The forecast called for rain… and it DID rain :) In the middle of the shoot we all had to sit in our cars while Mike checked out the radar to see when we could go back out. It went from being fun and bright to dreary and wet. Luckily, because of the forecasted rain Mikey and I bought these umbrellas to make the most of it. :) They ended up working PERFECTLY!

AUSTIN, Texas. WE LOVE THESE KIDS!!!!!!!! We don’t get to photograph many kids at this age, but we want to do it more. What great fun they are! SO full of personality, goofiness, fun, love, etc etc etc…

Madison reminds me SO much of me when I was her age.  She even kinda looks like me when I was that age.  Oh, and Madison’s FAR from shy, that’s for sure! She has no problem being the center of attention. She’s a drama queen, and I love that! :) She asked me if she’d be famous on our website… So Madison… will this work? :D Are you famous now?

Jackson, ironically… is JUST like Mike was at that age. He’s smart, sarcastic and sweet. About halfway through the session I mentioned that it might rain during the session. Jackson said, “Yeah, it might… but the strong weather is really supposed to be here tomorrow.” Mike’s eyes lit up! He found a friend who loves the weather just as much as he does! Mike busted out the laptop and pulled up the radar (we have one of those Sprint things so that we have the Internet wherever we are :) ). And there’s Mike and Jackson… checking out the radar. SO CUUUUUUTE!

We’ll DEFINITELY be back to Austin sometime next year… and we’ll DEFINITELY be making a trip to see them :) DUH!

Here’s an email from Alyssa (their dad’s girlfriend, who set up the whole session) and it really made me smile. :)

“I just wanted to let y’all know we all had a GREAT time on Friday afternoon. The kids still haven’t stopped talking about you guys! On the way home, Maddie said she wished y’all were coming to stay with us rather than a hotel! Jackson agreed. Ha! This morning I woke up to Maddie yelling ‘I’m hunting waaaabits!’ I think the two of you made quite an impression on them!”

We adore you guys. :)

LOVE TO YOU!!!!

What a way to start the day. I woke up to find an email from Jack & Maddie’s mom (love you Sandy!) with the link to these incredible photos. I’m just sitting here in awe! What beautiful children, and your skill in capturing their adorable personalities is second to none. I tried to pick a fav, but I can’t! Kudos to Alyssa for setting this whole thing up (love you girl!). How do I get copies?!

Aunt JennyFebruary 21, 2008 - 12:12 pm

I cried too. The B&W’s are all my favs. Thanks so much to Alyssa, Sandy, Bobbi, and Mike. Love, Jenny Gill

Y’all did a beautiful job! I can really see the kids’ personalities shine through in each photo. I really love the black&whites! It turned out that the rain didn’t really put a on damper afterall, as the bright umbrellas worked great! Sandy-your kiddos are adorable!!

Sandy DarwishFebruary 21, 2008 - 10:15 am

Bobbi & Mike,
I’m completely in tears with gratitude and happiness. I’m Jack & Maddie’s mom and I have to tell you how precious these moments are and you and Mike completely and full heartedly captured them. I can’t tell you how blessed I feel because Alyssa found such phenomenal people to capture these incredible beings from above. It’s taken me a good 10 minutes to wipe the tears before I could focus on telling you how much I appreciate and admire you two. You completely had Jack and Maddie eating out of your hands. You brought out the best of them and captured it forever. You turned a dreary day into a trip of fantastic energy and joy. The word energy is an understatement, but it was one of the best experiences and simply magical. Thanks so much for letting me share in it. Alyssa, you are an angel and I couldn’t wish for a more caring, beautiful person to be in their lives. Thank you just isn’t enough. You have a mother’s heart and a profound and deep gratitude.

God bless y’all,
Sandy

Oh Bobbi I love it!!!! I’m actually sitting here with tears in my eyes. The last two are what choked me up because these two will CHERISH these photos together. Sorry to get personal on your blog, but after losing my sister, I have a whole new renewed respect for how important it is to capture not just the kids themselves, but their interaction with their siblings. You nailed it!!!

Beautiful!!!

Jess (studio3z)February 19, 2008 - 8:09 am

This shoot was really great…I love the sibling interaction in these. All of your Austin shoots have been great!! How fun to travel!

my kids are my favorite subject. i am not very happy that they are growing so fast and one day i will no longer have them as my happy go lucky willing subjects.
kids are just so honest and real.

Eddie Bojorquez (Studio 512)February 19, 2008 - 3:37 am

HeidijotheartistFebruary 19, 2008 - 1:24 am

Awesome photos! I especially love the bright colored umbrellas. Great improv! They sure made for some great props and probably fun too! I’m going to have to borrow the umbrella idea for sure! If I had to pick a favorite….the one with the great kids…..one on each side with the umbrellas and the golden field, aka-photo #9!
