arielle+bob

When we pulled up to our photo spot and saw fog still lingering I was PUMMMMPED!  Fog goes away really quickly in the morning so we booked it out there.

LOVE this tree. Why aren’t there more cool trees in Indiana? Did we get skipped by the good tree giving angels? Do good tree giving angels even exist?

Mike’s favorite :?:

A quickie outfit and scenery change… and you get THIS hotness!

Here is where they had their first date. Indianapolis folks, can you guess where this is?

She insisted these shoes were comfortable… I still think she was lying.  I don’t think I could stand in shoes like that for more than five minutes!  Okay, maybe she’s not lying… maybe I’m just not very girly and am incapable of wearing shoes like these. And maybe I’m just jealous so I’ve CONVINCED myself that she’s lying. HOWEVER, aren’t they cute?!

Arielle, you’re gorgeous.

I will not tell a lie ;) …getting the real smiles out of Bob isn’t the easiest of tasks (which he admits), but when you get one… LOOK at how amazing it is! :D BTW, who was the shorty who took this photo?! GROW GIRL, GROW!!!!

OHHHH I LOOOVE THESE TWO!!!!!!

Okay, I was strangely obsessed with the shoes… don’t judge me.

My favorite :?: It’s perfect. I mean… if I do say so myself… :)

indianapolis, ind.

wedding: october 16, 2010 • indianapolis, ind.

together | may 28, 2008

engaged | october 3, 2009

arielle | emergency veterinarian • hometown | indianapolis, ind.

bob | race car engineer • hometown carmel, ind.

……………………………

Don’t they have the coolest jobs, ever?! Those are the answers you give when you’re 10 years old and someone asks you want to be when you grow up… “a race car engineer!” Then they pat you on the head and say… “it’s good to have dreams…” while they roll their eyes on the inside.

Much love you two! MUCH LOVE!!!!

~bobbi+mike :!: + :?:

I’m SURE that even on the worst of hair days… add a flower to it and you look like you tried. Well, that’s what I’m telling myself anyways! And as you can see, I coordinated my flower with her shirt… we talked about it the night before. ;)

Oh, wait… nevermind Indianapolis folks… you don’t need to guess where their first date was…. it seems that that guessing game isn’t very fun when I GIVE IT AWAY!

StephanieAugust 2, 2010 - 10:02 am

GORGEOUS.. as always… and for those of you wondering — I saw the beautiful teal dress she has on at Nordstrom (or one that looks exactly like it!). Out of my price range, but sooo beautiful!

jess anneJuly 31, 2010 - 5:01 pm

ok fog = fantastica I am soooooooo jealous of these photos!!! don’t see too much fog down here unless you count pollution as fog then yes we have plenty lol…

BradJuly 31, 2010 - 1:23 am

Dear Bobbi,
1) Shoot in the fog all the time. It’s gorgeous.
2) You and Mike look downright skinny in those last two shots.

Miss you both!

Cheers,
Brad

Heather ColeJuly 30, 2010 - 4:38 pm

she’s lying. lol.. i can’t wear that for 3 minutes!

LeaJuly 27, 2010 - 7:40 pm

I absolutely love your work! And I love that you post candid shots including the two of you! As I admire different photographers it seems to be a common theme to appear a little “too” professional and rarely let their personality be seen. Kudos!

bridgette {bd}photographyJuly 27, 2010 - 6:50 pm

omigoshthattree!!!! cool is not the word. i don’t even know the word {and words are sorta my thing!}
love you for being my happy place. the place i can always count on for THE most amazing images and sarcastic/hilarious first person writing.
hate you a little to teasing me with that image of baxbeaux’s! i live in cinci and have only had the pleasure of their pizza once in my life, but have craved it nearly every day since. {that’s 398 days of crave!}
i <3 bobbiandmike

CindyJuly 26, 2010 - 3:06 pm

I have stalked your blog for ages, but am now just commenting. You and Mike never cease to amaze me. You always make each session unique and amazing. Other photographers’ blogs get boring to look at after time because their shoots look the same, but never yours!! Thanks for sharing more great photos!

