Indianapolis, Ind.

Together  ::  2.24.12  •  Engaged  ::  4.22.14  •  Wedding  ::  4.11.15

Holly ::  Cytotechnologist  •  Hometown  ::  Noblesville, Ind.  •   five words  ::  Forgiving, intelluptous (intelligent plus voluptuous, of course), creative, caring, fiercly-cuddly

Tim  ::  Global Site Coordinator  •  Hometown  ::  Valparaiso, Ind  •   five words  ::  Passionate, talented, so-silly, handsome, home

How they met  ::  Holly would always see Tim socializing in the hallway at work, and thought he was the hottest guy ever, but was too shy to talk to him. Then one day, when Tim thought Holly was lookin’ fine in her scrubs, he introduced himself to her. They realized they had some close mutual friends in common, but had never met until now. Eventually, they started having lunch in the break room together and even went to a karaoke bar on their first real date, where Tim awesomely sang (and danced!) all of N’SYNC’s “Bye, bye, bye”. And they lived happily ever after.

……………………………

Some people are just naturally bendy… We learned that Tim was one of the chosen few… then Mike did the secret hand shake to communicate to Tim that he too was one in the bendy club. I tell you… these two should be BFFs.

  • RoryJune 26, 2014 - 11:56 am

This is positively disgusting! It is anti-God! It is Anti-Bible! Marriage is only between a man and a woman!!ReplyCancel

    • +mikeJune 26, 2014 - 1:52 pm

Rory, let me tell you what is disgusting.

Hatred and bigotry born out of unquestioning religious fundamentalism and a complete lack of consideration for one’s fellow humans is disgusting and the product of an insecure, intellectually lazy mind.

I find it pitiful and such a waste when the potential of the human mind and spirit is squandered by narrow-minded, narcissistic religious fundamentalists like yourself. You could be someone who works to make this world a more harmonious and fulfilling place for everyone.

Instead of engaging in dialogue with and understanding your fellow humans, you think your opinion is superior to billions of other people’s perspectives on life because you have some direct channel to God’s mind not available to the rest of us?

Even if you’re not openminded enough to reexamine your personal beliefs, you need to realize you live in the United States, not Uganda. Our constitution guarantees equal rights and protections to all citizens. You can’t deprive a citizen of the same rights you enjoy because of your religious opinions. That is the exact opposite of the morals our country’s founders stood for.

Unless you’re willing to open your mind, shut up and crawl back down into your deep, dark hole and let everyone else live in the sun.ReplyCancel

      • SydneyJune 26, 2014 - 5:26 pm

        Amen Mike! Well said.ReplyCancel

      • BrittJune 27, 2014 - 2:38 pm

Oh this makes me so sad :( On one hand I agree with Rory’s statement above, albeit without the intensity of the exclamation marks. So on the other hand, I can see why that may be interpreted as hateful and bigoted. I often think Christians can be misunderstood on this topic as being hateful (although there are some who may be filled with hate on this issue, I am sure, and I can’t speak for Rory one way or another), however it’s simply a matter of listening to the voice of authority in our lives, which is God. He is the one a person who follows Jesus listens to, not the country or the culture, because God’s words in the Bible outline what it means to live according to the way He knows is best, and His words have transcended millennia of ebbs and flows of countries and cultures. To agree with those who believe this lifestyle is equivalent to truth and love, and therefore they believe that should be the end of the discussion, is (for Christians) going against our voice of authority. You know how as a kid you listened to your parents because you knew they were looking out for you and wanted the best for you? This is what it means to be a Christian and to follow Jesus and His words-we follow Him. I’m sorry that it comes across as intentional hate – like I said the comments above made me so sad. As much as I wanted to refrain from writing this comment because I know how sensitive of a topic this is, I feel it had to be said. Thank you for reading.ReplyCancel

        • +mikeJune 28, 2014 - 2:09 pm

          Britt,

Like it or not, civil law (constitution in the US) does trump your religious practices when they infringe upon another’s equal right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Live and let live – that’s the agreement we keep in order to have a civil society.

You’re constitutionally obligated to let other citizens live under equal legal terms. You can support a legal framework for gay marriage while keeping your moral reservations if you choose – their happiness and equal rights in no way hinders your life.

No one’s imposed Sharia on you lately, have they? Has anyone banned pork in your supermarket or dogs from being pets? Made you wear a burqa?

Have you tried to pass any laws prohibiting others from working on your Sabbath? From taking your God’s name in vain? From eating a steak on Friday? Have you declined to legally recognize a Hindu or Buddhist marriage because you don’t believe in Vishnu or Budddha?

