healthy train | 6.

Hi friends:)

Hope your summer is wonderful so far:DMine… mine is good but, like always… I have over-extended myself and am feeling a weeee bit overwhelmed. When am I ever going to learn?!

Needless to say… this is going to be a quickie entry today… have lots to do before tomorrows wedding.

So, I noticed that Scott  posted this  on the Facebook Healthy Train page a couple of weeks ago…

“Tell your story: What’s something you can do TODAY that you couldn’t do (or had trouble doing) when you started on the Healthy Train?”

There were so many great responses:)

That got me to thinking… what’s my answer to that? And after much thought, here’s what I came up with:

  • Buy clothes off the rack
  • I can shoot more comfortably
  • I can carry 80lbs of gear up the stairs without getting winded
  • I don’t hate mirrors
  • Printed new photos of myself with Mike
  • Sit down without being paranoid about my stomach

The BIGGEST one for me is absolutely the “buy clothes off the rack” thing…. For the last 7 years, I’ve had to special order nearly all of my clothes online. They sell chubby clothes in stores for average heighted women… but me… I’m anything but average height. Oh… not to mention the size of my uhm… coconuts. Because my clothing situation sucked… I HATED going out in public because 1) the clothes were ugly 2) they didn’t fit well 3) I wore the same outfit nearly every day.

I even bought a new suit… NOT ONLINE:DHere it is. Oh, and isn’t that Mike man so damn hot?!

So… yeah… while I’m not at my goal weight yet… It’s great to remind myself how far I’ve come.

You should do the same. SO, on THAT note… what’s your answer?

What’s something you can do TODAY that you couldn’t do (or had trouble doing) when you started on the Healthy Train?

SO, how’d you all do these last two weeks? Me = holding steady at 4.3%.

And for the top five:

Jill Pollitt     17.54%
Devan Whitson     12.51%
Jessica Harrison     9.44%
Scott Neumyer    7.98%
Angie Livesay      7.02%

Jill, can’t wait to see your progress pic in two weeks!:D

Oh, speaking of “after pics.” I don’t mean to get all hard ass on you guys… but someone brought up a very interesting point… that people could alter their “after pics” so that they could win. This just won’t fly with team Healthy Train sooo… your photos need to be sent to me straight out of camera… no resize, no editing… NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH IT! :)  By reading the file info I’ll be able to see “date created” and “date modified” If the file has been modified in ANY WAY you will be disqualified. Okay, hard ass over.:)

To those on the train, be sure to weigh in via the Google doc!:D

Speaking of the Google doc… PLEASE only fill in your own box.:)Also, no deleting… anything, ANYTHING! k, thanks:)

A few quick reminders:

  • Next official weigh in is July 23rd.
  • If you’re a twitterer, be sure to add the hashtag #healthytrain to your HT tweet.
  • Join  “bobbi’s healthy train” group on Facebook… ANYONE can join… not just the people with the before pics. My trainer is an admin … so if you have fitness questions, ask ‘em there!  Dane is also an admin, so if you have questions about diet/need motivation… he’s the guy to talk to. We’d love to have you…:D
  • You don’t have to be officially competing to participate.
  • If you haven’t measured yourself yet, DO IT!
  • We’ll be taking optional “progress pics” in two weeks to keep the motivation levels high, oh… and I fully expect the top 5 to join in on that, we’d love to see what these huge numbers are looking like… OHHHH YESSSSSS!!!!
  • Finale date is October 29th.

I adore you guys… thanks for keeping us all motivated!:D

LOVE!!!!!

~bobbi:!:

Devan, my graduation run for C25K is tomorrow. I am SO excited. I can’t believe I’m done already – I feel like I just started yesterday. I feel so incredibly cool now that I can run 3 miles without stopping! Pretty soon you will too — it’s awesome!

This getting back into shape thing after being OLD and having a baby is tough tough tough! Even though I am holding steady on my weight, I’m loosing inches little by little. I too can’t believe how busy this summer is with photography (Bobbi be happy to know that you aren’t the only one who was a silly and over-extended themselves!) but we are eating out less and going to the gym more. We also bought our little guy a great stroller and are walking at night! :D

MichelleJuly 9, 2010 - 3:37 pm

I can get into most of my before baby clothes- it’s not 100% comfortable, yet, but an accomplishment I am proud of none-the-less. :o)(And @BOBBI- that also means my before baby coconut holders haha)TMI?