April FosterJuly 26, 2010 - 2:20 pm

michele dysonAugust 3, 2010 - 3:50 am

Congrats!

bobbiJuly 27, 2010 - 3:06 pm

Ashley, I’m guessing it’s a new bra. I only happen to know that because it’s a bra that I suggested and feel VERY strongly about… just by wearing it, you’ll lose ten pounds! :D http://www.onehanesplace.com/product/21455.html?cgnbr=3071000000 You can thank me later :)

KarissaJuly 27, 2010 - 3:02 pm

Bobbi, you look AAA—–MAZING! Congrats! You look just beautiful! Not that you weren’t adorable and beautiful before :)

Ashley JJuly 27, 2010 - 2:15 pm

Not to be a perv, but I’m wondering if Jessica is wearing the same bra in her before and after shots. As a mama of 4 babies I’m very curious ;) I’m really hoping it’s the same bra because that would give me tons of hope. I also noticed that Scott’s pecs are lifted as well. And I was so encouraged by Heather’s photos. Heather, you’re losing your belly! How awesome is that?! I want to lose my belly too. Bobbie, I could see a big difference in your latest before and after pics, too. I saw a big difference in your face and arms. Lookin’ pretty damn good!
EVERYONE is looking great! I’m encouraged.

BeckyJuly 27, 2010 - 12:31 pm

Wow way to go everyone! Keep up the good work!

I just yelled out “HOLY SH!T” Great job everyone!!! WOw. So proud of you guys!! I need to jump back on and get to work on losing the last bit of weight on me! My goal for this week is to lose 2 lbs.

Alison DJuly 26, 2010 - 8:29 am

You guys are amazing! Great job! I didn’t have a chance to get my mid way pics in, but I am on track again and just passed 50 pounds total gone since the start of healthy train #1! Those of you who are saying “I need to” Change that statement to “I am going to”. It makes all of the difference in how you attack this. Angie is right on about not letting one bad day or one bad week derail everything! Oh and bobbi? Looking mighty hot- we may just see those legs yet!:) Thank you for all that you do!

Tracy WallaceJuly 25, 2010 - 9:55 pm

You guys are such wonderful inspiration. Thank you! :) and Keep up the good work. So proud of all of you :)

Jill PJuly 25, 2010 - 9:11 pm

Bobbi, you look great. I love your hair. You went from short to long hair and I think I am going to cut all my long hair off! I’ve always kind of thought my hair “hid” how large I was and now my face is thinner so I think a change in hairstyles is needed for me! :)

I love that you are doing this. It is so helpful to have all the inspiration. You rock!!

MombaJuly 25, 2010 - 8:55 am

WOWWEEEEEEEE…………………… Bobbi you are so HOT. I love you for your strength and willpower. You are truly the “BOMBA”. I know how hard you have worked for the awesome results you have made. I am starting my “Health Train” serious on Monday. That would be after the Brickyard Race, today.

Love you bunches

WOW seeing the differences is so great! Congrats to all :) Also, I admire and appreciate your bravery…thank you! Bobbi…bomb.com as always!!!

Michelle HunleyJuly 23, 2010 - 11:12 pm

Andrea- I was JUST going to say something about Bobbi’s booty looking lovely and then I saw your post. hahaha
Bobbi- You look so much younger in your after pictures. I can really see your loss so I don’t know what happened with the first pictures you took but you look great! I can really see it in your arms, too!

Angie LivesayJuly 23, 2010 - 10:50 pm

This was HUGELY motivational for me! If anyone hasn’t taken photos, DO IT, RIGHT NOW. I know that I’ve lost weight, but sometimes I feel like it’s all still with me- this was a great visual to show me that it’s really gone. Way to go everyone!

I have been terrible about the commenting- I’ll be trying to do better in that area- but here are some of the things that have helped me along the way…

1) Drinking water out of the fancy-pants bottle that you have to bite for it to open (aka, kind of an adult sippy cup) Bobbi has mentioned them and I AM A FAN!

2) Adding exercise to my life and eating things that are good for me. Who knew that would work, really? :)

3) Getting rid of my “all or nothing” attitude. So many diets/weight loss plans/exercise regimes have failed because I slipped once and thought it was a lost cause and therefore just gave up. I’m proud to say I’m not there anymore. I know that if I eat something that really isn’t good for me (and I will…probably at least weekly…), that doesn’t give me the right to give up on myself. I don’t beat myself up over french fries anymore…

4) Repeating the phrase “not an option,” in my head, A LOT. Especially at first. When I didn’t want to work out because it hurt, I was hot, I was bored, I just kept telling myself that being unhealthy was not going to be an option for me. This has also worked well with dieting. It’s permanently embedded in my mind!

So there’s a lot of info from me to make up for all the other posts I’ve failed to comment on.

Again, GREAT WORK, EVERYONE!

Angie Livesay

AndreaJuly 23, 2010 - 9:56 pm

Mich- I mad that your before pic looks like a prison photo- you are officially the HOTNESS! Bobbi Jo- It be inappropriate for me to comment on how fabulous your ass looks, so I’ll keep it a little more PG and just say your hair looks frickin’ hot- GO TEAM!

