healthy train | week 6.

This week… -2.2 lbs. YEAHYEAHYEAH!  Total weight loss: -8.8, YEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHHHHH!!!!!!  My Christmas goal was to lose 16.6 lbs in 11 weeks… which is about 1.5 lbs a week.  WHICH MEANS… I'm RIGHT ON TARGET!!!!!!!!!!  I have 7.8 lbs left to lose in the next five weeks which is about 1.6 lbs a week.  That's TOTALLY doable!  GAH! I'm SO proud of myself!!!!!!!

Now… MOST of you guys have given me your Christmas goals… those of you haven't I've emailed personally (and many of you still haven't gotten back with me… DO IT!). So, I did a little math and came up with how much weight you've lost, what your Christmas goals were… and how much each of you have to lose a week for the next five weeks to hit your target. :D  It's very neat to see it all broken down like this to realize how attainable our goals really are.:)

AN UPDATE:  (as of 11.22 @ 2:45pm)

These people have weighed in for the week!!!!!:D

TOTAL weight loss for these 33 people: 183.8 lbs!

Next to your name is how much you should be losing each week for the next five weeks to hit your Christmas goal.:)Those of you with question marks never responded:(

So, I've been taking this opportunity on my blog for you guys to get to know me a little better and possibly explore within myself when the weight became a problem for me.  Today I'm going to tell you about something that was a  HUGE part of my life.

What might that be?  APPLEBEE'S!

April, 1999.  This was before I waited tables… I was a hostess. For my friends in KC… that's the Applebee's on Barry Road across from the movie theaters. HELLOOOOO BROWN HAIR!

I started there in September, 1997 and continued working there until January, 2004. That's highschool through 8 months after college (hey, I was job searching… don't hate).  It was soon after I quit that job when I really started putting on the pounds.  You might think that working in a restaraunt would be BADDDDDD for your health, but in reality… I was running around like a crazy person burning calories.  Then… I got a desk job and watched the pounds start piling on.  Ugh.

I genuinely LOVED that job so much!  I've worked at six different Applebee's locations in both Missouri and Indiana.

I'm guessing that these little stories I tell you are incredibly boring to you… but, again… it was such a big part of my life and quitting there was definitely part of the reason I started to really put on the pounds.

Bottom line: for you photographers/desk jobbers out there who are on this weight loss train with me… I think we all need to find something to do with our time when we're not editing photos and sitting on our butts to be MUCH more physically active.  Dontchya think? Let's brainstorm that one!!!

So tell me… how'd YOU do this week?! I cannot WAIT to hear!!!!!!!!

LOOOOOOVE

rebecca-linh rodgersNovember 29, 2008 - 3:38 pm

OMG. that’s photos is awesome. :)
uh-oh bobbi, it looks like you were not wearing enough pieces of flair! ;)

MarcieNovember 28, 2008 - 10:10 am

Erich has lost around 5 lbs. Update him this week. :) He looks GREAT!!

I am down NO more lbs. for now. :) And, Thanksgiving didn’t help me out any!! :) hahaha.

Faye SommerNovember 24, 2008 - 2:28 pm

Okay…sorry for not updating. It’s because I’m sad and am at week two of no pounds lost. But I’m really focusing on what I eat (or should say don’t eat) this week and will be exercising A LOT!!!!
I’m also hoping to be caught up so i can e-mail you any and all weight loss tips I have up my sleeve. :)

BreNovember 24, 2008 - 2:08 pm

no gain, or loss.
i quit on life :(
just kidding.
i’ll just work harder next week.
loves.

AllieNovember 24, 2008 - 10:31 am

Only .8 for me this week! Sorry that I’m late to respond!

JillNovember 24, 2008 - 9:38 am

I am on vacation till next Saturday and have no access to a scale. I planned for this week though which is why my Christmas goal is only 10 pounds! So count me in for 0 this week and next week I can tell you how much I’ve gained!

bobbi+November 24, 2008 - 12:00 am

Jen… EEEKS! SO sorry! I pride myself on spelling names correctly… after all, i’m a Bobbi with NO E! :)

I’ll fix it next time… promise!

:!:

JenFeickNovember 23, 2008 - 11:58 pm

WOOHOO! Lost 3.1!!! I can not believe it!

6.9 to go !!!!!

Jen

P.S.- Love ya Bobbi, but an easy mistake is the spelling of my last name! My best friends of 20 years even misplace the i and the e…the correct spelling is FEICK…not fieck…no harm, no foul! We totally are not an “I before E, except after C” type of family : )

JmANovember 23, 2008 - 10:14 pm

I’m here! I’m here! Sorry, I was on hiatus, but I check out your myspace updates so I used that to get my fix. ha!

