healthy train | week 3.

chooo CHOOOO!!!!!!

How did you guys do????:D

Me? I lost .6 pounds:DBetter than a gain of .6 so whatever… I'll take it:DTotal weight loss is 3.6 pounds for the last 3 weeks.  I didn't work out as much as I should have because I was a wee bit sick… and then traveled again.  Not making excuses… just telling you what happened.  Bleh…:)

I've been watching The Biggest Loser lately…. and if you're on the Healthy Train and aren't watching it… I HIGHLY suggest you start! On Tuesday, I got all caught up by watching the episodes that I'd missed on hulu.com.  You know, when I see those guys push push pushing themselves it motivates the poopy out of me… you know… if they can do it, why the hell can't we?!

I've also been reading on twitter and facebook that MANY of you are SOOO nervous about going to a gym… they feel embarrassed… and fat… and like they don't belong there. I 1000000% get that…. when I first started going, I had my heart rate up ridiculously high before I'd even step FOOT in the place!  HELLOOOOO ANXIETY ATTACK!!!!!! So, then I started noticing that after I'd been going for a while and started getting more comfortable with it… and stopped only thinking about how ridiculous I looked… I looked around… and not only did I see a bunch of VERY fit people… but I also saw people who weren't in the best of shape… people who weren't in a healthy place in their lives… people who may have needed to be there because their lives depended on it… and it's THOSE guys who keep me motivated to keep trying.  It's THOSE guys who I want to give a high five to… it's THOSE guys who push me to not give up.  So, if you're in that position… where you feel like you're not healthy enough to go to a gym… Au contraire!  Just know that there are SO many people there who see you working your ass off and want to give you a high five! I'm not sure if any of that makes sense… Hope it does.

Oh, and speaking of Biggest Loser… I bought a BodyBugg… should get here next week.  What's a BodyBugg you ask? It's a device that "uses specialized sensors to monitor calories burned with over 90% accuracy" They wear them on that show… so, I'll let you know how that goes.:)

Okay, now on to you… Remember last week when I was shocked that there were 80+ before photos sent in? Well… throughout the rest of the day… we received even more… the NEW total of people competing on this healthy train? 112. ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE!!!! AYKM AYKM AYKM???!??!!?

As you all report your weight loss… just tell me in percentage of body weight lost… And if you don't know how to figure that… I'm going to tell you now:DOh, and I want your TOTAL loss since the VERY beginning :D

Your weight lost ÷ your starting weight × 100 = % of weight lost

Let's pretend that you were 200 pounds, and you you'd lost 5 pounds… that would be:

5 ÷ 200 = .025 × 100 = 2.5%

Make sense?  If it doesn't… email me your numbers and I'll walk you through it:D

I'd tell you all my percentage lost… but that would give away my weight as I've already told you my pounds lost…. OOOOOOPS!!!! I'm a pretty open person… but sharing my weight with the world isn't something I'm 100% comfortable with:)

Make sure that you ALLLLLLL report it down there in the comment section, k? Just like last time… it's too hard for me to keep track of it on Facebook, comments, twitter, email, etc etc etc… so, if all of the info is in one place… I'll be able to keep up with it better:)Thanks guys!

GrantOctober 24, 2009 - 12:23 am

I’ve lost a total of 2.69!

CindyOctober 23, 2009 - 5:05 pm

1.1% – keep it up!

ChellOctober 23, 2009 - 3:26 pm

Hang in there. We all have those bad weeks. I am still following along even though I did not send in my before picture. Since we started this round I am down 2.3%

Jerrie HaskinOctober 22, 2009 - 8:27 pm

i wanna join!!!! what do i need to do?

Catie RonquilloOctober 19, 2009 - 2:56 pm

Lost 0.4% Better than nothing. But I’m pretty much convinced the balance scale at the gym is BROKEN! Oh well. Keep it going!

JaimieOctober 14, 2009 - 7:08 pm

So I’m … a few days late. However, I did weigh myself last Friday and I had gained a pound :( That’s a .006% gain. BOO!

Steph HOctober 14, 2009 - 11:19 am

Sorry I’m late. We’ve got the sickies floating around here!

are we reporting total percentage lost since week one?

In that case I’m down 2.12%

SusieOctober 14, 2009 - 8:43 am

Sorry I’m late – 0% change :\

Jessica ParkisonOctober 12, 2009 - 11:16 pm

i’m down 1.8%!!!

