I’ve never seen a more detailed wedding… and that’s sayin’ something…. after all, we’ve shot over 300 weddings!  Side note: I’m sure that many of you have noticed that I don’t blog a lot of detail shots… I usually only blog 25-30 images from a wedding… our specialty is telling stories and that’s what we prefer to do with our 30-ish images. That being said, we DEFINITELY shoot plenty of them… you just don’t see too many of them here.:)

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Nikaela:  Walking into the ceremony was the most emotional, and seeing Nick and our family and friends standing in front of me was so humbling and unlike any feeling ever, simply amazing!  I also loved the serenity of our last dance, I couldn’t believe that it was all over and I will never forget the bliss I felt in those few minutes dancing with Nick.

Nicholas: The decision to not see Nikaela on our wedding day was highly debated leading up to the wedding. Now, I am so glad we didn’t see each other because the image of her in her wedding dress coming out of the field will stay with me for the rest of my life.

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Take your time in choosing who to surround yourself with on your wedding day. It makes all the difference and will allow you to relax and enjoy your Wedding day!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

We both loved the impromptu hoe-down during the Devil Went Down to Georgia. It was so much fun to watch everyone take their turn in the middle of the circle dancing to a song that was out of our dancing comfort zones:)

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Nikaela:  Our wedding day was amazing and I wish that it could have lasted forever but lighting the paper lanterns and worrying about everything catching on fire was a little more stressful than I would have liked.

Nicholas: Not a thing, except maybe the paper lanterns.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We were so lucky to be able to spend 10 days sailing around Italy and Greece along with a few days in both Florence and Rome. We had the best time together and neither of us wanted to come back to reality!

Mike is the best looking photographer I’ve ever seen in action. He also happens to be my husband. BONUS! bobbi+mikeLet me hear you say HEYYYYY…. 24_nikaelanick_bbmk

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Liz:  Walking down the aisle, seeing ALL of my most favorite people in the whole world in one place, and just being so blown away.  What an unreal and incredible experience!

Jack: Following Jewish tradition, Liz and I spent our first moments as a married couple in seclusion.  We stole away to a private balcony looking west towards the sun setting over the forest.  We ate some snacks, talked, and smiled and laughed a lot.  That 20 minutes when I had Liz all to myself was the most memorable moment for me.

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Liz:  Figure out how to clone yourself and be in all places at once!  I wished I could have gotten a chance to see everything and talk to everyone but it was so hard to pull myself away from the dance floor!  Yay for Zanna Doo!  Also, Bobbi, Mike, and Ben are the absolute dream team!  Invest in these amazing photographers and videographers and they will hands down make your day. They make the photography FUN and they do so much more- from bustling to hand delivering mashes potatoes, they really go above and beyond.

Jack: Learn it, practice it, preach it- surrender to the flow.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Too many!!!  Sporre (Groomsman) getting on stage with the band and singing Al Green “Let’s Stay Together” and Prince’s “Kiss”.  Uncle Jeff busting out his harmonica to jam with the band.  Jess and Abbie’s speech video- compilation of all “Happy” family videos as well as the surprise “Happy” dance time during the father-daughter dance.  The non-drinking, best man’s shot of “water” getting accidentally swapped for a shot of tequila 10 minutes before the ceremony. Everyone’s reaction to the Tie-Dyed cake!  We could keep going…

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Not a thing!!!!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Mini-moon in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and we are going on an RV road trip of Alaska in a couple months for our honeymoon!

