HELLOOOOOOOOO ANNIE! Most of you already know Annie… as she’s the most famous person to ever appear on this blog. I like to name drop my friendship with her as much as I can… I’m convinced that it makes people like me

When Annie suggested starting her maternity session doing yoga… I was THRILLED with the idea! Yoga has been a large part of her pregnancy… and incorporating it was genius! :::ENTER NAME DROP HERE ::: Annie is a friend of ours who has been a LONG time client.  If you don’t know Annie… she has a ridiculously successful cooking blog. You know… THE ANNIE of Annie’s Eats. ::: NAME DROP OVER ::: :D Are you impressed yet? Do you want to be my friend now?  She, along with her family, are in the top three most blogged people on this site. I’m absolutely in LOVE with this image. That baby in Annie’s belly is a baby girl named Caroline.  That picture on the wall? That’s a photo of Annie’s mom, Caroline’s grandma. favorites. Annie, have you aged a DAY since we first met you?! No… really… HAVE YOU?! You’re one of the most beautiful people I know. Both inside and out…  For the last 20 minutes of the session we headed outside. There were a few people who wrote me on Twitter and Facebook who said you saw us out there shooting. Hi to you guys!  GAHHHHH!!!!! GORGEOUS!!!!!! That image on the right? Andrew was a little upset because he’d rather explore the field with his new friend Robbie than get his photo taken. Momma to the rescue! After a few minutes of hanging out with mom, he was goooood to go!  Ben is SUCH an amazing dad. He’s a 4th grade teacher and has the patience of…. well…. a 4th grade teacher!

Like a mechanic’s car that is always broken… or a window washer with dirty windows… Photographers rarely get their photo taken :) ((guilty)).  You see, like many other photographers that we photo’d in Texas… this was their first ever family session.  Rebecca-Linh and her husband Mike knew it was time to make it happen They asked us. Mike’s view. Yes yes yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. That’s a kitchen table… in a field! Rebecca-Linh had but one request… to incorporate that table!  You see, Michael is a fancy chef… AKA, the executive chef at Maggiano’s in Houston. AKA… YUMTOWN, USA! So, needless to say… they spend a lot of time around their kitchen table. It made perfecto sense to me I adore these girls’ little outfits Nice work Rebecca-Linh!

Aja, the little lady with the dark hair on the left… is sweet as can be… and also a bit shy. Getting her to come out of her shell and show us that amazing smile might just be my favorite accomplishment of that week How sweet is this family?!

If that photo on the left isn’t making you smile… please… never visit this blog again! Okay, that’s kind of harsh… but really… how much are they they going to love that photo in twenty years?! A WHOLE DANG LOT! That’s how much!

If you don’t know Sarah… you should! She’s a ridiculously talented photographer based in Austin, Texas.

Technically, it was HER who got the whole ball rolling with us being in Texas to photograph all of these family sessions.  She insisted that it was us who photographed their FIRST ever family session… and she wouldn’t take no for an answer So, we did a search through our inbox for the word Texas… emailed all of those who inquired… and badaboom badabing… we started making plans.

We photographed their rock star themed Halloween wedding back in 2007. Back then, they had Roxy and Kai… and Kai was a toddler then. They’ve since added another one to their rockstar family… Meet Miss Marley Mae

See… told you he’ll be just like Mike I didn’t even set it up this way… it just happened

This family is, to date, the most energetic family we’ve photographed. As a matter of fact, if you look up “fun parents”  in the dictionary… you’ll find  a photo of Angie and Matt.

Cal and Ava, though 3 years apart, are the best of friends.  Usually with a little brother/big sister situation… the big sister is totally annoyed with her little brother.  Not Ava though… she thinks Cal’s hilarious. Though, that may be a different story when they’re not getting their photo taken

Matt could throw Cal higher than I’ve EVER seen a dad throw a kid…. EVERRRR!

Mark my words… Cal, someday, is going to be a very well paid comedian.  He spent the ENTIRE session trying to make me laugh.  It worked.

I couldn’t get my eye close to the viewfinder because I’m a girl I won’t lie… getting up and down from there wasn’t comfortable… nor was it pretty/graceful (I skinned my shin coming back down)… but it was TOTALLY worth it!

He’s a professional stand-in for light testing.  Clearly, he’s been practicing in front of the mirror.