MichelleJuly 9, 2010 - 3:30 pm

I can wear clothes that show off my awesome tattoo.

DevanJuly 9, 2010 - 2:42 pm

Bahahahaahahaah
Congrats on the chiseler!! That just made my craptastic week all better.

Chris RJuly 9, 2010 - 2:39 pm

I still have to fill out the google doc now that it is fixed but I just had to comment on things I can now do or do better. I was in the first healthy train and from then till now, there is a world of difference! I can sit comfortably in a booth at a diner or restaurant, I can tie my shoes without having to sit down and lift up my leg, I went to an amusement park this weekend and fit in the seats of the roller coasters. I can walk for HOURS without getting tired, my kids can give me a hug and touch their hands together. I can wear my seatbelt in my car again. And if the ladies can speak of their “girls” I can say that since I have chiseled off alot of fat that I got a bigger chiseler!! Haha life is good and getting better!

DevanJuly 9, 2010 - 2:33 pm

Runnning!!! Never in my life have I been a runner…I am still working on the C25k program, but I can run a full 8 minutes, no problem. When I first started I was dying at 30 seconds and was only walking 1/2 mile-1 mile and thinking I was doing something huge….so much can change in 3 months. I attended a wedding on Saturday and got so many compliments and am so thrilled with how I look in all of the crazy pictures that we took. Can’t say I have felt that way in a LONG time.

I am so excited for progress pictures! You are all doing awesome.

cutest picture ever! I hope you have a giant canvas of it somewhere in your house!

I’m not doing the “healthy train” but i am trying to lose weight. I am also in my first year of business as a photographer. I got a fortune cookie (okay okay i was eating chinese, bad girl i know!) Anyway, my fortune was this: “Do not let great ambitions overshadow small successes”

How appropriate for both weight loss and my first year in business as a photographer! Yeah, I’m no BobbiandMike, but hey, I have paying clients now and have created some pretty awesome images! Yeah, I may not have lost any real weight yet, but I’ve been going to the gym for more than 2 months straight, which is more consistant than i have EVER been in my life… which is something!

Small successes people! Keep it up.. you guys inspire me!

christine.sJuly 9, 2010 - 2:11 pm

bobbi,
if i could reach through the puter and kiss you i would…. you have such a way of saying things that are just so inspiring….. thankyou for being you and sharing it with the world

CassieJuly 9, 2010 - 2:05 pm

I adore that picture of you two…SO cute! :)

Alison DJuly 9, 2010 - 1:00 pm

I am spitting distance to 2/3 of my way to my goal weight and I cannot even begin to tell you the long list of things I can do now that I couldn’t do before! I can see my toes when standing up straight. I can race my kids up the hill to our house and win!I can sit in an airplane seat with my hubby comfortably. I can go on amusement park rides. The only reason I am self concious at the beach any more is my bathing suit is too big and the girls may make an appearance. I can shave my legs in my stall shower. I still hate clothes shopping, but it is less horrific than before. I will stop ther, but every single day I see new things. Thanks guys for being such motivators and I LOVE to see everyone elses journey!

StephJuly 9, 2010 - 12:49 pm

I second also being able to play with my child. I’ve lost 20 lbs since March, and along with a healthy diet and strength training, I’ve completed a 5k program – It is so amazing that I can actually play tag with my 4 year-old and not get tired. I feel like a better mother, which in itself is an amazing feeling.

Catlin HumesJuly 9, 2010 - 12:28 pm

Yeah, no liquify! lol. I finally got off of the drugs that made me gain weight in the first place so I am finally making progress! I now do not as paranoid about my arms! Yay!

scott neumyerJuly 9, 2010 - 12:06 pm

You guys and gals are all AWESOME! Keep up the amazing work, everyone!

Katie MathewsJuly 9, 2010 - 11:34 am

I can play with my son and have fun doing it and not be tired. We now go on family bike rides and play badminton in the evening…it’s great!