Jessica SOctober 12, 2009 - 4:28 pm

I’m down 0.7%. I was out of town all weekend which is why I’m just now getting around to posting… also, found out my scale was broken last week, it showed i’d lost 10 pounds, then we figured out it wasn’t working correctly… but i still lost some once we got a new scale!

Kylene GayOctober 12, 2009 - 3:57 pm

I’m down 1.875%! Not massive, but like you said, at least it’s negative! :) We were out of town alllll last week and I wasn’t as strict about eating as I’d like to be. I’ve started doing late night workouts on Wii Active if I didn’t make time during the day. It’s nice to go to bed feeling like you at least did something! Thanks Bobbi!!

RachelOctober 12, 2009 - 2:12 pm

I’m late too… but yay! Down 2%. Not as much as I’d hoped, since I’ve been keeping my calories down AND hitting the gym 5-6 days a week for 3 weeks, but maybe I gained some muscle too? Need to cut out the junk and eat more “good” calories too…

SarahOctober 12, 2009 - 1:09 pm

Reporting a bit late, but I’m down 1.05% since I started two weeks ago. I’ve got a 5k this weekend so hopefully that helps on the exercise side!

oneshotbeyondOctober 12, 2009 - 12:50 pm

I’ve lost 2.5% total since starting two weeks back. Not bad, but I need to step up the exercise if I want to keep losing steadily!

LindsayOctober 12, 2009 - 9:56 am

Sorry I was offline this weekend. I did weigh myself on Friday though. Down 4lbs…so down 1.8%. Thankfully I measured my self at the start and am thrilled to have lost an inch of my waist!

AmyOctober 12, 2009 - 8:48 am

Down 2.5 in 2 weeks! YAY!
Amy in Milwaukee

jodi pfunderOctober 12, 2009 - 8:32 am

MaryjaneOctober 12, 2009 - 8:16 am

Jessica MonnichOctober 12, 2009 - 2:09 am

Can I still join the healthy train? Sounds awesome!

Watty (Angela Watts)October 12, 2009 - 12:09 am

I emailed a photo in, but didn’t see my name.

I gained 1.4 lbs! :(

Today was a new day, we’ll see if I can get the scale saying a better number to me come Friday!

Great Job everyone else!

Jen CreedOctober 11, 2009 - 11:17 pm

None for me….I reported in late! But will definitely have something to show for the next weigh in! Everyone is so inspiring!

Elle.MOctober 11, 2009 - 3:58 pm

Forgot to report in yesterday…busy with niece and nephew. Ive gained this week…2.7lbs,not sure what that is in %. I just started going back to the gym this week though, first time since may…as ive been given the all clear from drs…so hopefully next week i will have much better results to show :)

laura h.October 11, 2009 - 10:10 am

is it too late to join this healthy train?

Nancy HermannOctober 11, 2009 - 7:44 am

I lost 2.08%. Thanks Bobbi for getting me back on track!

Angel CanaryOctober 10, 2009 - 11:45 pm

2.5% BABY! I had a back strain and was on PREDNISONE, which makes you gain weight, so I am Proud!! Thanks for the inspiration!!! Whooo Hoooo!!

Melissa DillingOctober 10, 2009 - 7:47 pm

I’m down 4.95% since the start! Woo Hoo! Thanks for starting this. It’s really keeping me accountable!

Dane BentonOctober 10, 2009 - 3:16 pm

Way to go everyone!!! Keep up your hard work :)
I’m down 3.69% and am loving everyone’s encouragement and the accountability!

All the best.

SoniaOctober 10, 2009 - 2:17 pm

1.4% over the last week! Hooray!

JulieOctober 10, 2009 - 12:42 pm

Grrr. I actually gained. But I don’t think I actually got my true motivation until about mid week. Hope to have better news to report next time! ;-)

Jon BelschnerOctober 10, 2009 - 12:13 pm

For the last three weeks I have a total of 2.2%!

