Bling bling! Can you guess what I took this on???
I ALWAYS try to tell our brides to find a room with a big window to get ready in. Lauren listened! The color is always SO much more beautiful. I’m starting a campaign… “SAY NOLESCENT TO FLUORESCENT!” (I’m a good rhymer…)
LOVE!Meanwhile…Their first sight:DSo much happening in this image…Right after they kissed, they walked down the aisle directly into that elevator and up they went. I snapped that image RIGHT as the doors were closing.
“…and we just might live the good life yet!” (if you got that, high fives!) Mike’s favorite:?:I love brides who wear non-white shoes! This was my favorite part of the whole day! Notice Danny’s hands clinched on for dear life? I think he almost fell off of that chair twice! My favorite:!:Lauren and Danny surprised everyone with their first dance. No one, to include their parents, knew that they had been taking dance lessons…:)

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

lauren: 1. My dad, and then Danny, each seeing me for the first time. 2. Walking down the aisle 3. The part of the ceremony when Rabbi Rose said, “…according to the power vested in me by the state of Maryland…” when we were about to be pronounced as husband and wife, I just about lost it and will never forget how I felt in that moment.

danny: watching Lauren walk down the aisle and trying to keep my composure.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?

lauren: Hire Bobbi and Mike, of course! (Good advice! Thanks friend!:D) Do what makes you happy. Hire vendors who are true professionals so when the big day comes, you know they’re going to take care of everything. Dance to every song. Plan as best you can, and then just let it go the day of the wedding!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

lauren: Re-doing some of the moves from our first dance later in the evening for Bobbi to catch a photo of them.

danny: Lauren being handed a chair with the cushion detached from the chair for the chair lifting (i still remember it going through my head “this isn’t going to go right, lets get a new chair”)

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

lauren: Nope!

danny: I would have remembered to eat more cake.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Hawaii!

There is no photo of bobbi+mike+lauren+danny:(They left in a hurry and we didn’t get the chance to take it…

Go go gadget bendy!
Danny picked up our camera and took a photo:DOne of the very few photos of both of us in action on a wedding day! BTW, for those who it’s not obvious to, we’re bustling her train.

Much love friends!

Inspiring shots, btw!

bobbiOctober 21, 2011 - 1:32 pm

Carp…. You got it!!!!

CarpOctober 21, 2011 - 1:17 pm

I’m going to venture a guess and say the ring shot was taken atop a turned-over highball glass from the hotel.

lindsayOctober 21, 2011 - 1:13 pm

bubble wrap is my guess!

SusanOctober 21, 2011 - 1:02 pm

That shot in the elevator?! Holy amazingness. Oh and I have the Mr. Belvedere theme song in my head now! ;)

Rosemary HayesOctober 21, 2011 - 1:01 pm

Love the shot outside of the Belvidere. Great job, you two. BUT, I HAVE to add, Bobbi, you look AMAZING.

bobbiOctober 21, 2011 - 12:59 pm

To answer you all…. nope, it’s not bubble wrap ;) (…nor is it ice cubes) :D Have I mentioned lately that I love our blog readers? Because I do… :)

BillieOctober 21, 2011 - 12:55 pm

Bubble Wrap? :) lol

rachelleOctober 21, 2011 - 12:31 pm

Bubble wrap??

Collages.net Blog StalkerOctober 21, 2011 - 11:52 am

My guess is bubble wrap also. WHATEVER it is it adds to that AMAZING ring shot. Your photos are beautiful but that shot blows me away!

AlisonOctober 21, 2011 - 11:47 am

Holy heck, that shot out side the hotel is amazing, but I am loving the elevator shot even more!! Amazing job my friend, and I am going with the bubble wrap crowd (though they look like contact lenses!)

Mirko HerznerOctober 21, 2011 - 11:22 am

You are so right about getting ready in front of a big window. These turned out so nicely… Good series.

Lisa SchererOctober 21, 2011 - 10:39 am

That Hotel Belvedere shot….holy amazingness! And my guess is a golf ball for the ring shot?

