healthy train | week 17.

I gained .8 pounds this week… and I worked my booooty off.  I'm so incredibly bummed… I'm so sick of this. Total weight loss in 17 weeks: 12.4 lbs. wow… knock 'em dead Bob.

How'd you do?

~bobbi :!:

EDITED TO ADD: I took a new before and after photo….

First one taken 10.17.08…. Second one taken 12.19.08…. Third one taken today.

I don't see that much of a difference… but there you have it :) And by the way… I wore a new black shirt for my most recent photo… :D

Thanks for standing by me… even when I'm being a debbie downer…

LOVE!!!!!

PS. Sorry about not updating the list… I PROMISE to do it next week… just feelin' a little bummed this week, I'm sure you guys understand.

PPS. My hair has grown A LOT!!!!! (It grows SO fast!)

PPPS. Why do I ALWAYS wear my belt crookedly?!

I have to come out of my lurkedom to tell you to not be bummed out! You’re doing great!! You don’t have a ton to lose so its going to come off slower. If you worked hard this week just keep up the same effort and I’m willing to bet you see a big loss at the scale next week

aww Bobbi, I wish I could give you a hug right now. You sound so down. :( Seriously, you gained less than 1 lb in a week….think about how minimal that is and how easy it is for our weight to fluctuate each day (especially us girls at certain times). :( Have you tried swimming at all? I heard that is a really great cardio workout and it is low stress/impact on the body. If you haven’t already, talk to your trainer about the wall you are hitting and how unmotivated you feel…this is a good time to maybe change a few things up. Also, revisit what got you motivated in the first place…find that fire. You are doing great, don’t be so hard on yourself. I bet it is even harder when you are making it such a public thing too…its like admitting failure to everyone you know (but you aren’t failing).

hugs :)

Awww. I was so sad for you this morning. Are you measuring as well? I am no expert but I know when I joined a gym they said the scales might go up because muscles weigh more than fat and I might be burning off fat and building muscles. You might well have lost ‘fat’ this week.. you are just a healthier muscle wise. Again, I certainly shouldn’t be counted on about it but ask your trainer? You are rocking it.. 12+pounds more than had you not started.. and that is worth celebrating!!

Awww Bobbi, you’re still a hottie! Look seriously…if you want to do more pics, you’re gonna need a side profile shot too…just because you can’t see it in the front doesn’t mean you’re not shrinking anyway. (and muscle weighs more than fat!)

Looking at the pics, you can totally see it! Your pants look like you’re swimming in them (get some skinny jeans, you’ll see the difference!!!) and your face is showing more definition too….should we even get into the ‘girls’ appearance?? (I hated it seemed like they were the first thing to go! LOL)

PLUS Look at all of the background you can see between your arms and body.

don’t beat yourself up…you’re doing great!!

I’m stuck still at 165. Glad I’m not going up (and pms water weight is around the corner…) Ahh well. I just ordered a better scale. Afraid what it’s going to tell me.

February 6, 2009 @ 4:46 pm

don’t get too down – remember muscle weighs more than fat. So even if the scale doesn’t say it your clothes certainley do. Keep it up because the results are showing (even if they are frustrating at times). Try taking measurements too, you may be surprised at how many inches you are losing – sometimes that was more motivating to me than the weight.

Comment by April

February 6, 2009 @ 4:48 pm

You look so much thinner and toned! I know you are getting tons of suggestions…but I’m going to add my two cents as well… allow your self one (in moderation ) cheat day. This way your body isn’t expecting the same thing day after day. It might shock your body and get it to start burning lots of fat again. Even on biggest loser, they have a cheat day after their weigh in.
Keep up the amazing work!

Bobbi, You look amazing! I can see the difference in those pictures! I go through the same thing – losing a few pounds here without really trying too hard, then gaining a few stinking .8lbs when you feel like you’ve worked out longer and harder than the previous week, that’s how it is, but you’ve stayed on that healthy train CHOO CHOO! And I think your husband is right, it’s in your longer hair!
Seriously, keep it up, girl!
p.s. did you you ever have any of those “Get In Shape Girl!” sweatbands or hoola hoops growing up? I had the hoola hoop and some headband. I should see if they are still in the basement at my parents’ house!

I think you look amazing, but I know sometimes it doesn’t matter what anybody else sees, it’s what you see that changes how you feel about yourself. You are beautiful at whatever size, but as you’re becoming stronger and more fit, you have the opportunity to walk into the world that much prouder of how you present yourself.

You go, girl!

okay.. to steal your words… AYKM!?!?!? YOU CAN’T SEE A DIFFERENCE??!?! Look at your shoulders, the shadow on your neck! There’s a BIG difference there. Your neck looks slimmer, yours shoulders smoother, etc. You’re lookin’ good. :) Don’t get down on yourself cuz you sure work harder at this than anyone I know and you should be rewarding and praising yourself for keeping so hard-core about it. We’re joining a gym soon because of your attitude so I don’t want to hear it. ^_^ YOU ROCK!

Bobbi- your pics are awesome!!! I can totally see a difference and I love the new hair!! I had a rough week with everything too, lots of emotions come up when losing weight. We tend to forget about the little things like looser clothes, thinner faced, and the ability to walk up & down stairs without being totally winded! We need to totally embrace those triumphs!
I was off my exercise plan a bit this week because I have a bum foot, but I did manage to lose 3 lbs. Bringing my total to 28!!

We can do this people!!

Bobbi- please try not to be too disappointed. You look fabulous and the important part is that you are getting healthier, even if the scale doesn’t always say so. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off. I didn’t get a chance to post last week, I was having some computer issues. So, my weight loss for last week and this week combined- 1.5 pounds. I am a regular blog-reader (love your photos), and also love Biggest Loser. They say that your body hits a plateau after a while (for the contestants it’s week 2 usually) but that is when your body is telling you its time to switch up the workouts – keep it guessing what’s coming next.

Keep it up – its frustrating but I also hear if you do something for 21 consecutive days it becomes a habit!

I agree with what everyone says – it’s not the number on the scale, it is the way your clothes fit. Muscle weighs more than fat – and while you will overall lose weight – muscle burns more calories at rest than fat does. So do not get discouraged – I can tell a difference between picture 1 and 2! You look absolutely fabulous dahling!

I’ve never commented on your blog, but I read it all the time and think you and Mike are FABULOUS photographers. You’re what I strive to be when I decide to take it all seriously. As for the weight loss, I think you look fabulous! I’m also biased because we have the same exact hair cut it looks like. :P While it’s subtle, you can see a difference in your neck. I’m in the process of trying to lose weight as well and even if I feel like junk in my photos, I look very hard for any positives I can find I focus soley on those. You also look fabulous in your clothes!