Not looking to lose/gain any weight for the holidays here although I probably should think about it. Just NOT into diets and I exercise plenty but I understand…most anyone can stand to lose a few pounds. Good luck to you Bobbi and everyone else! :D

I used to work at Applebee’s a few years back as well…I have some funny stories from that place, ha! That pic is too cute, but I much prefere the red. :D

Sarah QNovember 23, 2008 - 8:43 pm

I lost 3 more pounds this week! WHOO HOO! I’m stoked!

bobbiNovember 23, 2008 - 8:32 pm

Hi Kristen “BAD ASS” Davis :) (For those of you out there wondering what makes her a badass… she’s my trainer… and she’s KICKED the heck out of mine :D

Anyway… it was just the lack of activity :) When you go from putting miles on your feet, carrying heavy plates of food, and burning a LOT of calories in one shift to… sitting on your rear end for HOURS upon hours… yet not changing the way you eat…. well, you know the rest :) I need to start waiting tables again just for the exercise! ;)

LOVE TO YOUUU!!!! Thanks SOOO much for reading the blog :) You’re such a great trainer!

~ :!:

Kristen "Bad Ass" DavisNovember 23, 2008 - 6:06 pm

Bobbi,
What about quitting applebee made you upset and put on the pounds? Was there a connection or something in your life that changed?
I miss you and am looking forward to Tuesday!
Love,
Kristen

AliciaNovember 23, 2008 - 1:43 pm

I don’t see my name on the list. I lost 1.5 this week.
thanks

Amy (Smith)November 23, 2008 - 1:05 pm

Congrats to everyone on the healthy train, I think it’s awesome. My friends and I have signed up to run the mini-marathon in May … which is kind of a bold move since none of us run, but we all needed major motivation to start exercising so are taking on this venture together. Plus we have 5 months to train so we’re hoping that by the time the race comes around we’ll be able to complete it!! There’s an idea for ya!!
And I love all the stories … I’m sure you were my waitress in T.H. Go State!!

Jennifer AdkinsNovember 22, 2008 - 2:54 pm

Okay I lost count so I’m just going to give my total weight loss so far.
I started at 128.8 and I’m down to 124.2 Woohoo! I’m happy!

Jill SNovember 22, 2008 - 2:42 pm

oh and p.s. YOu’re amazing for fitting this organizing into your schedule!! I can barely organize things for myself – Thanks for the motivation!!

Jill SNovember 22, 2008 - 1:59 pm

i lost 1 lb this week – i was kind of disappointed but – i’m thinking it has to do with some muscle mass – and then i think this week the lbs will drop again – i’ve been running at least 2.5 miles a day sometimes 5 – Trying to drop the weight and start training for 1/2 marathon in Nashville in April!!!

michelleNovember 22, 2008 - 1:21 pm

I work right next to that Applebee’s! Very small world!

ann pageNovember 22, 2008 - 11:58 am

Okay so nothing this week – but I did get some interval running in on the treadmill – so that has to be worth something. Thanks so much for breaking things down – you are awesome and speaking of awesome – way to go on your weightloss – I can hardly wait to see the next bobbi by the pillar picture!!!!! Enjoy thanksgiving – i am approaching it with a bit of eating anxiety!!!

andreaNovember 22, 2008 - 11:25 am

Congrats Bobbi on your 8.8 lbs lost! You look GREAT…even without a bra :)

baahh!

love you so much!

Anna McClaryNovember 22, 2008 - 10:59 am

I’m back to seeing some progess! I lost 4.1 lbs.! Since I couldn’t weigh in last week, that’s a two week total.

VaniaNovember 22, 2008 - 8:20 am

I lost one more pound!!! yay

NicoleNovember 22, 2008 - 1:00 am

I love reading your little stories…keep ‘em coming!

ClaryNovember 22, 2008 - 12:27 am

Go bobbi! I don’t know how you keep track of all this?! You are totally showing off your organization skills and I love your stories with the pictures:o)

amberNovember 21, 2008 - 11:18 pm

nothing again…just shoot me.

Susan SoloNovember 21, 2008 - 10:01 pm

Ah, that’s so cool that you worked at Applebee’s – I did too! I waited tables and was a bartender there for a few years in and after college. Fun times! It definitely did keep me burning a lot of calories, too. Did you hate the smell of riblets? (I did!) :D

Melissa DNovember 21, 2008 - 9:22 pm

I’m late! Whoops…I lost 1.5 this week :)

Elle MorrisNovember 21, 2008 - 7:53 pm

Well…i managed to loose again this week…only 1lb but its that time of the month and im sure all you other ladies know how hard it is to resist. Plus,a few yrs ago when i was trying to loose weight with weight watchers..i heard you weigh heavier at this time…not sure if its true..any1 know? Eitherway…1lb is better than no lbs..so woohoo!!!