Pam ButlerOctober 21, 2011 - 10:26 am

I am guessing bubble wrap also!

aliceOctober 21, 2011 - 10:22 am

bobbi – i love the Belvedere Hotel shot! i think it is my favorite, i didn’t see them to start with – i was focusing on the architecture – then as my eyes swung through the shot i saw the couple in the window. what a great picture!

LisaOctober 21, 2011 - 10:16 am

Great photos as always! I really love the elevator shot!

lindseyOctober 21, 2011 - 10:01 am

Meet Alli and Kyle… two OH SO sweet high school sweet hearts from a small town who are getting married next July.:)
According to them, they’re “really awkward” in pictures. Uhm… I beg to differ! The first half of the session was at Alli’s families farm… and it was AWESOME! Oh, and they’re getting married here too!Did I mention they’re cute?…and absolutely SMITTEN with each other! Then we drove into town for a few more images…:)HA!:DMy favorite!:!:Good team work you two!:D

Alli | ELL (English Language Learners) Collaboratorhometown | Middlebury, Ind.

Kyle | Public Accountant • hometown | Goshen, Ind.

how they met, as told by Alli | “We met our freshmen year of high school, probably at an awkward “freshmen get-to-know-you party”. We were good friends all throughout high school. Never even thought of dating each other until our first year in college, when we started ‘Goshen dating’ (dating without really admitting it–small college thing), and now we’re getting married!”

My husband is SO handsome!WHERRRRRRE’S WALDO?!…notice the piece of straw in his mouth. Though you’re handsome Mike… you’re still very weird.;)…a little motivational grunt…. or something… (I have NO idea what we were doing here!) It seems Mike’s not the only weird one;)As we were leaving for our second location, Alli and Kyle drove to the end of their driveway while we were packing up our cameras. Meanwhile, their dog hopped into our car and wouldn’t get out. Mike chased him all over the car, yet he kept eluding capture! After about 5-ish minutes we were able to outsmart him.:)I can’t say I blame him… our car is super comfy! (The main reason we picked it… we travel a LOT and I insisted on a comfy seat;)).

Much love friends!

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

bobbi: Walking down the aisle… No question! I’ll never forget it for the rest of my life. From Tacoma, Washington to New York City, and everywhere in between… my family and friends were there from all over the country, most of which I very rarely see. As I was oh-so-emotionally walking down the aisle, I was incredibly overwhelmed with seeing all of the people that I love, all in one place, all looking at me that I genuinely forgot that my husband-to-be was at the end of my path. True story! About halfway down the aisle, as I’m literally saying hi to an old friend (I would…), my dad says, “Bob… check him out…” referring to Mike. I look up, and there he was, my very favorite person in the whole wide world, in a pile of tears. I let out the loudest cry/laugh ever! Mike says I sounded like a dying wildebeest (how does he even know what that sounds like?!). I would say it sounded like a very loud honk. By the time I made it to Mike, all I wanted to do was hug him. I was squeezing onto his jacket so tight that I think I may have ripped a seam in his suit.

mike: It was hands down when Bobbi came down the aisle.  To borrow a line from our recent groom Anthony, let’s just say “it turns out…I wasn’t the emotional rock I thought I was.”  There wasn’t just a tear or two or a sniffle, but a blubbering mess of a guy waiting for Bobbi at the of the aisle  :)

Any advice for future bride/grooms? (these answers are solely based on experiences from our wedding day, otherwise… this blog post will be entirely too long!)

bobbi: 1. Make it yours. Just because it’s tradition doesn’t mean that you have to comply. Our ceremony was entirely written by us, our families each wrote something and read it aloud, and we wrote our own vows… Mike even wrote me a poem! 2. Our wedding was on a MAJORLY tight budget, as we were just 4 months out of college. We took the three things that mattered to us most, splurged on those and let everything else be just good enough. Our three things were: photography, personalization of the ceremony and to have a laid back/comfortable reception. 3. There is no better way of describing a wedding… It really is a whirlwind! Take moments, throughout the day, to stop and take in everything. It’s easy to pass over this tidbit but don’t… It’s important! Just talking about this today, Mike and I had to remind each other of many of the moments of that day.