Melissa MorrisOctober 10, 2009 - 12:06 pm

-2.1% so far :)

michelleOctober 10, 2009 - 11:51 am

So I didn’t get my pics sent in. Whatev. I’m still working out though. :) And to add to what you were saying… I’m about 20lbs away from my ideal weight. So for people who see me working out in the gym I look like one of those “fit” people. And I have no problem going to the yoga classes or the treadmill, etc. But I decided to take up triathlons so now I’m hitting the pool to develop my freestyle stroke. I COMPLETELY had myself SO FREAKED out to put on a swimsuit and get in that pool. I thought everybody in there would sense my ineptitude in the water and they’d call me a poser and kick me out. They didn’t though!! In fact, they were ultra supportive and encouraging. Sometimes I think we don’t give people the credit they deserve. Anyway, I may not be an “official healthy train” competitor but I am working out with you in spirit and am totally motivated by what this group is doing. :)

MeredithOctober 10, 2009 - 11:39 am

Ahh – I actually gained 1lb this week (and I”m also on vacation right too) but reading about everyone elses losses has motivated me so much!!! I am already looking forward to the next weigh in!!

JoyOctober 10, 2009 - 10:15 am

I’m at 0. I guess even steven is better than gaining, especially since I haven’t been exercising the last few days. But next week I’m kicking it into action. Watch out! And good, no, GREAT job, fellow healthytrainers! YOU inspire ME!

nicole greenOctober 10, 2009 - 8:06 am

down 1.8%! :) dan is down 0.9% .. we’re both hoping to do better this week. we finally went grocery shopping and stocked up on healthy foods. that means no more going out. yay! :)

amanda (amanda fales photography)October 10, 2009 - 6:59 am

amanda – down 2.83% ! :)
andy – down 0.978%

choo-choooooo! :)

Leanne StamatellosOctober 10, 2009 - 2:00 am

congratulations on all of these losses – it is so motivating to read.

I started 2 weeks ago and I have lost 3.72% of fat – I’m feeling great – the change in food lifestyle has given me noticeable energy. I make healthy choices, even have indulged in the odd square of chocolate (but I do mean odd square – not like before when I could have easily devoured a block alone). I’ve also found that by cutting back my gluten, I feel alot better – haven’t cut the carbohydrates back dramatically though.

Thanks for everything!

EmVrealOctober 10, 2009 - 1:51 am

0% this week. I joined Healthy Train to get through this plateau (made a lifestyle change back in March and am down 19.2%), but now am plagued with this foot injury. I’m WATCHING my cousin as she runs a Marathon this weekend. So I know THAT will
get me goin’ again.

Great job everyone!

Tracy H.October 10, 2009 - 12:47 am

Down 2.8% so far and mighty proud of a little progress this week considering we were on vacation… was it ever hard to skip the deserts when everyone else had one, but I did it!

Keep up the great work everyone!

Karen KarkiOctober 10, 2009 - 12:40 am

Down .53% in 2 weeks…

It is not a lot so far, but I’m still feeling stronger and excited about getting in better shape even if the scale hasn’t changed that much! Great job everyone. Thanks for the encouragement and accountability!

Lindsey JoyOctober 10, 2009 - 12:38 am

I’m down 1.3%, beto is down .86% Yay for accountability… it’s gym time!!!! :)

Angi DavisOctober 10, 2009 - 12:34 am

Down 1.72% – total lost since April = 32 lbs. And for those thinking they don’t belong to a gym, you’re wrong. When I joined on August 1st, I still weighed over 300 lbs. The gym is for me. And it is for you. Good luck…

AmyOctober 9, 2009 - 11:05 pm

down 1.68% in 2 weeks

total weight lost (in 11 weeks): 7.2 lbs… WOW! I didn’t even realize until just now that I lost that much!! I’m DEFINITELY picking up steam now thanks to your challenge! I may just be at my goal by Feb. :) Hooray for getting back in shape!!

You rock Bobbi!

BrianOctober 9, 2009 - 11:00 pm

I’m rocking at -0.19%. Like you said, better than +0.19. Thanks for the inspirational notes. I like your style.

GrantOctober 9, 2009 - 10:44 pm

I’m down 1.76 this week!

Darren and Melissa SmithOctober 9, 2009 - 10:32 pm

For some reason I did not make to on the list. Melissa and I are both on the train and here are our updates for the past week.

Darren – down .87%
Melissa – even for the week.

Thanks for all the encouragement!

KatieOctober 9, 2009 - 10:30 pm

down 2.95% since the healthy train started! :) way to go team!!

