Allie’s personality perfectly AND took a few for mom to put on her desk/hang on the wall. PUUUUUURE GENIUS!!!!!! HA!

Brittany came along for the shoot… so we thought it would be fun to get a jumping shot with all of the girl cousins :) That’s Brittany on the left (she wasn’t feeling well…) me in the middle and Allie on the right.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Allie is such a neat young woman… and I love her so so so so so much!

She’s a senior at North Kansas City High School… which is also where I went to high school. Now, I know this is weird… But I LOOOOOOVED being a teenager. When we drove through North Kansas City, I all of a sudden was overwhelmed with this HUGE amount of school spirit, it was RIDICULOUS. I began singing our Alma Mater at the top of my lungs and couldn’t remember the second line… it was KILLING ME!!!!!! So, I called my best friend Corrie and asked her to sing it to me :) She knew EVERY word! :D I’m not surprised in the least!

After dinner, the WHOLE family went to Stroud’s for some fried chicked (yeah, last week was NOT a good week on the diet). Corrie came along. :) The hostess was an NKC alum, too (class of 07) :) So there we all were… singing our song.

Any NKC alum reading our blog? If so… remember the words? Blog comment it!

Allie, I’m SO excited to see where your future takes you. Follow your dreams… let NOTHING hold you back. I love you.

You guys know I LOVE my red pants! :)

Actually… he was taking this photo :) It’s probably my new favorite action shot. I love you!

ChrissieMarch 10, 2008 - 5:17 pm

Wooot! These are fantabulous. I love her style (if I weren’t a 27 year old wife of 1 and mother of 2, I’d sooo be more emo-ish), and that you respected that.

DanielleMarch 10, 2008 - 4:45 pm

These might be the greatest senior pics ever! I wish I were that awesome of a senior. Alas… I was a nerd.

LindseyMarch 10, 2008 - 4:02 pm

MollyMarch 10, 2008 - 2:52 pm

I have no idea what the fight song was…but who was your Stroud’s waitress? She was in my graduating class. :)

EmilyMarch 10, 2008 - 2:40 pm

Bobbi!
Love seeing what you do for senior photos! Those are my favorite kind of shoots to do!
I have a question though… you shoot Canon right? What kind of lense do you use most often? What is on Mike’s camera in the photo of him lying on the ground. I just got the Canon 5D and love it! Do you know yet if you are going to Vegas?? :)
Thanks Bobbi for being so AWESOME!

So, do we think we could do one of my b-pics in the same “finish” effect as that one that’s allie’s favorite (the 11th one down)? LOVE. IT.

Lindsey MorenoMarch 10, 2008 - 1:26 pm

I can see why that’s your new favorite action shot…loving the shadows.

I also love how you balanced what Grandma and Mom wanted but were able to capture the true essence of her! AWESOME!

MombaMarch 10, 2008 - 12:56 pm

WOW… These are so Allie. I am glad you and Mikey were the ones to capture Allie’s carefree attitude. She will look back on the day and remember. I love you both for taking care of Allie and Willie’s senior pics. Great Job.