mike: If you’re doing things yourself and intending on relying on family and friends for a hand – organize that ahead of time in a meaningful way. Everyone was wonderful and willing to help with whatever we needed, but we didn’t delegate well!  I was in a tux with a drill still assembling what we called an “arch” an hour before the ceremony.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

mike: So…I behaved myself almost the entire reception.  Half an hour before things were to wind down, suddenly everyone needed to have a shot with the groom.  ”Belschner’s” as they were affectionately called:) (2 parts absolut citron,  1 part sprite/7-up, lemon and lime juice to taste).  Half an hour and about ten of those later, I was in no shape whatsoever to drive.  A very dismayed Bobbi, crinoline and dress bunched up and practically blocking the windshield, had to drive back to our apartment.  Upon arriving at the questionable apartment complex we were calling home, Bobbi announces to a very inebriated Mike, “YOU’RE unloading the gifts while I wait inside.”  Bobbi falls asleep in the mean time.  Twenty minutes later, I fall asleep sitting upright on the sofa with a large gift on on my lap, head resting upon the gift…in my full tux.  A few hours later, Bobbi wakes up, still in dress saying “we are NOT sleeping apart the night of our wedding.  Help me GET OUT of this dress!”  And then, a few hours later – the phone rang.  It was Bobbi’s mom Kim, “Hey you two, I just wanted to be the first to say good morning to Mr. and Mrs….”   “OH SH*T!” we cut her off with, “we need to get our things packed and our plane leaves in an hour!”  We made the flight, just barely, and with about half the stuff we needed for a trip to Florida.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

bobbi: Our wedding was one of the first real weddings I’d ever been to (most of my family has gotten married by a judge). When it came to planning our wedding, we truly had NO idea what we were doing! So to answer that question… Lots of things! So, for times sake, I’ll just name one. – I would have splurged a little more when it came to my look. For example, I found my dress on eBay for $75… “Hey Mike, come here and look at this… Do you think I’ll look pretty in that?” …and then I bought it! Also, I wish I had gotten my hair done… As I fixed it myself.  My hair looked the same as it always did, just this time, with a veil!

mike: We were married before we’d even thought about working in the wedding industry.  We’d both been to only a few weddings, mostly when we were kids.  Having a few hundred weddings under our belts now, there are a lot of specifics we’d change…creative items as well things we’d do in consideration of our guests.  However, the personalized ceremony, the low-key feel, and the people involved we wouldn’t trade for the world.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Four days in The Florida Keys.:)

:)

~Mike & Bobbi.

PS. We’re celebrating this day at Yosemite National Park… so we may be a little slow to respond to incoming emails.:)

Happy Anniversary Bobbi. I got you on my mihind…
Happy Anniversary Mikey. I got you on my mihind…

I know I am driving you crazy with all the phone messages and my singing. I can’t believe it has been 8 years. Mikey you made me laugh with your story about me calling you early in the morning the day after the big day. I thought you would be upset with me be the obnoxious mother-in-law I am. Although I guess I did save the day for the honeymoon. But seriously you two are so well suited for each other. You both have taught me a lot about relationships. The biggest lesson being don’t hold it in if you have a problem with your partner, talk about it ASAP. I love you both so much and want you to have a wonderful time on your little second honeymoon.

Love As Always,
Momba

KarynOctober 10, 2011 - 8:29 pm

amber fischerOctober 10, 2011 - 5:23 pm

It’s funny that you say one of the things you would change is to have gotten your hair done by somebody, because I think you look so cute with your hair as it is in the wedding photos. I actually wish I HADN’T gotten my hair and makeup done, because it definitely didn’t look like “me” in any way… it was just too much. I would have looked prettier with my hair more natural and less makeup, I think. ( :

Happy, happy anniversary Bobbi and Mike! Enjoy your trip!

SusanneOctober 10, 2011 - 5:19 pm

adorable! Congrats & Happy Anniversary

kim+jonathan

Kim is the kind of person you want to be around all of the time. You can’t help but be happy. Know the type? That’s Kim.2011 weddings will officially be remembered as having the most incredible families. Kim and Jonathan’s top the list. I know that’s a pretty big statement but… well… if you met them you’d see.:)Meet Kim’s mom… confident, fun, charismatic, crazy and full of love.Right as we arrived to the ceremony venue Kim asked her sister Amanda, “Can I spin here?” And then they spun.

