april+kyle+cameron+cody+cael

Doesn’t that look FUN?! When we first started the session, Cody (the one in front of the slide) was feeling SUPER shy and NOT wanting his photo taken. We had to resort to fun games… like, the “Bobbi chase Cody around the playground game.” He kept running from me. This happened to be one of the times that I won. He’s yelling “AHHHHHHH!!!!!” because he KNEW I caught him! :D

Here’s the HAM of the family, Cael. :)

I love how this image shows all of the different personalities.

Cody and I quickly became the best of friends! This is my favorite image. :!: Look at Cael back there with his gun… AKA a jagged stick. Look at the face he’s making… SO STINKING CUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!!!!!!!!

Bobbi’s HILAAAAAAAARIOUS jokes. Err uhm.. farting noises. :) At one point I even acted like I was farting ON them. Isn’t that DISGUSTING?! Hey… it was a tough crowd!

Mom and Dad :)

Cameron, the oldest, informed me that he NEVER smiles in pictures. AU CONTRAIRE! I’m afraid that you’ve now messed with the WRONG photographer… because that isn’t gonna fly with me. :) BY THE WAY, how cute are all the boys here?!

KANSAS CITY, Mo. When I put up the announcement that I was heading to KC and was scheduling sessions while I was there… April was the FIRST to email :D I’ve known April since we were 12 and by the time we were 13, we had nearly every class together at Eastgate Middle School. Given my 8th grade persona… I can’t believe she trusted me to take her family photos. I was SO ornery!!!! She said I always made her laugh though :) BONUS!!!!

When she emailed, she said that it’d been over two years since their last family photo. SHE THEN went on to tell me about Kyle…

“My year has been kind of crazy, my husband Kyle was in a car accident last November and spent a few months in the hospital. He very nearly didn’t make it and was paralyzed for some time. He has what’s called an “incomplete” spinal cord injury so doctors are very optimistic as to his recovery, they think that he will prob get 90% back. He is now able to walk without a walker now for 20-30 minutes at a time, which is huge but he still has problems with fatigue and pain. The long and short of all of that was that we don’t have any pics of our family together and it would really mean a lot to have one.”

WOW to THAT story! I had fully prepared myself for someone who couldn’t walk when up walks Kyle, April and family. Though he struggled moving around a bit… he never ONCE complained and stayed strong for the entire session. We didn’t travel far… and the kids did enough running around for ALLLLL of us combined!

April and Kyle, I’m SO glad you asked me to come photo your family. April, you’re as incredibly sweet as I remember you :D Isn’t it funny how we never really change? Though… maybe I’m not as ornery as I once was… I HOPE NOT ANYWAY!!!!!

And Kyle… you rock! Here’s to a speedy recovery :D

love!

Okay, so I have to say I never thought I’d love any kid photo more than the one you had on your website of the kid drinking from the fountain. FAV! But the one of those two, with the gun-stick, is TOTALLY my new fav Bobbi. TOTALLY. You look like you had a total blast out there in KC!

Keep on rockin’!

That is so funny – my oldest son is named Cael and he’s our ham! And I say more power to you with the farting noises and stick guns. I grew up with all sisters so I was in for it when I had 2 boys! An example of what our boy world is like: Cael and Ky’s favorite words are Butt (pronounced Buuuhhhtt, giggle, giggle) and Poop! And Cael (not quite 3 yet) crawled into my bed this morning to fart on my pillow, while I was still laying on it! It’s a much grosser world than little girl world was for me, but I wouldn’t leave it for anything. Well done, as always, with the pics! Keep it up!

LOVE this session. That last one of you and the little guy is awesome! So could reconnect with an old friend and that this family could take some time for photos after so much that had happened.

Best wishes to you Kyle as you fully recover.

That’s really a great post.
I thought I was the only one that resulted to using fart noises to get kids attention.
I feel better about it now though. haha.

Bobbi your the funnest ever.
keep up the great work!

ummm. these are all gorgeous. but you know that.

but the real reason for this comment is to say:

“how the heck do you remember something from 8th grade?!”

….i can’t even remember what i had for dinner last night.

Bobbi,

I love this post. It has to be one of my favorites. What wonderful, heartwarming story. I can see and hear you doing as you stated, on your blog. You can definitely see all their personalities in your photos. Great work. Can I have your job?

P.S. Doesn’t Cael look like a Sheridan? (As in Finnegan)

Bobbi,

I am Kyle’s older sister. I just want to thank you for such a lovely portrayal. It warms my heart to see all of them smile. It has been a rough year for them!

You have a gift for sure (and great taste in music)!

Thanks!