Remember Madison and Jackson??? Of COURSE you do!!! Remember the session with the two adorable kids with the red and blue umbrellas? In the field? YES YES YES! THATTTT ONE! See, told you you’d remember!

Let me tell you… this family is special to us.  There was an instant connection… and I knew they’d always be in our lives. Sandy, their amazing mother (who reminds me SO much of my own… both in looks and personality) has stayed in touch keeping us in the loop about all things jackson+madison She’s also said, many times, that it was time for her to be IN the photos… and that she wouldn’t settle for anyone else taking them.  Talk about pressure!  Photographing/seeing this family was what really clinched the deal on making the trip to Texas.

Sometimes when I’m shooting I turn into karate kid meets J-Lo.

my best Cousin Itt. When I was a kid I had REEEEEEALLY long hair (past the bottom of my butt… yeah, INTENSE!), and I could do this much better… but, not to worry… It seems haven’t lost my touch entirely. :)  The key is pushing your arms forward so it looks like you’re standing backwards.  …Unless you’re a grown up and have grown up girl parts… that’ll give you away EVERY time!

*JUSSSSST in case anyone thought I was serious… I was kidding about the graffiti However, I’m not mad at the person who DID graffiti that wall

Mike, defending my honor in a two on one sword fight… WITHOUT a sword.  He’s my hero…

Then, at the very end of the session, we let the kids take a few photos of us Here Gage is shooting while Alexis is art directing.

She was saying, “Okay guys, I want you to look cool. Casey put your foot up on the wall. Bobbi, kneel down. Mike… yes… that… perfect!”

SEEEEEE!!!!! Here we are… TWINS!!!!!! When she walked up, with a bounce in her step… looking IDENTICAL to me… I had one of those rare speechless Bobbi moments. It was as though I was looking at a much younger version of myself. I was blown away.  I took an iPhone pic and sent it to my Aunt Karen… didn’t give an explanation… just sent it.  Her response, “OH MY GOSH IS THAT YOU?!!!?!? THAT IS WILD!!!” Then at the end of the session I called her… she wanted to talk to Alexis, “Hi sweetie… You have one of my favorite faces in the entire world!”

You know how every kid has a funny face?  Well… here’s mine Famously referred to as “the cabbage patch face.” I wanted to see if she could do it. You have to have pretty distinct features for this to work. Are you KIDDING me?! My twin… 100000%

There aren’t many photos of me from this age… but I was DETERMINED to find one as soon as I got home.  This was the best I could do Crazy, huh?!  Alexis, you’re stuck with me now my friend… we’re best friends for LIFE! :D  I’m going to photograph your wedding someday, MARK MY WORDS!  Thanks for being such a good sport about this Really… thank you. :D

We went to Fort Wayne to visit Mike’s family for Thanksgiving. The day after, Mike spent time with the family shopping… and I went to visit one of my favorite families…

I literally spent all day experiencing a day in the life of the King’s.  I’m kind of known for staying at someone’s house far too long.  I’m an incredibly low maintenance friend.  All I want to do is sit around and just be in the presence of people I love.  No need to entertain me. I just hate to leave when I’m happy. A wee bit inconsiderate? Maybe. Loving? Absolutely!

While I was there, I busted out the camera for a quickie photo session around the house.

I absolutely 100% love this family.  I love that I met Betsy when she was only a few months pregnant with Miles.  I love that I met Miles when he was only a month old. I love that I met Jocelyn when she was only a week old.  I just love love love LOVE!

This is now the fifth time that I’ve photographed them.

A couple of years ago, I was telling a friend about Betsy… and he said, “oh, Betsy… with blue-eyed Miles?” These eyes are unforgettably blue… and they haven’t changed a bit!

Introducing Jocelyn!!!! She’s perfect in every way. She looks a lot like Miles when he was a baby…. except for the blue eyes.  Her eyelashes are the longest I’ve ever seen.  She’ll never need mascara.

This photo absolutely 100% represents Betsy and where she is in her world right now …and I couldn’t love it more.  It’s, hands down, my favorite photo I’ve taken of her to date.  Betsy, you’re so beautiful.

(by the way… someone emailed me asking about Jocelyn’s diaper… so I asked Betsy. It’s a Grasshopper cloth diaper and Betsy LOVES them.  Hope that helps!)

THENNNN… because we’re wacky… we decided to try and recreate the famous laying on the bed photo that we took almost exactly 3 years ago.  That’s a WHOLE lot easier said then done!  Here was our best one I love it!
