whoa.

March/April to a tax accountant is a photographer’s September/October/November…

These last two and a half months have been nothing short of chaos. But amazing chaos nonetheless! We’ve traveled from coast to coast for some incredible weddings, spoke at a photography conference in Michigan, photographed a ton of awesome sessions, and this past week we’ve been knee deep in bbmk workshop amazingness. Oh, and to top it off, holiday ordering deadlines are this week, BOOOOOM!

So, we’ve been shooting/traveling a ton with very little time between to process the images …and that’s what the rest of November will be full of!

Here’s what we have coming up…

WHOA IS RIGHT!

For those of who are too excited to wait for the full blog post, I always post up a sneak peek over on the bobbi+mike Facebook page. So, head over there and “Like” us if you want to stay in the loop.:)

And because a blog post just doesn’t look right without an image, here’s one of us taken at our most recent workshop by attendee Julia.:)

the crop.

Hi friends! Hope your Wednesday is starting off perfectly!:D

As most of you know, we shot and posted an engagement session on Saturday… Lauren and Danny’s  (who were getting married the very next day).

The photo of them on a tree got us lots of high fives.:DThanks for always being so kind to us. I won’t lie, I was really proud of it.

That being said, there were a few people who thought we/they worked much harder for that image than we did.

“Hmmm. that tree looks Photoshoppy?” -Shelly

“Wow You got them up a tree. Awesome! I love that shot.” -Mario

Maybe it looked like I superimposed them into that tree using Photoshop… that I took a photo of the tree and an image of them separately and pieced them together.

….or maybe I had brought a ladder and asked them to climb into the branch….

But…. we didn’t do either of those things….

“Tricky…. tricky. That tree branch is much closer to the ground than it appears.” -Tracy

BINGO!

Our clients have often heard me say, after showing up to a scene that looks less than picturesque… “It’s all about the crop!” They smile, nod and trust me.:D(Right Anthony;))

Admittedly, getting the crop just right took me a little bit. Finding a way to remove that building thing from the image took some belly wiggling up that hill.:)

To prove that the scene is real… I’m posting a “getting my camera settings right before I make this perfect” image. The only Photoshopping that I did was remove an old frayed rope that appeared to be a noose (though, was probably an old rope swing)… I’m sure you understand!

Thanks for being the best blog readers/commenters in the world. You guys have a way of always keeping me motivated. Thank you.:)

Much love friends!

~bobbi:!:

PS. I just realized that “belly wiggling” sounds like an innuendo for something that has nothing to do with cropping!  :D

PPS. Announcing the next round of photography workshops soon, to be the first to know sign up here!

meet us in st louis!

…another blog entry I lost in the site crash last week… reposting a quickie version of it…

You read that right! We’re honored to announce that we, along with our friend becker, are feeeeeeatured speakers… but this time… it’s in OUR NECK OF THE WOODS! And by “our neck of the woods” we mean only four hours away…:)

A summary from the site about our topic, “bobbi+mike share what they consider to be the root of their success – how a relaxed down-to-earth relationship with their clients allows everyone to enjoy their session as much as they do the photos that are taken!”

For more information and to register for tickets check out the site here!

Hope to meet many of my Missouri friends there!!!:D

Love,

stephanie+jason

Meet Stephanie and Jason:)Two of the most fun people we’ve EVER photographed… They also happen to be the most stylish:DFavorite:!:
These were the last grouped to be photographed in our series of workshops… and they were oh so easy to photograph… almost too easy! At one point I walked up to them and said, “Can you be awkward… just for a SECOND?”  I’m not kidding, I really did. They tried, they failed.;)confirmed!I’m thinking about having a creativity hat made… because I wear it ALL THE TIME!;)
LOVE!!!!! Another favorite…:!:SO GORGEOUS! This is Mike’s favorite:?:She looks like a young Michelle Pfeiffer in this one…YES YES YES!I just adore you two!ANOTHER favorite:!:You are GORGEOUS!!!!!Okay, I have 4 favorites… whatever… it’s my blog… I can do what I want!:!:Jason, you have the most gorgeous eyes. Wow to those…This image, in my opinion, is the reason why we’re so passionate about our job.  I want you all to look at this image and pretend that it’s a photo of your grandparents… before they had kids… before they were married…. before they had careers… before anything else, beyond each other, mattered. Someday, this young couple will be grandparents… and these images will be loved so much more than they are right now.  And for that reason, I take this job so incredibly seriously. What we as photographers do… matters… and it matters a lot.