Marta VJuly 23, 2010 - 9:24 pm

You all look totally amazing!! Bobbi, OH MY GOODNESS! You look great! Scott, Jill AH-MAZING! I have been offline for the last few weeks but I am still chug chugging away. It may be too late for the post but I am going to take some pics this weekend. See you all around! <3

RhondaJuly 23, 2010 - 9:19 pm

I didn’t even bother with the progress pic because there is no difference! UGH. Good news is, these changes have totally inspired me. Right after seeing these, i poured my glass of coke down the drain (i know, coke abuse) and got out a bottled water. I then marked a DIY project off my evening to-do list and replaced it with a workout!

JessJuly 23, 2010 - 8:49 pm

First and foremost… I LOVE Bon Jovi! Bobbi~ Your face in 2008 doesn’t look happy :( The change in your face alone is incredible!! I can’t wait to see the final pictures! Healthy train is rocking it. Thanks for letting me be a part of this incredible journey. PS- Anonymous is lame.

laura+chad

NEVER in my life have I seen a dress SO difficult to put on. SERIOUSLY!!??! I’m still mad at the dress manufacturer! It’s a tight slinky dress WITHOUT a zipper that you slide on over the top of your head and wiggle into. That’s hard enough when your hair and makeup weren’t just done to perfection. HOWEVER, it did make for some fantastically hilarious photos :)

I love me a wacky bride who wears non-white shoes!

While Laura was slinkying her way into a zipperless dress… Chad was doing this…

and this :D

They did a first sight where they exchanged gifts. Laura wrote something that I’m sure was perfect in every way while Chad gave Laura a necklace that she’s been coveting. :) She said, “I love that you pay attention to me and knew that I wanted this… it means the world” or something like that…

It was a VERY hot June day and we didn’t think it was a great idea to sweat all of the hair and makeup off. So, we stayed inside and shot a few portraits in her parents AWESOME home.

Laura, you have an awesome smile.

Love everything about this.

Laura’s mom is a part of a singing group called the “King’s Daughters”.  These women haven’t sang together in many many MANY years… but, for Laura and Chad’s wedding… they reunited. I get chills thinking about it. Their singing is incredible. I mean, INCREDIBLE! I felt like I was on the set of “O Brother Where Art Thou” listening to Allison Krauss singing “Down to the River to Pray” GOOOOSEBUMP CENTRAL!!!!

I love this guy. Don’t you want to be his friend and listen to his stories? I do. :)

Back in May a groomsman accused me of “not being creative” because all I do is “line people up at the altar and never do anything cool”. When I mentioned this on twitter/facebook someone sarcastically suggested that I try the “ring of flowers around the brides face” photo… as that’s the DEFINITION of creative! :D When I asked her to do it for the sake of my own amusement… THIS …was the face she made. How’s THIS for creative Mr. Groomsman?! Thanks for being such a great sport Laura… :)

Gorgeous smiles & bokeh… what more do I need?!

For me, this photo is perfection. Laura and Chad… canvas… above your bed… k? It’s my favorite :!:

They did a fake out move with their first dance. When the song first started it was “The Growing Pains” theme song… they boogied. :D It then switched to something more expected… they danced and I took this ;)

The bouquet only made it 4 feet… as in… it didn’t reach the bridesmaids.  It was funny :) HOWEVER, when this little lady picked it up… here was her reaction. best.bouquet.reaction… EVER!

Mike’s favorite :?:

laura+chad:

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
laura: hardest question EVER. Acting like a kid on Christmas morning while waiting for Bobbi and Mike to arrive. Seeing the FJ in the driveway and running out to greet Bobbi.  Getting ready with my mom, aunt Marty, Kiralee and Bobbi.  Meeting Chad in the library. Chad’s gift to me (A Lisa Leonard necklace!!!) Kelley coming downstairs before the ceremony.  Artie being the ring bearer.  Seeing Chad at the end of the aisle.  Putting the band on Chad’s finger (I got him!). Getting fun pictures taken around my parent’s house. My dad handing out cool rags to the hot guests…such a wonderful example of his character.  Seeing all of the people who braved the heat to share our day with us.  My mom and dad’s speech.  My matron of honor’s speech. My matron of honor’s awesomeness.  My mom’s beauty.  My brothers.  My bridesmaids. My Chad.
chad: Going into the wedding, I knew that the experience of seeing Laura walk down the aisle would be powerful. But I was shocked by the authentic and overwhelming feelings that moved me to tears. I had to focus on holding myself together because I was overcome with such intense and surreal emotion.  The processional song was particularly moving as I heard it in the context of that moment and I felt like I was hearing it again for the first time.

