heather+brian

Heather and Brian got married on a remote island. The morning of their wedding, all of the ladies took a raft out to that island…. I have to admit it was a bit scary… but we were all feeling OH SO adventurous! I love this photo because it's the two mommas :D

….she sounded just like Joni Mitchell… and it was exactly what was needed to calm everyone's nerves.

Doesn't THAT look like the BEST place to be!? SIGN ME UP!!!!!

Do you see what I see?!

 CHEERS!

 HELLOOOOOOO NURSE!!!! ;)

:)

Meanwhile back with the guys…. :D

I'd call this efficient!

Brian LOVED taking photos with our cameras :) That's Brian on the left taking the photo on the right :D

He stood at this balcony and kept going over/memorizing his vows.

He reminds me of Gaston… you know, the hottie from Beauty and the Beast….

POOR BRIAN!!!!!! He's being beaten up by an infant!!!!!!

 so incredibly sweet. :)

I want to get married there!!!!!!!

"this ring has no beginning and no end…."

 KISS DE BRIDE!

You guys know we LOOOOOOOVE the recessional shot :D

Oh, I'm not mad that you're so damn sexy! My favorite :!:

THIS was the dessert!!!!! Brownie mountains :) YUM!!!

There were some FUNNY moments during those speeches!

 YAHOOOOOOOSKI!

:)

Brian, PLEASE remind us what song you're singing here….

Doesn't it look like he has backup singers?!

And nope nope nope…. an island wedding wouldn't be complete without FIRE DANCERS! ARE YOU KIDDDDDDDING ME?! FIRE DANCERS!??!!?!!!

LOOK HOW CLOSE THEY GOT!!!!!!! It was AMAAAAAAZING!!!!!!!

Mikey getting artsy fartsy with the flash :) Isn't it cool?!  It's Mikey's favorite :?:

PUERTA VALLARTA, MEXICO We would LOVE to specialize in destination weddings…. I shouldn't really have to explain why…. it's obvious, right!? Amazing weather, incredible people, beautiful colors, RIDICULOUS light and well…. it's not Indiana. :D Gosh we had a blast!!!!

We IMMEDIATELY felt like Heather and Brian were our best friends… as though we'd known them for YEARS!!!!!! The very first night we were there, we met up…. and STAYED up until like 2 in the morning (even though we were meeting for an engagement the next day at 6:30AM!) Brian and Mike are ESPECIALLY alike, too.  For example at one point throughout the weekend, I said to Brian, "you're so competitive, you just love to win!" He quickly corrected me… "no, Bobbi, I just love to be right!" For those of you who know Mikey you know that THAT IS SOOOOOO MIKE!!!!!!!!!  Anyway… not only did they let us into their inner circle within minutes… their families were incredible to us. :)   The second day we were there we were invited to dinner with the whole gang.  Are you kidding me?! Oh, and not to mention their amazing group of friends… Clearly Heather and Brian are the best of the best of the best… because EVERYONE that they're surrounded with are such phenomenal people!  We didn't at ALL feel like vendors… we were just old friends with fancy cameras. YEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAH!!!!!

Okay… wow… that was a long paragraph!!!!!

Anyway… their day was nothing short of perfect… These two ROCKED out at planning a wedding thousands of miles away… you would have thought that it was a local wedding because everything ran so smoothly! Also, big props to the on-site wedding coordinator :) She was ON TOP of things!!!!! :D The day started out with the bridesmaids 45 minute seal team excursion on the inflatable raft (see the first photo) FOLLOWED BY everyone getting massages…. and Heather relaxing in the hottub. :) Not a bad way to start your wedding if you ask me :D   The guys came over to the island later on a HUGE party boat…. needless to say, Brian was quite the entertainer on that boat :D Then of course… their ceremony… GAHHHH!!!! It was SOOOO perfect!!!!! Easily my favorite part of the day.  These two are just so genuine and in love…. their vows… OH their vows… GAHHHHH!!!!! I'm tearing up just thinking about it! :) Then of course… the tiki-torch lit reception complete with firedancers.  Seriously SO SO SO perfecto!!!!!

Thank you guys for flying us down to Mexico to share in such a perfect and unique day :D

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!