Well done to everyone else who lost aswell

Elle x

Katy RegnierNovember 21, 2008 - 7:20 pm

I’d like to join!! I had my twins 2 months ago and this baby weight isn’t budging… I’ve got LOTS of weight to lose but how about starting with 10 by Christmas? All the running around changing diapers and feeding babies is my workout plan :)

amandaNovember 21, 2008 - 5:59 pm

Lost 1 pound! Slowly but surely!

CristaNovember 21, 2008 - 5:30 pm

CLARY, you DO not need to lose weight, silly girl. oh goodness.

Michael BlanchardNovember 21, 2008 - 5:18 pm

I love these tidbits from your past… Time for Mike now. Tell us about flying!!!

Paige GreenNovember 21, 2008 - 5:16 pm

hey, I added my name to the last post and I’m not on here! is it me? do i smell?

Leah MullettNovember 21, 2008 - 4:53 pm

I would love to join! I lost 1 pound this past week! :)

NessaNovember 21, 2008 - 4:37 pm

I am down 2 lbs this week!! WAHOO!!

I must say, I started doing Tae Bo a month ago, and have been going 4 times a week, which is what I think is really helping me. Because even if I don’t change my eating habits, at least I am changing my output so the calories go farther. Or something. Whatever, I am a happy camper! :)

Michelle RossNovember 21, 2008 - 4:20 pm

Okay! I am IN for the wight loss program!!!!

KyleNovember 21, 2008 - 4:12 pm

I’m down .2 kilos…aaaaaaaaand Google says,
.2 kilograms = 0.440924524 pounds

You know, not to be exact or anything.

I can’t believe you were skinny working as a waitress Bobbi! I was SO FAT. I ate the restaurant meals (pasta) every single day for lunch and dinner. No wonder I gained so much weight back then. I need to go on the Applebee’s waitress diet.

ChristaNovember 21, 2008 - 4:07 pm

Totally diggin’ all the ‘old’ photos :) Love you guys!!!

Kathy TNovember 21, 2008 - 4:06 pm

Congrats on your success, and thanks again for the motivation. I’m +1 for this week :( But I still managed to work out 3 times. Now if I can just quit the cookies…

Here’s to a better report next Friday!

BetsyNovember 21, 2008 - 4:05 pm

Woo Hoo Bobbiiiiii!

: D

Your cheerleader, Bets.

LauraNovember 21, 2008 - 3:53 pm

I’ve determined that if I want to lose the rest of the weight, I need to make some big changes. Apparently, the weight won’t fall off by sheer will power alone. In other words, I didn’t lose anything else. THANK YOU for calculating what we need to lose each week to make our goals. When I saw it that way, I thought, “I can really do this!!” And I will. I promise.

AprilNovember 21, 2008 - 3:53 pm

Congrats! You are doing awesome.

Gena SueNovember 21, 2008 - 3:51 pm

Bobbi- you are so talented, cute, spunky, and awesome! Just from reading your blog … I have been motivated! Thank you! I just had my second baby 6 weeks ago…and finally have been given the ok to exercise again! So….I’m jumping on your healthy train! I will weigh in next friday with my first loss. At this point in time..my Christmas goal is 5 lbs….and overall goal is 21 pounds! I’ll email you my “before” picture in just a bit (gotta wait for the hubby to come home & snap it!) Thanks for being so great! Good luck with your weight loss. xoxo

KaseyNovember 21, 2008 - 3:10 pm

Bobbi! I started WW one week before you and Ive officially lost 10 lbs! its so satisfying isnt it? I have a picture of a sexy blue dress above my computer that I ordered 1 size smaller than I am. The goal is to fit in it before new years! I think you and I are losing about the same speed. Im sure you’ll loose 10 lbs + by next week! good luck you sassy lady! so enjoy your work ;)

Katie BakerNovember 21, 2008 - 2:46 pm

I’m down 1.2 this week!!

Bobbi you are so awesome, I love that you figured out what people need to lose each week to reach their goal. It makes it so much easier to think of just small numbers instead of one big one! Thanks!!

marcia (marcia tumminaro photogrpahy)November 21, 2008 - 2:44 pm

Ok, I’m down 1 lb. which means 4 more to go until i reach my xmas goal. i think 1.2 lbs a week is a totally healthy/attainable goal!!

P.S. did i mention how awesome traineo.com is? cause it IS!!