What was your favorite detail?
Photo stamps from Zazzle.com for our invitations. The pearl pins in my hair. My shoes and purse dyed to match the flower in my dress. The guest favors that Chad and I made together. Bobbi and Mike engagement pictures scattered in frames throughout the reception.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
The immediate obedience of Artie when Joetta was handling him.  The pathetic bouquet toss that traveled about four feet. Rachel crying down the aisle.  The awkwardness of the cake cutting, which we had completely forgotten to plan for.  The physical awkwardness during our first dance – how can you really dance to a TV theme song?  Rachel screaming at the guests waiting outside the church that “NOTHING IS HAPPENING HERE!”

Any advice for future brides/grooms?
laura: Stay organized. Hire a wedding coordinator. Marry someone like Chad. Don’t underestimate the power of Spanx. Say “thank you” a million times to all of the people who put so much time, effort and money into your event. Don’t obsess about small things – it’s not about the program font, it’s about the marriage. (Unless it’s Comic Sans, in which case you need to reconsider) Stay in the moment as much as possible. Hire Bobbi and Mike. Don’t obsess about how your wedding day  “should be.” Let it be what it is, and accept anything that happens as the experience you were meant to have.  If it rains, buy a cute umbrella. If you break your arm, make a cute picture on the cast. See the humor in the unexpected.
chad: If you’re getting married in the Midwest, plan for an early spring or fall wedding when the weather is cooler. Frequently contact vendors to make sure they are still in business. (Our first florist closed two weeks before the wedding without telling us!)

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Plan for more time with guests at the reception!

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
laura: Bobbi and Mike, Kiralee and my dress- God bless Claire Pettibone, I love that dress with everything in me.
chad: The bridal party gifts- personalized M&M’s with their faces on them.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We stayed at the Stonecliffe Inn on Mackinac Island. It was AMAZING. Highly recommended.

What was your favorite thing about bobbi+mike? (for the record, they added this question, not me!)
Bobbi and Mike were integral to the enjoyment and experience of the whole day.  We felt totally comfortable with them, we knew that they had everything under control, and they organized people with amazing skill.  They aren’t just capturing the day through photography, they are part of the day with their energy, love, and general awesomeness. Wow Laura… I don’t even know what to say now. I’m blown away by this. thank you thank you thank you. :)

bobbi+mike:

our favorites: 1) when Laura came running at us at FULL SPEED through the driveway carrying the above canvas over her head when we first arrived. 2) seeing Kiralee. Oh how I adore her. I said to her… “I think it’s time for “Operation Grow Back Eyebrows” to come to a conclusion” to which she responded, “Uhm… yeah… it’s time…” Maybe you had to be there, it was hilarious to me. 3) Seeing Laura’s excitement for all things wedding. 4) Laura slinkying her way into her dress… messing up her hair, makeup… and all while laughing at herself.  Not to worry… team bride to the rescue :) 5) Their first site. 6) The King’s Daughters singing during the ceremony. 7) the receiving line (usually it’s my least favorite part of the day to photograph… but Laura and Chad’s guests were just so animated and cute… I was having a blast!) 8) The shuttle drive from the  church to the Stoller home… these bridesmads make me laugh. :) 9) The first dance was ridiculously sweet… and seeing the bridesmaids watch with tears in their eyes. 10) the bouquet toss was HILARIOUS! 11) the emotion contest with Laura. (more on that soon) 12) reading the answers to the blog questionnaire (above) and finally 13) playing “bobbi trivia” with Angie who said she was the biggest fan ever. I’ll go ahead and confirm… she is :D Angie made me feel like a million buckarooobies.  I named her the president of the bb+mk fan club. I mean… if there were one. :) There she is… on the right :D

MUCH love friends… MUUUUCHHH LOVE!!!!!

~bobbi+mike

Sometimes while I’m taking photos… I pose too. It’s weird.

OH HOW DAPPER!

pay no mind to the photographer in the corner… she’s blending….

HA!Maybe some of you remember the “emotion contest” I had in May at Ellen and Brian’s wedding. WELLLL… I knew that Laura would be goooood competition for me. SO, I challenged her. Here’s how it went down. 1) angry. 2) overly joyed. 3) sad. 4) constipated. Now, when I look at these… I think I won. HOWEVER, the bridesmaids said that she won. I think it was just because she was the bride. Bride schmide… a contest is a contest!!!! SO… tell us blog readers, WHO WON?!

:!: + :?:

NicoleAugust 8, 2010 - 6:36 pm

Xanthe Roxburgh PhotographyJuly 22, 2010 - 1:21 am

So gorgeous, as usual. It’s hard to choose between the face pulling….but Bobbi, I think you got it.

ClaryJuly 22, 2010 - 12:56 am

Mike!! You are one hot guy in that grey suit! and your favorite is also mine.

Wow, does that sound like I have a crush or what?