April (April foster events)October 9, 2009 - 10:10 pm

I’m down 3.2% and am happy with it, but wish the weight could come off faster :) great job to everyone on their losses

NicoleOctober 9, 2009 - 10:08 pm

I gained 1 lb. But considering I didn’t work out once, that’s not too bad. And because it’s my birthday week, I have myself the okay to eat what I wanted. If that’s wrong, then I don’t want to be right. (I’ll be back on the train Monday after I have my mother in law’s fab red velvet cake on Sunday)

Annie & TobyOctober 9, 2009 - 9:14 pm

Annie :: -0.99%
Toby :: even this week

NicholeOctober 9, 2009 - 9:03 pm

ok, so this accountability thing is GOING to be good for me. unfortunately i am up 1 lb and my awesome hubby who started this with me for support is down 3 lbs AND he doesn’t do anything to really cause weight loss except he is a freaking work horse and does a laborous job all day. yay…go Kenny! so i will commit to exercising this week. thanks for all your encouragement, bobbi and all the rest of you!
Nichole +.65%
Kenny – 2.53%

Alison DOctober 9, 2009 - 9:01 pm

I am at 2.6% and I am just shocked! It is working. The biggest news this week is by big old butt RAN! And I didnt die! I am proud of myself and can’t wait to see how far I can go! On another note, I won and amazing vacation today in a contest, so now I have even more motivation to kick it into high gear!

Way to go ladies, every little change makes a difference!

betherlyOctober 9, 2009 - 8:17 pm

Down 1.6% since the start of healthy train. Will get more serious about it after this weekend. At least it’s going in the right direction! Woo Hoo to those who are losing lots!!!

Amber VOctober 9, 2009 - 8:16 pm

Down 2.42% since getting on board the healthy train 3 weeks ago. Yaaaaaaay!!!!

JenDOctober 9, 2009 - 8:08 pm

Down 1.86% in two weeks. Thanks for the motivation!

Sara HOctober 9, 2009 - 7:32 pm

up. that’s all i’m going to say right now. ok, ok, +3.4 lbs

no excuses, but I have been sick.

NatalieOctober 9, 2009 - 7:24 pm

I don’t know what to think!!! My “Aunt Flo” is coming soon and I think that’s wrecking havoc. I went to the doc last week and was down, I go to the gym early this week and I’m up and I use my Wii Fit yesterday and I’m still up, but 45 min. later–I’m down.

So, if I go by my last weigh-in, then I’m 2% smaller than I was three weeks ago.

Good things though–I bought Pilates and Wii Fit Plus. At the end of the month, my son is joining swim team twice a week, so I can work out while he’s in swimming. I’m struggling to break up with dairy and soda.

We’re going on vacay soon and I’ll be doing a lot of walking and drinking more water, so I’m looking forward to checking back in 2 weeks.

Way to go everyone. Let’s stick with it!

Bobbi–thanks so much for the accountability.

Casey ChappellOctober 9, 2009 - 7:20 pm

lost 0.25. not much but a start. first week on the train.

Tara SOctober 9, 2009 - 7:11 pm

4.3% in the past 3 weeks! I think some of that was muscle loss from not going to the gym since I’ve been on vacation for the past 3 weeks.

Jill SOctober 9, 2009 - 6:59 pm

Down 2.2% had a bad week Booo!! lost gained lost I just won’t let the pattern continue next time!!! Good Job Everyone :D

CybilOctober 9, 2009 - 6:58 pm

4.10% in 3 weeks!!!! I didn’t lose any this week, but maintained which I’m thrilled with since I celebrated my birthday 2 times last week!! :-). AND my clothes are already fitting better!!!!! :-)

rychelleOctober 9, 2009 - 6:46 pm

down 2.1% ya-hooo!

AllieOctober 9, 2009 - 6:44 pm

Hey! I missed the boat on the healthy train (but I’m still following along). I just wanted to comment about the BodyBugg. I was listening to Jillian Michael’s podcast the other day, and she was talking about how the BodyBuggs work really well unless you’re doing an exercise that doesn’t move your upper body much. Since it works off of movement and not heart rate, it isn’t quite as accurate when you’re doing something like spinning or stairclimber where your arms don’t move as much. For running, walking, etc, though, you’re fine. Just wanted to pass the info along!

Cindy MillsOctober 9, 2009 - 6:36 pm

Down 1.04% in the last two weeks.
Down 2.06% since I got my bodybugg 5 weeks ago
ANNNNNND DOWN 5.94% since I started working out and dieting in January! I know that’s not much, but I got sidetracked by some weight gain due to a prescription, but my Dr. thinks we have it fixed. :)

The biggest loser is SO dramatic this season. I LOVE IT! I totally agree about seeing others working hard at the gym as motivation. That is just what I was thinking today….”if THAT girl can do this SO can I!”

amber leeOctober 9, 2009 - 6:35 pm

Dang…only 0.03%. rough week but tomorrow starts a new week to keep going! Way to go guys! Keep it up :)

MarisaOctober 9, 2009 - 6:23 pm

.8%…it doesn’t seem like much but man it feels awesome to me!