Cathy and David PhotographersNovember 21, 2008 - 2:30 pm

That photo is AWESOME. Are you going to sell canvas prints of that? :-D

BrookeNovember 21, 2008 - 2:29 pm

ok, I just reread my comment…I meant that my “lean, mean…” comment was lame, not Bobbi. it’s obviously Friday and I’m losing it. wish it were lbs instead of my mind!

BrookeNovember 21, 2008 - 2:27 pm

I’m right with you Nicole…I ran like it was my job this week and still gained 1.2. boo. :-( I was bummed and haven’t eaten that well…but I’m chaning that right NOW. As I TYPE! Way to go everyone. You’re going to be one lean, mean photographing maching Bobbi! (lame? yes.)

Monica N.November 21, 2008 - 2:26 pm

lost 1 pound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael WachniakNovember 21, 2008 - 2:25 pm

Rock on guys! Keep up the hard work, you all are doing great!

As for something photographers can do for a little exercise… why not simply going for a walk? The hard thing for me when I’m not motivated for exercise is that I always think I have to do something vigorous like running or weightlifting in order to make a difference… a simple walk will do the trick! Heck, take your camera out and go on a photo-walk! When was the last time any of us actually shot for ourselves? (oh, and don’t go for a walk and then stop to get ice cream on the way back…thats sort of counter-productive lol… i found out the hard way)!

NicoleNovember 21, 2008 - 2:21 pm

I am so beyond bummed…I gained .2 pounds.

I don’t get it. I ran more than 17 miles, did light strength training, cruches, and have not been snacking like I used to this week. So needless to say, I feel very defeated, especially since I lost more weight when I wasn’t trying hard.

So I’ve only lost 3 pounds overall now. Sorry to drag down our total, guys, but great job to everyone else!

dianeNovember 21, 2008 - 2:19 pm

hi bobbi! you’re doing great, yay for great progress! i would like to join too. i haven’t weighed myself yet, but i’ll let you know next weigh-in how much i lost. thanks!

Blair Van BusselNovember 21, 2008 - 2:17 pm

Oh and I love the stories…not boring AT ALL! And I agree….we need to think of a plan to work it out doing something else other than sitting at a desk! Hummm….?

Blair Van BusselNovember 21, 2008 - 2:15 pm

Bobbi!!!! You go girl!!! See all that work totally paid off this week! An you are amazing for calculating all of goals till Christmas, and I could totally do .5 a week!!! Ive got to do it!!! Ummmm, yeah,so….as far as this week goes….I’m still at 8lbs lost. Sheesh….Maybe next week I will loose more than enough needed to make up for the last few weeks ive stayed the same? But 0 gained is good for me! Not great , but its alright, better than gaining!!

courtneyNovember 21, 2008 - 2:13 pm

2.2 POUNDS! Tha’ts GREAT !!!
Okay so I finally have a LOSS to report!!! :) WWWWOOOOHOOOO!!
Its not big, but its SOMETHING. Mark me down for 0.4 pounds please :) Its not the 1.5 that I need for the week but its better than the last 3 weeks have been (the big ZERO).
And I’m not sure what we can all do to stay active, especially during the cold weather season, but I think personally I’m going to try to take 15-20 minutes per day and walk around my neighborhood with my camera. I’m going to take a couple pictures everytime I’m out and about to help me get off my butt, and still try to turn those creativity wheels in my brain. You know, find the beauty in the unexpected. LOL

kilaxNovember 21, 2008 - 2:12 pm

Bobbi – you are doing so great! I am proud of you! :) You’re going to be one buff byotch. Ha ha ;)

I lost one pound this week. Let’s hope next week is better! (Even though it’s Thanksgiving! I’ll be away from my scale on Friday :( )

WattyNovember 21, 2008 - 2:08 pm

I think I lost a lb….down to 169. Must check your older blogs to make sure. (I’m geeeenius mode today)

Congrats on the 2.2! YOU ARE WORKIN IT GIRLY!!! Gonna need those clothes you have taken in or donated for smaller sizes soon! WOOT WOOT!!!

chris scottNovember 21, 2008 - 2:07 pm

- 7.2 pounds! So excited! Now please take me off of the naughty list =)

chris.

Alyssa LangNovember 21, 2008 - 2:05 pm

I only lost .4 pounds this week. :( BUT it’s once again that special time of the month so really, I’m excited I lost anything at all and didn’t gain any water weight.

And go you losing 2.2 pounds!! Proud of ya!

Jessica PNovember 21, 2008 - 2:04 pm

-5 lbs!!! Finally!!! I’m so excited i’m going to start really working out more.
I work at Ruby Tuesday part time so after i’m done running around like crazy I usually chow down on the White bean chicken chili soup (oh so good) and the salad bar. That is a huge help since I usually get done around 3 it fills me up so i only eat a light dinner.