Bobbi-I love you too!

michelleJuly 21, 2010 - 10:39 pm

Everytime I come here as I’m scrolling through the post I go to myself “Ooh, that’s my favorite shot… that’s the one I’m going to comment about.” And then I say that again about 4 times so that by the end I can’t name ALL my favs. VERY FRUSTRATING. ;)

BUT… that dog makes me laugh. The field shot where she’s sort of bending back… GORGEOUS, the emotion contest: priceless and more and the same and such. ;)

April FosterJuly 21, 2010 - 7:07 pm

That last photo – the one with the bride and groom on the bike is EPIC!
P.S. You are looking SUPER skinny

H&K HebertJuly 21, 2010 - 7:02 pm

What a rockin’ couple! Loved Laura’s dress…. Also, when I read about the groomsman that said you “only line people up and don’t do anything cool” – RAGE ROSE WITHIN ME! Haha. But seriously, what a dork. Just LOOK at your amazing work. OPEN YER EYES DUDE!

KatieJuly 21, 2010 - 6:48 pm

Hooray! So fun to see another Richmond wedding! :) Laura, you look gorgeous, and everyone looks so happy! I LOVE the 3 in a row after the necklace. Congrats Laura+Chad!

Looking forward to bb+mk’s 3rd appearance in Richmond…SO SOON! :)

PS: I sang “So are you to me” at a good friend’s wedding a few years ago – it’s so beautiful!

lauraJuly 21, 2010 - 6:24 pm

So many great words to describe this couple and your photos, I can’t even begin to list them all!! Just so you know, I am totally saving up my moneys to have you at my (someday) wedding in teeny-tiny town, South Dakota. Get ready.

Amanda SchultzJuly 21, 2010 - 6:18 pm

You guys seriously always crack me up and make me smile and then the next minute blow me away with your gorgeous photos… I always look forward to seeing your next ’story’…

Lindsey JoyJuly 21, 2010 - 5:32 pm

I love how bright and happy this daytime wedding is!! Even with inside photos, gorgeous!! I’ve said it before, but you and Mike look AMAZING in your new suits!! :) :)

Oh, and you totally won… way more comedic! :D

JuliaJuly 21, 2010 - 3:49 pm

Seriously, you guys had better still be doing this in another 10 to 15 years, so I can have you at my daughter’s weddings! (they’re only 10 and 13, so it’s just titch too soon right now)

jess@studio3zJuly 21, 2010 - 3:40 pm

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! I love everything about this post.

ChantelJuly 21, 2010 - 2:55 pm

I say Bobbi takes angry and constipated while Laura gets the vote for overjoyed and sad. You guys (B+M) rock.

MelanieJuly 21, 2010 - 2:40 pm

Incredible, as usual (do you ever get tired of hearing the barrage of compliments?!)

As for the “emotion contest”, I think three out of four of them are relatively equal, but your angry TAKES. THE. CAKE!

Stephanie StewartJuly 21, 2010 - 2:32 pm

Woo hoo for Richmond! (Fellow native here!) What a GORGEOUS couple, I cannot choose a favorite, just too difficult. I love how her shoes were a perfect match to the flower on her dress. And I say it’s a tie on the emotion contest, both of you are very expressive and original!

Amanda WilcherJuly 21, 2010 - 2:08 pm

Wooohoo! I adore the expressions contests.

Annnndddd…a piece of my heart was stolen with the canvas above the bed photo!!! I kinda looove it.

TrishaJuly 21, 2010 - 1:55 pm

Bobbi… you TOTALLY won that contest! Great job as always :)

DavidJuly 21, 2010 - 1:38 pm

Madly in love with that close up smile shot up there. Shows her feelings so much. :) Don’t know why I find it so gosh darned touching. ^_^

LauraJuly 21, 2010 - 1:32 pm

These make my heart so deeply happy. Bobbi, you won the emotion contest. But I won the best-photographer-in-the-world-for-my-wedding contest.

MaryJuly 21, 2010 - 1:30 pm

Sorry to the bride….you absolutely win the emotion contest. Not only with the facial expressions, your whole body was involved!

JennyJuly 21, 2010 - 1:21 pm

LMAO @ “emotional contest”. Your faces are KILLER! So freakin’ funny! Thanks for making my day! Beautiful pics like always. I’m wondering, could you start blogging daily from now on please?

Heather ColeJuly 21, 2010 - 1:17 pm

I would come running full sprint outside if I saw the FJ show up at my wedding too!! I love love love – these pictures. It was so hard to choose my favorite. Maybe the really creative one with the flowers around her head. Great job BBMK you have officially made me want to get married all over again – OH Yeah – it’s my anniversary so that would work out great. Be here around 6???? Ha ha

As for the emotion contest – I’ll have to say you Bobbi. Even though she was pretty dang good.