AmberOctober 9, 2009 - 6:20 pm

4.31% for me! I’m highly addicted to The Biggest Loser! Have been for 7 seasons now. Great show!

I have just been focusing on changing my eating habits. Now, I need to focus on my workout habits!

Congrats everyone! You all motivate me more than you will ever know!

Catlin HumesOctober 9, 2009 - 6:10 pm

1% for me. Was kind of hoping for more, but there is always the next weigh in.

Lisa RiceOctober 9, 2009 - 6:04 pm

I didn’t weigh myself until Monday, so down 1 percent in 4 days! Hopefully will have a much bigger # to report by next weigh in!

*sends hugs to her fellow healthy trainers*

LisaOctober 9, 2009 - 5:57 pm

Everyone keep up the good work!

kat brazOctober 9, 2009 - 5:49 pm

-1.5%

Amanda OvermyerOctober 9, 2009 - 5:46 pm

JessOctober 9, 2009 - 5:44 pm

.5% this week. I need to pick it up with the exercising. Good thing I’m running 10 miles in the morning tomorrow! :D

LauraOctober 9, 2009 - 5:41 pm

I lost 1.95%!!! WOO CHOO!!!

michelleOctober 9, 2009 - 5:31 pm

there is some major progress on the healthy train! 3.78% for me over 2 weeks, but it is slowing down :( i hope to kick it up a notch!

AbraOctober 9, 2009 - 5:31 pm

This has not been a good week. I lost then I gained back but fortunately that means I just evened out to the same weight I started out with this week.

To top it off, I am supposed to be going to the fair tomorrow. Just tell me how I am supposed to ignore the funnel cake that will be calling my name? :( Stupid “siren song”.

Amy SingletonOctober 9, 2009 - 5:31 pm

So far, I’ve lost 1.3 percent!! Yay for healthy train!!

AshleyOctober 9, 2009 - 5:30 pm

3.9% in 3 weeks. Pretty good but I haven’t really been working out. Going to join a gym next week. Sigh… Hopefully I can stick with it!

AngelaOctober 9, 2009 - 5:24 pm

4.08% in the last 3 weeks! YAY! The Biggest Loser is one motivating show, I am addicted! the bodybugg seems pretty awesome I have been using the app loseit! to count my calories and exercise. I feel like it doesn’t calculate calories quite right, since I don’t get compensation for pushing 2 kiddos up and down hills on my walks! It gives me a good estimate and keeps me accountable for everything going in my mouth, that is my biggest problem!

Steph S.October 9, 2009 - 5:18 pm

Great Job everybody!! =)

I lost a total of 3.03% since I began 2 weeks ago… can’t wait to see more results!

By the way, Biggest Loser is AMAZING this season… they share a lot of healthy tips that can help you with your diet/workouts too!

KatieOctober 9, 2009 - 5:16 pm

0.74. Last week it was better!!! I was sick ALL week and the only thing I did after work was sleep. Hopefully I can shake this virus soon! Have a good week everyone! :)

Jen WilczynskiOctober 9, 2009 - 5:14 pm

0.27% so far – not a whole lot yet, and I haven’t been so good with exercising this past week, but trying to get there!

leah staffordOctober 9, 2009 - 5:12 pm

Look at all those people! Yahoo! I lost 2.1%

CelineOctober 9, 2009 - 5:10 pm

1% for me since I started two weeks ago. Thanks so much for doing this! So motivating! :)

ohana photographersOctober 9, 2009 - 5:10 pm

:(….waaaahhhh

david b +0.4lbs

kimi b +0.6lbs

i think the pina colada and the pint of guinness didn’t help.

Alyssa LangOctober 9, 2009 - 5:10 pm

Hooray, I lost 1.74% :)

Actually was quiet pleasantly surprised when I stepped on the scale and saw that!

ElissaOctober 9, 2009 - 5:08 pm

I lost 1.04 percent. I hope to report more next time, too!!

kilaxOctober 9, 2009 - 4:52 pm

I lost 1.02 percent. Let me double check. Yeah. That’s right. I hope to report more next time!

I haven’t been watching the Biggest Loser, but it sounds really motivating. I should check it out on hulu.