Kim then looked at me and said, “…It’s something my dad does…” She asked, “Have you seen LA Story?”

“I don’t think so,” I responded.

(totally paraphrasing her response) “There’s a scene where Sarah Jessica Parker asks Steve Martin, ‘Can I spin here?’ It’s a reference to cheesy movies. When there’s a moment they fully want to embrace and never forget the characters look to the sky, throw their arms out, close their eyes and spin. So anytime there’s a moment we want to make sure we never forget, my dad asks us, ‘Can I spin here?’ And we all start spinning!”

I’m doing this little story zero justice. Just know that my heart melted as I fell even MORE in love with her family…
…meanwhile.

Oh yes… a MARINE who wore his dress blues… and looked ridiculously handsome!:DThis was our first ever military wedding, and it couldn’t have been more awesome. For those who’ve ever been in the military, you know exactly what he’s doing in that image on the right (notice the ruler?).:DThe male Marine’s dress uniform is better than any other branch of the military.Kim, you were a stunning bride…Oh, hello hot tamales!I have a major Dad crush.
One of the best groom reactions we’ve ever seen.:)
Love.:)HA!

Oh, and just for the record, this wasn’t my idea.:)Wacky Best Man strikes again!;)I adore your smiles.:)The photo on the left is a bit out of order, but I have good reason.:)You see, I took that photo of Kim and her Dad in May 2006 at the 4th wedding we’d ever photographed… and now, over five years later it still hangs on the wall of her parents’ home.:)I couldn’t help but have a little Deja Vu watching them dance.Oh yes, that image in the middle? Yes… that’s one of our light stands doubling as a microphone.:)

I know that in the past few blog entries have been full of a lot of superlatives, but I can’t help it! Here comes another one… Top five best dance floors we’ve ever seen, EVER!

kim+jonathan

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
kim: Seeing him for the first time as I walked down the aisle.
jonathan: Marrying Kim… it seemed like just a moment… it goes so fast.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?
kim: Enjoy yourself, enjoy each other, have FUN!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
kim: Jonathan trying to get off the garter…let’s be honest, it gets a little hot and sweaty under those dresses!
jonathan: the Batman symbol during our introduction

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
kim: I would have bought my shoes a half size larger so I could have lasted in them all night!
jonathan: I’d make sure to put our arms the right way during the recessional

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Playa del Carmen, Mexico

jonathan+kim+bobbi+mike:)PS. I didn’t start my day looking like this. What happened to my hair?!
And of course… me with my brides! This is officially the longest time span between two brides: 5 years, 4 months :D. (Lisa and Jess, your reign is over;)). Hm… maybe it’s time for a haircut? I’m mad at my hair in these images!Kim was DYING to see Jonathan’s reaction to the gift I helped her make. Mike showed her.:D
I handed Jonathan my camera while I showed him his next pose. He was inspired.
I adore you two.:)Thank you for asking us to capture your most amazing day.

Awesome! Military blues are awesome, but it’s hard because they can’t do certain things “in the uniform” ya know. Fabulous as always guys.

AlyssaMOctober 7, 2011 - 8:15 am

The black and white image when theyre sitting against the wall at the very bottom of the picture, right above the one of theyre lower bodys at first glance made it look like they had super small torsos and bigger bottom halfs, did that make anyone else chuckle or am i the only one with the weird eye that caught that? Haha beautiful work as always! Loved them all!

Michael BlanchardOctober 6, 2011 - 11:22 pm

there is not a bakery in all of the midwest that can hold a candle to the deliciousness that is Wixey’s.

gailOctober 6, 2011 - 11:28 am

OK, that Steve Martin/SJP story? MADE ME MELT (that’s probably b/c you can just insert Steve’s name into the conversation and I’d melt) But man oh man, what a SWEET story!

And having just photographed a groom Saturday who was hunched over an ironing board getting his Marine uniform medals JUST SO, I knew EXACTLY what Jonathan was up to in this photograph!!!

Wonderful work, as always….and so fun to look back at one of your first weddings!

KelliOctober 6, 2011 - 11:23 am