Jill SJuly 21, 2010 - 12:41 pm

HAHAHAHA ok so I was starting to get a little teary-eyed while, yes, I immediately started listening to ‘down the river’ at the mention of it..then continued scrolling through the pictures..and came to the one in field (also your favorite) really sweet picture – FANTASTIC lighting to match the emotion! (if that makes sense) but then my sensitive side was overtaken by laughter when I came to the “emotion contest”!! Laura did really well – but you’re like a cartoon! haha In a good way of course! You’re angry face i feel like you need a pipe sticking out of your mouth and a can of spinach in hand! tooo funny!

AmyPunky PhotographyJuly 21, 2010 - 12:36 pm

Oh they make such a beautiful couple!! And I loooove her dress!!!!

JessicaJuly 21, 2010 - 12:35 pm

Haha. Love the comic sans note. Beautiful images, as always!
I’m being totally objective, and I have to say that you won, Bobbi!

KimJuly 21, 2010 - 12:20 pm

LOVEEEEE these!!!! They are a gorgeous couple and well… Bobbi…. You are just awesome. You could be one of the Peanut gang with those expressions!

KailaJuly 21, 2010 - 12:11 pm

I Love this wedding! The colors are so elegant and classy! Beautiful! My favorite is your favorite! I also love the bw great smiling photo :)

gailJuly 21, 2010 - 12:10 pm

Oh you two are just SO fabulous! I love her shoes. I love the tent at their reception. I wish my reception had had a tent.

I LOVE how funny she is. As for who’s funnier with faces, I’m gonna have to say a toss-up. You BOTH are uber-expressive!

PS – Mike looks fab in his grey suit :)

christineJuly 21, 2010 - 12:00 pm

Laura’s makeup was *amazing* – so beautiful. Incredible, fantastic, fun shots, as always Bobbi+Mike :)

Remember Jess and Brad? of COURSE you remember them… You know… the engagement session taken in a strip mall parking lot in pouring rain with tornado sirens going off in the background?! SEEE! Told you you’d remember them!

Amanda, one of Jess’s best friends is an INCREDIBLE makeup artist. :)

I will not tell a lie… this salon and spa was unlike any other experience ever. Annnnd… by that I don’t mean it was amazing. When I walked in they told me that I was not able to take any photos in the main salon as I would make the other guests uncomfortable.  There was ONE area (about a 20′ x 15′ small room where they applied makeup… in shiz light, mind you) I was allowed to shoot. And after snapping just 2 photos… the makeup artist weirded out and said that I made her nervous and that I couldn’t take photos. So… I had to sit in a tiny room with my camera and two flower girls who were also not allowed out because they were a “disturbance.” They weren’t even allowed to go to the BATHROOM there… they had to go down the elevator to the hotel lobby if they needed to go. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Let me say… these flower girls are like 7 years old and VERY well behaved.  So, Jess, who is THE most laid back bride EVER really didn’t let any of this bother her. Me, I would have been flipping my poopy. She’d say, “I have no control over it… so, it is what it is.” She  kept referring to me as “my photographer… who is in timeout”. HA! I’m telling you… UNLIKE ANY other experience. This salon is not on my referral list ;) K? k. Now that I’ve said my peace…. MOVING ON!

However, when it was time for Jess’ hair… we made it happen. Don’t mess with us! :)

Meanwhile…

WOW to this adorableness!!!!!

Jess had lost a serious amount of weight between buying the dress and her final fitting… and at that point, the weight was still dropping fast.  They told her that “the dress will NOT fit you if you don’t quit losing weight.” WHEN DOES THAT EVER HAPPEN?! High fives Jess… HIGH FIVES! She said she’d been eating ice cream all week so that her dress would fit!  Yeah, that’s a first! :D HEALTHY TRAIN CHOOOO CHOOOOOOO!

are you KIDDING me with the amazingness that are these shoes?! Though they’re BEAUTIFUL I guess they weren’t the most comfortable. Jess called them “the Choos that didn’t love me back” :D I won’t lie…. REALLY proud of these photos :D

That’s a WHOLELOTTA BLINNNNG!

love this. it’s Mikey’s favorite :?:

PERFECT capture Mike! :D Such a great story telling image. You win.

:D

Marriage is the coolest. :)

While I’m on full disclosure mode here… Here’s a little story :D We were supposed to do the bridesmaids/groomsmen photos ahead of time… but because the florist wouldn’t drop off the flowers until an hour before the ceremony started we were way limited (gotta get the bride inside before the guests arrive… and you KNOW they like to be WAY early!) Well, things ran behind and we had to do all of the photos afterward. No biggie. THEN… the bus driver was supposed to head back to the hotel to shuttle the groom/groomsmen to the church… well, SOMEHOW… he didn’t get the memo and the bus was just SITTING out in front of the church after dropping off the bride/ bridesmaids. When someone noticed that WE WERE MISSING THE GROOM the bus driver got in gear and get in gear QUICKLY! So, the ceremony started/ended laaaaaate.