~bobbi+mike

See?  We told you it was coming soon!  Click here for their slide show.  The user name is Heather's maiden name, and the password is Brian's last name in all lower case.

Also, click here to view their entire gallery!  The event key is Brian's last name.

I remember Lauren (of openField) wearing a flower in her hair when she went to Hawaii for a destination wedding… So I thought it would be fun to wear one for ours! :D ANNNND… I'm SO thankful I did because it's the ONLY saving grace to the FRIZZZZTASTIC mop that's on my head!!!!! I'm not sure I could ever live in a humid climate because my hair just can't hang. HOWEVER…. aren't we all so cute?! PS. I'm wearing my Invisaligns in that shot, can you tell!? :)

Where's Waldo!?

As I was taking photos of the entire scene… THIS popped into the frame!!!!! I'm not mad :)

cat from nextexitFebruary 11, 2009 - 6:05 pm

Heather and Mike,
You both look so gorgeous and happy in love. It was so awesome seeing photos of your mom and dad, H. Hi guys!! And Natalie looked so beautiful! And Derek of course looked as handsome as ever with his beautiful family. Made me think of the old days watching Hot Dog the Movie with Court on your mom’s sofa circa 1984.
I’m so glad that you found such radtastic wedding photographers. Adi said that he regularly reads their blog and I am so adding them to my rss reader! They certainly captured your love and spirit. Hi Bobbi and Mike!
Anyways, love you guys. xoxo

heather and brianFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:20 pm

OMG!!!! Love love love the pics! Brian and I are so excited!!!! They are amazing! Oh and he sang Bust A Move! So fun – it’s a tradition with him and his boys from Virginia Tech! And the guys actually did do back up–also an evolving tradition!!!!

We are beyond excited – you both did the most beautifully perfect job capturing our wedding. It is simply perfect and we’re so thankful!

Bobbi – your fav is my fav :) Although I have to say the punching pic with Brian, the fists, and my little baby nephew Brendan is a close runner up…LOVE IT!!!!

LOVE your work but most of all I love the perspective and angles of every single picture. Quite a talent to make every shot it’s own! Love it and I’m a huge fan!

Just beautiful…I’ve been waiting for this post since you posted their engagement session…worth the wait :)

ClaryFebruary 10, 2009 - 6:00 pm

I’m thinking every wedding should have brownie mountains and hammocks and fire dancers! What a spectacular group of people who, as you said, surround themselves with phenomenal people…including b+m.

amandaFebruary 10, 2009 - 5:55 pm

Kayla of Spink StudioFebruary 10, 2009 - 1:01 pm

These are so great! Great job you two!

RichFebruary 10, 2009 - 12:56 pm

Holy COW! First of all, I think I already see that ring shot making it into your best of ‘09 list….and the off-camera flash photos are wicked!!! The two video lights rim-lighting the couple…just an awesome shot. That makes me want to go buy an iLight RIGHT NOW!!! Mike just killed it on that multi-flash dance shot….I love it when you guys get “arty” – I bet the couple loves that frame too….just awesome. I needed a great post to read like this today!

Tara SharmaFebruary 10, 2009 - 12:56 pm

Amazing. I love the fire dancing shots, and the couples’ portraits! Sooo colorful and great captures.

LaurenFebruary 10, 2009 - 11:16 am

As soon as I saw the ceremony site I KNEW it had to be Las Caletas! I love that place :D Did you get to meet Nicole the super planner? She’s amazing! :)

DavidLeeFebruary 10, 2009 - 11:14 am

I’ve been stalking your blog for some time now, and one things that I love that you guys do is show those shots where you guys are in the frame, it’s classic!! We all take these kind of shots at the event, but they never make it to the surface. I love how much fun you guys have with it. It’s inspirational!!

Mike that flash/artsy shot, my fav too, it’s insane!! Love it!!

DLee

bobbiFebruary 10, 2009 - 11:12 am

Morgan… you’ll love it! The only piece of advice I have for a destination wedding is to plan for the worst…. (our bag of flash equipment came a day late… luckily, we were there two days early JUST for that reason!)