I am INTENNNNNSE!28_lizjack_bbmk29_lizjack_bbmkI may be intense but those mommas be lovvvvvvin’ me!;)30_lizjack_bbmk

Ohhhhhh I’ve been SOOOOOOO exciiiiiiited to show you these images!  01_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeNick called me, wanted a session. But he wanted more than that. He wanted to propose. I emailed Rachel (who in the past had asked to be a workshop model). I’d emailed her a few times asking about it but our schedules never lined up. So, when he told me that he wanted to propose I knew the perfect head fake! I emailed, nonchalantly, “Hey, need models for a posing guide… are you free next Tuesday or Wednesday? If not, no biggie… I’m emailing a few people so get back to me as soon as you can.”  She emailed me back… and we started making plans. Meanwhile, Nick and I had been talking pretty regularly to try and brainstorm about how we were going to do this. 03_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeWe had to do it TOTALLY unlike we did Lanette and Cain’s… after all, Rachel reads my blog… she’d KNOW we were up to something! 04_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeSo we started the session as if it were any other session.  05_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeThis photo perrrrrfectly captures their relationship… in my OH SO humble opinion.:)06_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeSo while I shot a few photos… Mike checked ahead to see where the next photo spot would be…07_rn_indianapolis_bobbimike….but in reality…. he was tying an engagement ring to a tree branch.:)
08_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeI then set them up about 20 feet in front of the ring… facing forward… 09_rn_indianapolis_bobbimike….then I backed them into the tree “by accident.” OOPS! Oh wait… what is THAT?!
10_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeWELLLLLL RACHELLLL…. IT’S AN ENGAAAAAGEMENT RING!!!!11_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeTHIS IS REALLY HAPPENING?!
13_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeYES YES YES YES! Oh wait… did YOU know about this?!14_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeBEST. DAY. EVERRRR!!!!!15_rn_indianapolis_bobbimike…then we proceeded to shoot REAL engagement photos! You two are the sweetest.:)My favorite:!:02_rn_indianapolis_bobbimikeThen we switched up the location and  outfits. By the way, Rachel I just adore those freckles! Oh… and red hair?! YES! Last month we shot an intimate wedding with no wedding party and 50 guests. And it was the sweetest.:)

I love when a bride gets ready in a room with big windows!  The color and dimension works mucho better with natural light photography. Jussssst sayin’.:)

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Kelly:    If I had to narrow down to one, it would probably be my father’s toast.  He traveled a lot for work when I was in elementary school, and I collected trolls at that time.  (Embarrassing, I know!).  I would lend him a particular blue one whenever he went on a trip to serve as a reminder that I was always with him.  Since then, I had not though about or seen the troll in almost 20 years.  Towards the end of his speech, he pulled it out of his jacket.  That definitely tugged my heart!

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Kelly:  1) Make sure your photographers not only capture amazing pictures but also wear many hats during your wedding: comedian, meteorologist, timekeeper, bustle-extraordinaire, etc. Bobbi and Mike were lifesavers and really shaped our day for the better. Best wedding investment, hands down!   2) Don’t lose sleep over the details because 90% of them will go unnoticed and/or your guests will quickly forget after the wedding. What people will remember are the big moments, witnessing your love, and being around great company.

Mike:  Have a small wedding.  We thought we would have so much more time to talk to guests when there were only forty of them and that everything would run a lot more smoothly.  While the day turned out wonderful, we still felt rushed at times and wished we would have been able to spend more time speaking personally with each of our guests.  I can’t imagine how hectic it would have been if we had four hundred guests!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Kelly:   In the midst of our ceremony, there was brief whispering among our officiant, Mike, and me.  (Let’s just say we almost got her to talk about wuv…tru wuv!).

Mike:   Instead of the traditional wedding cake, we decided to have mini cupcakes.  While serving them to each other, Kelly gave me a hard time that I forgot to remove the liner from her cupcake.  However, she had yet to realize that she had not removed the liner from mine as well.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Kelly:  Wished we could have enjoyed our meal.  Our food lineup was awesome, and I barely had time to eat any of it! :(

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Jade Mountain in St. Lucia.  It was a trip of a lifetime and highly recommend going!!!

Testing the light with THAT hot tamale model. BOOM! SO FIIIIINE! On the right… Kelly’s dad and I discussing the family photos.:)
17_ricksboatyard_bobbimike_14Thanks for requesting a photo with us. You sure know how to make us feel loved! 18_ricksboatyard_bobbimike_14

Kelly and Mike…. thanks for treating us like family that day… you guys are the best!

Much love friends.