What does that mean? That means that we were now in HIGH SPEED MODE. As in… I had twenty minutes to get ALLLLL of the photos taken (bridesmaids, groomsmen, full wedding party AND bride & groom). We were originally planning on going to downtown Valparaiso for some fun photos. HOWEVER, given the time line… we were now going to work this shiz out in a parking lot. :D Now, I happen to know from a past parking lot experience (their aforementioned engagement session) that these two are the DEFINITION of laid back. And again, Jess looked at me and said, “I trust you… let’s do this!”  So, just like last time in the rain… I put on my confidence hat and we MADE MAGIC HAPPEN! (okay, that was a bit dramatic… ignore me…).

My favorite :!: SO much joy…

All of the below photos were taken within an 8 minute span… another reason why an engagement session is SO ridiculously valuable. What IF something does delay your wedding portrait time? It happens… and happens way too often. These two knew how I worked, I knew how they worked and together we WORKED IT OUT!

LOOOK AT THOSE EYES!!!! Jess, you’re seriously stunning!

There were no dresses harmed in the making of this photo.

YESSSSSS!!!!!! LOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!

Now… it’s reception time baaaaaabies!!!!!

DON’T STOP BELIEVINNNNNN’….

jess+brad:

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
jess: #1. The entire aisle experience. From those last moments spent with Marissa, my Maid of Honor, to the whispered exchange of words with my father as we walked down the aisle, to the moment I could finally see Brad’s face (it was a really, really long aisle!), to when I finally took Brad’s hand in mine and proceeded up the steps to the altar. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the beauty and emotion felt during every single second of that experience.  #2. When two of out best friends, Amanda and Dave, got engaged at our reception! Made the day just so perfect!
brad: Watching Jess while she was walking down the aisle. When she and her dad finally reached me, her dad kissed her and then he and I were supposed to shake hands, but I was frozen, staring at Jess. Her dad stood there hitting his hand against mine until I finally snapped out of it and shook his hand.

What was your favorite detail?
jess: My something old. It was a handkerchief that belonged to an elderly woman named Neva whom I was very close to when I was young. She passed away many years ago, but Erica, my cousin and Matron of Honor, was able to obtain the handkerchief from Neva’s daughter-in-law right before my bridal shower, and gave it to me as a gift at my shower. Yes, tears were shed. I will treasure it always.
brad: The stained glass windows at the Chapel.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
jess: I have two. #1. My Ring Bearer, Andrew, got dressed into his little tux, looked into the mirror, and pleased with his appearance, exclaimed, “I look just like Barack Obama!” #2. During our first dance, I asked Brad if he’d like me to sing the song to him. His response: “No, I’d like to enjoy this.” :) People probably wondered why were were dying laughing during our romantic first dance. Well, that’s why. . .
brad: During my brother’s best man speech, when he, very sincerely, said he was proud of how “sexful” I’d become. He meant to say successful and thought no one noticed his slip of the tongue… but he was wrong.

Any advice for future brides/grooms?
brad: Don’t get stressed, even if a tornado takes out your rehearsal dinner, you’re still going to have a good time. We know this for a fact.
jess: Remember that it’s about the marriage, not about the wedding. Don’t be fussy, enjoy every minute of it with the people you love.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
jess: More time for photos and a longer reception!
brad: Longer reception, I didn’t get to visit with half of our guests!

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
Other than Bobbi + Mike? Our Bachelor/Bachelorette party in Vegas! About 20 of our best friends & family + 5 days of insanity = a really fun wedding weekend because everyone had already met and were excited to party together again! We’re already planning another wedding party/guest reunion in October!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma, Bahamas

This isn’t an answer to a question, but I just have to say that we had an amazing wedding party. We are so lucky to have such ridiculously great friends. The day would not have been the same without them and we love them all very much!