Images with the 5D mark II:
1. mommas
2. hammock
3. the baby
4. guitar in the background
5. Heather on the bed looking out the window
6. the shot from behind of Heather with her dead
7. H&B at the alter with the guitar player
8. the ring exchange
9. recessional
10. reactions to the funny toasts
11. the brownie mountain
12. the double whammy of light dancing photo
13 both fire dancing photos. :)

So… that’s all of ‘em! I LOVE that camera for low-light work… undecided if it’s better than the 5D for other stuff :)

:!:

MorganFebruary 10, 2009 - 11:04 am

your flower looks lovely : )

julesFebruary 10, 2009 - 9:37 am

I went to PV once and it was the worst vacation ever, but wow! You guys make it look fantastic! What a beautiful and fun wedding! I love your blog, Bobbi. So so so much fun. Love the “scene” shot with Mikey in the shadowey foreground. :D

Lisette PriceFebruary 10, 2009 - 9:28 am

Every image from this wedding is fantastic! Wow I’m super jealous you two went to Puerta Vallarta. ;)

kirstenFebruary 10, 2009 - 9:09 am

Hey y’all! I have been following your blog for some time now but I think this might be only the second time I have ever posted a comment. I just HAD to because by the second photo I knew EXACTLY where you photographed. Las Caletas!!! I have shot there many, many times . . . . I used to live in Puerto Vallarta and so I made a lot of connection there. Actually, I shot 7 weddings there last season alone. I am very good friends with the planners, Nicole and Kelley! And Brad, the officiant, is great as well. I am going to be at WPPI if you want to talk. I can definitely start referring work to you if I am busy and I get A LOT of inquiries for PV weddings if you really want to include more of them in your season! I think your work is fantastic so it would be with the upmost confidence passing your name along.

-kirsten

Maya LaurentFebruary 10, 2009 - 9:04 am

What an awesome location!!! It looks to calming…perfect for a wedding! Love the one of the bride and groom laying down!

Bob RidgeFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:55 am

Oh, soooo fun! Too bad we were on opposite coasts that week – the craziness that could’ve ensued. The ring shot is genius, and the multi-exposure of them dancing really captures that moment (almost) as well as a video. ;) Glad you had a great adventure with such a fun couple!

MandyFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:45 am

I love the yummy details you guys always manage to capture. Truly beautiful. What a gorgeous wedding album this will make.

bobbiFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:31 am

Hey Danielle :) (Beyond the Lens)

Thanks for your OH SO kind words!!!!!

That first dancing shot (YAHOOOOSKI!) was taken with two 580EX’s off camera. (taken by the amazing Mike :D )

The second one (the black and white) was lit by a videographers light and I set my video light on a table to get the DOUBLE WHAMMY of light :)

Hope this helps!

LOVE!

:!:

GailFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:30 am

Ahhh..these are FANTASTIC guys!! Bobbi, your favorite is my favorite – that bed shot is HOT!!

As for your hair, if you’ve never seen it, you need to track down the Friends episode where the whole gang goes to the Bahamas and Monica’s hair ends up a frizz ball — it’s so great (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRN8-QejEHE) — corn rows may be the solution! :)

Beyond The LensFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:26 am

I heart the ceremony shots too! Amazing emotion in those (not to mention astonishing light) I am also all about the “Artsy fartsy” first dance shots. I gotta figure out how to do that! Awesome job you to. After looking at the images and reading the post I felt like I was there…and that’s the whole point of bloggin right!!:)

john waireFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:26 am

WOW…if only every wedding could be on a remote island. what an insane time this looks like. great coverage as always guys!

Melody CarpenterFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:25 am

Awesome, awesome!!! :)

Cat SparksFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:22 am

Stunning! You two are the bomb-diggity. Lovin’ the flower in the hair, Bobbi =)

WattyFebruary 10, 2009 - 8:20 am

sometimes I get so in love with these pics, I want to go get married again. (away from Indiana…anyone else you know LEAVE Vegas to get married in Indiana??)

Love the photos! Now I also have a craving for some chocolate (and with this new scale saying I weigh 4 lbs more than the cheap old one I’ve been using) I must take this as protein coffee form instead of brownie for :(

Great job B&M!