I imagine you answered “no” to all of the questions. So why oppose letting gay couples marry legally – we’re not asking you to allow it in your church? Why make a stand here?ReplyCancel

      • tasha delavergneJune 28, 2014 - 9:49 am

So well said Mike. There’s a dialogue to be had for sure for those who will open their minds and engage in one, but I am embarrassed and ashamed to be aligned with Christians who spew hate and bigotry. This isn’t just a religious or moral issue, it’s a civil rights issue akin to racism… I am ashamed we have to have this conversation, and our children and grandchildren will be absolutely appalled. Ugh. I’m so sick of apologizing for my ‘fellow Christians’. I refuse to align myself with those who would exclude and ostracize anyone. My church is open and affirming, our pastoral intern is gay, a large portion of our members are gay, the LGBTQ community are married in our church if they want a religious ceremony, we march in the pride parade. EVERYONE is not only allowed – we are all embraced. We aren’t all bad! I’m so sorry for posts like the previous one. I can’t wait to see your photos and am so proud to be one of your alumni!!ReplyCancel

      • CSKapperJuly 8, 2014 - 3:50 pm

Kudos to you Bobbi + Mike for having the boldness to speak up on this issue! Mike, I appreciate your well-informed and intelligent reply here. Just like the abhorrent religiously disguised racism of the past two centuries in America, this too will fade. Our government is a Constitutionally-based representative democracy and thankfully not a theocracy. There shouldn’t be any government interference between the love of consenting adults in our country. I applaud your stance!

Katie+Michael

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Katie:  When I started walking into the ceremony.  I was SO nervous to have such an emotional moment in front of a large crowd of people.  The way I walked down the aisle in our venue, I actually came in facing everyone and then walked behind them before I started to walk down the ‘official’ aisle, so I got to immediately see everyone’s beautiful, loving faces as soon as my mom and I started walking.  I realized right away that we were surrounded by everyone we love most, and they were just as excited for that moment as I was, and I immediately felt so loved and so happy.  It washed all my nerves away instantly!

Michael: When I saw Katie for the first time.  That, and breaking it down with Hoebo (groomsman) to Billie Jean.

 Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Find a way to slow time. Seriously. It was the best, most fun, most exciting, and fastest day of our lives. It’s all a blur, and I wish we’d been more diligent about trying to slow and savor the pace.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Several highlights, including Bruce (our dog) in a top hat, father of the groom crushing the dance floor, a number of photo booth props making their way onto the dance floor including the unicorn head atop Michael’s (normally very reserved) 15 year old sister, and the matron of honor calling out the maid of honor’s new boyfriend right after explaining in her toast that the Diggins sisters are VERY protective when new love interests come along.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Other than that whole slowing the physics of time thing, not one bit.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

San Francisco, Napa, and Hawaii:)

What a gorgeous and fun looking wedding! Great photography!ReplyCancel

Boy oh boy we REALLY hit the jackpot with the two families we photographed for the alumni workshop! I’ve always been SO nervous about photographing a family for a workshop because, let’s face it, kids are unpredictable. I finally felt comfortable doing it in front of a group of people who’ve already seen us work… that way if I bombed they’d know that it was a fluke.;)

017_Davis_bbmk_2014On the left is Ava… she’s the oldest. 02_bobbimike_dfw14

My favorite families to photograph all have three or more kids. Kind of weird coming from an only child right? (though I do have half siblings who are much younger than me and live in Washington state who I rarely see).  I’m convinced that big families are always so close. I see it at weddings too and am always so envious.

I’ve over-thought this theory and here’s what I’ve concluded: when there are three or more kids in one family at least two of them are sharing a room at any given time.  Thus, there’s no escaping your siblings… you’re stuck together… you’re forced to get along. I’m having a hard time explaining… but I think you get what I mean? For the record I’m not saying that families with zero, one or two kids aren’t close… it just seems more common amongst larger families.

Again, I’m an only child so this is all based on observation. Does anyone else have a better theory?

01_bobbimike_dfw14Knox and Annabelle. Knox, you are a bit of a show-stealer!;)Oh, and Annabelle thinks I’m “soooo precious!”;)She was my best friend that day.:DSo to Annabelle I say… YOU are sooo precious!:D
03_bobbimike_dfw14My thirty-year goggles are obsessed with this image. 04_bobbimike_dfw14Then we changed clothes and headed to a field. 05_bobbimike_dfw14AMANDA?! YOUUUU AAAARE GORGEOUS!!!!! Notice daddy and Ava’s profiles…. they’re identical.:)Our favorite:!:+:?:09_bobbimike_dfw14I won’t lie… we kiiiiinda knocked this session outta the park. Though really… have you seeeeen them?! The definition of beautiful… inside and out!08_bobbimike_dfw14Ava’s the only one in her whole family with blue eyes.
06_bobbimike_dfw14Knox, you are going to be a guaranteed heart-breaker. GUARANTEED!07_bobbimike_dfw14

First of all, seriously now with those names?! I love every single one of them. And the colors and poses for each of these images – spot on for every single one of them. You guys are so good! I think the one in front of the teal door and the one of all the family laying on the blanket are my favorites! Totally wish I would have been there to see this session in action!ReplyCancel

  • rachelJune 16, 2014 - 2:12 pm

These. Are. Amazing. LOVE family sessions with lots of kids!!! The ones of the two girls and the laying down shots – AMAAAAAZING!!! As a person from a family of 7 kids, and having 5 of my own, I think a big part of being so close is that the older ones see at least some of the younger ones growing up a bit. They go from helping with baby to seeing them learn how to walk, teaching them, and suddenly playing with them! So, so great!ReplyCancel

  • Melissa YocumJune 16, 2014 - 4:01 pm