SNUGGGGGLE FAAAAAACE!!!!!! ;)

bobbi+mike

our favorites: 1) the time out chair at the salon. Though it kinda sucked… it was actually quite comical. 2) the wedding party goes in the top 10 of best wedding parties in the history of bobbi+mike. 3) photographing the shoes. AYKM?! 4) the flower girl during the ceremony was HILARIOUS! She was so bored/hot… in the midst of the ceremony she sat down right on a ledge,  rubbed her belly, yawned and laid down. 5) Dave chasing down the bus during photos. 6) Jess and Brad being AWESOME and trusting us entirely during speedy photo time. 7) the families. 8) the speeches… perfect combo of sweet and fun. 9) when Jess announced that Amanda (makeup artist and best friend) and Dave had JUST become engaged! The idea was suggested to Dave by Jess…. and he went with it. Jess announced, “I love that we’ll share this anniversary!” Yeah, Jess REALLY is one in a million!!!! 10) the unboxed booth and all of the hilarity that happened… ESPECIALLY at the end when Jess and her best friend recreated their best poses from childhood… except this time… there was alcohol involved. Maybe you had to be there… it was highly inappropriate and ridiculously funny. (I know I know… I NEEEED to show you some of the newest unboxed stuff. I’ll get on it, I promise!)

MUUUUUUCH love friends… MUCH LOVE! :D

~bobbi+mike

I had to take my shoes off during the ceremony because they were loud…

Mike, you are so damn handsome. Seriously. HOT HOT HOT!

That’s a face only a Mike Belschner could love… WHAT THE HELL AM I SAYING?!  I was showing Jess her next pose. Luckily for her, she didn’t make the same face. WOW TO ME!

As previously stated on the last wedding blog entry… I CANNOT resist me some Britney Spears. Don’t judge us.

SOOOO… the WHOLE reason Jess and Brad even knew team bb+mk existed? Because Amanda suggested us. You see, she was in Erin and Lucky’s wedding (and also did the makeup)… and has been following our work since (that was 3 years ago). SOOO… yes yes yes…  as you’ve already read… she got engaged THAT night and couldn’t wait to share. These photos make me so happy :D Thanks Brad for taking them!  PS. guess who JUST booked us? BOOOOOYAH!!!! MAY 2011 HERE WE COME!!!!!

:!: + :?:

I totally want to HIGH FIVE you guys!! You are photographing my friend Kate’s wedding in Oct and I’ve told her to warn you guys that I may stalk you down on the day of and ask for jumping high-fives!! :) She also mentioned that she may put us at the same table and I couldn’t have been more excited! Haha I love that you guys aren’t just photographers but a special part of the day for the bride and groom, who cares if it turns some people off. You wouldn’t want stuffy/boring people like that as clients anyway :)

rich + alyssaJuly 20, 2010 - 10:25 pm

Mike does look pretty damned pimp in that vest combo. Bobbi, I love how honest you can be with everybody. I mean, shit, the number of times wedding photographers get fucked over by poor timelines, a-hole people and just every other thing that can get jacked up on a wedding day…it’s just mind-numbing. And you never get a heads-up, it’s just “Hey there, here’s your shit sandwich for the day – Cheers, fucker!”

And you know what, you still make ridiculously good photos. You guys kick ass.

Kelly BeaneJuly 19, 2010 - 11:21 pm

You guys seriously are the epitome of “working it out”! Reading about their engagement session and then the ups & down of the wedding day… I am SO impressed. Love your work as always!

jaymeeJuly 19, 2010 - 5:51 pm

Brad…I do believe you have become quite the “sexful” man. Maybe you’ve always been. Maybe it was a Freudian slip…but, tell your brother he’s better trademark that shit. I’m taking it until he does. :)

KelliJuly 19, 2010 - 3:25 pm

I totally love y’all. I mean seriously – what other photogs get put in time out? :-) Awesome shots as usual!

Brie GerdingJuly 19, 2010 - 2:07 pm

Um, yeah. Those shoe shots should be in Jimmy Choos next magazine ad spread. HOT! You didn’t even need to go downtown because you ROCKED OUT the parking lot. That shot of the bride + bridesmaids with the blue sky is absolutely gorgeous! HIGH FIVE!

Angel CanaryJuly 19, 2010 - 12:53 am

sorry, forgot to tell you how great your new suit looks, that’s all ;)

LindaJuly 19, 2010 - 12:52 am

It takes epic skill to come up with all those bridal shots in 20 minutes! Master, please teach us your craft!

Kevin Wrenn PhotographyJuly 19, 2010 - 12:45 am

One of the most stellar ring shots I’ve seen in a long time! I’m loving the shoe shots too! Such a great job you guys!!!

Angel CanaryJuly 19, 2010 - 12:25 am

They look fabulous! I know what you mean, for some reason that’s happened a LOT this year! We had to bust it out yesterday and when I looked at the photos I logged the time. We had 8 mins. for ALL the altar shots (including family) then we had 8 minutes for the entire wedding party, etc. then we had 9 minutes with the bride and groom alone. I’d say we’ve had an average of 30 mins to one hour for all family, wedding party and bride and groom photos for the last 6 out of 7 weddings. This is when I am glad there are two of us. Great photos ;)

Angi DavisJuly 19, 2010 - 12:18 am
