What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Kate  It isn’t really a moment, but dinner at the head table with our wedding party was really great. I don’t know if it will ever happen again that we will have all of our closest friends at one table like that.

Doug:  The cake cutting because we were so excited for it all night (because there were so many flavors to try) and then in the end the cake was too dense for us to cut and our wedding planner had to do it for us. It was really delicious though.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Kate:  Hire Bobbi and Mike! Also, Ben from Rewind was amazing and we loved our wedding video. And get a wedding planner. It is worth every penny.

Doug:  Make sure your vest fits before the wedding day. Also learn how to tie a windsor knot if you don’t already know, otherwise your videographer will have to tie it for you. Really, you could just hire Rewind Documentaries and then you won’t need to bother learning how to tie the tie.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Kate:  When Mike radioed and said that Doug was not wearing any socks before the first look. And then there was a back and forth between Bobbi, Ben, Ben’s assistant and Mike to confirm that Doug did, in fact, have socks. Also, when, for the video, Bobbi asked what part of the wedding I was most excited for and I said the beer (we got some amazing custom made craft beers for the wedding).

Doug:  When we couldn’t find they keys to the wine box during the ceremony.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Kate:  I would have had ordered breakfast to the hotel where we were getting ready. We tried to go out and get food, but everything was closed downtown because it was a saturday.

Doug:  I would have tried more cake flavors!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Napa for a couple of days and then later a full honeymoon to Costa Rica.

34_bobbimike_weddingphotographer_kdw14Hiiiii me!

Meet Amanda and Alex, a ridiculously sweet couple who love all things racing.:)

01_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerSee?! TOLD you they were serious race fans! Oh… and they also happen to be getting married on 5.24.;)

02_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerWhen our attempts at getting permission to shoot at the track failed, Alex pulled out the big guns and made arrangements with the powers that be at Indianapolis Motor Speedway… Alex works for ESPN and knew people who knew people… yet when we showed up we learned that Toyota had an impromptu event at the track that day so we had been bumped….to…. well….the visitor’s center parking lot and the immediate area.  Alex and Amanda handled it like champs and while al little frustrated, we all remained positive and made it work (said like Tim Gunn)!  Though…we did get a few odd looks . ;)
03_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerLOVE THIS ONE! Stay tuned until the end of this post where you’ll find a photo of me taking this image… PREPARE YOURSELVES TO HAVE YOUR MIND BLOWN!!!! <>    <- that symbol btw is a saracasteses, a symbol I invented earlier this year that I was hoping would take the Internet by storm…. it was supposed to be the start of my “punctuation revolution,” but alas, it’s turning out to be more of a “punctu-stay-the-same-lution.” Wommmmmp…

04_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerWhen life (or Toyota) hands you race track lemons… you make race track parking lot lemonade!

05_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerAfter being banished to parking lot purgetory, I remembered that we saw a “WELCOME RACE FANS” banner on our way to the track, so before we headed to the park, we made a quick pit stop. SEE WHAT I DID THERE?! A quick PIT stop?! Gosh I’m on FIRE here!

07_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerThe A is for AMANDA and ALEX! …..duhhhh….

06_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerThis was on the side of a barber shop.:)Those people of Speedway did not let us down with their passion for all things racing!

08_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerDid I mention that I adore this duo? Because I do.

09_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerThen we headed to a park.:)

10_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerYou two are so damn cute!

11_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerThe light was so pretty that evening. Mike’s favorite :?!

12_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerThese two are my favorites:!:

13_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerThis was when we were laughing about co-efficients. Yeahhhh… things that I never thought I’d be laughing about…

14_bobbimike_indianapolis_wedding_photographerYou two are just the best. Thanks for making the trek to Indy.:)

Oh man, dogs in shirts. Way to make my staying up far too late tonight totally worth it because of dogs in shirts. Besides that, holy cow, Amanda is GORGEOUS and Alex is so handsome! I love how good you are at rolling with the punches. Even if I didn’t know you didn’t get to go where you wanted, I would still have said this session was perfectly racing-themed. I had a hard time narrowing down favorites, but I think the barber shop window and the two giggly shots just below it top the list. Great job, guys! :D ReplyCancel

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Mandy:  Waking up early to get coffee and doughnuts with Scott- it was just us. And dancing with my Dad and watching every grown man in my family cry. Good stuff.

Scott: Seeing her come down the aisle. The sheer panic I had with only a couple minutes until the wedding and still trying to tie my bowtie!

Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Mandy:  Just relax. Enjoy every moment, and carve out time for you and your spouse to be alone for a bit.

Scott: You won’t have time for everything, so enjoy what you can.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Mandy:  There were SO many: any moment dancing! We had fantastic guests (and photographers) helping us destroy that dance floor! My older brothers skinny-dipping in the (almost frozen) lake, or having pie fights after the reception ended, or forgetting the rings in my room before the ceremony!

Scott: Probably forgetting the rings.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Mandy:  The only thing I would change would be hiring a videographer. We didn’t, and I regret it.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We spent one week in Australia and one week in New Zealand!

Told you it was cold!
18_BobbiMike_Wed_msw_14Hudler jumped up on Mandy after running through poop… he just happened to jump up on her chest… sooooo uhmmmmm…. yeahhhh… a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do… 19_BobbiMike_Wed_msw_14

Her dress is straight out of a fairy tale and that black and white of her putting it on is perfect. I love all of the fall color and the pops of purple against it. It’s hard to choose (isn’t it always?), but I think the black and white in front of the wood pile is my favorite. Great job, bbmk!ReplyCancel

  • MeganNovember 24, 2014 - 8:58 pm

What a fun and freezing (never would have guessed!) day! LOVE those first two detail shots (ohhh the purple!). That black and white of them with the logs & the beautiful little spot you two found by accident. Those are my favorites. And what a cool idea to have a caricature artist at the reception. Love this couple!ReplyCancel
